This article aims to analyse Spanish television's film policy and its relationship with the crisis in the Spanish film industry between 1990 and 1996. To do this, we examine TVE’s participation in the financing of domestic productions and its cinematographic scheduling. Our research aims to corroborate two hypotheses. Firstly, that the need to secure the loyalty of an audience that, for the first time, could choose what it watched, forced public television to find new strategies. This affected all scheduling, especially domestic films broadcast on both channels. Low viewership figures made this product unprofitable, and, consequently, it was not properly scheduled on the small screen. Secondly, we attempt to show that the entity's financial difficulties had a profound effect on the Spanish film industry's crisis. A lack of capital affected cooperation in finance and production between the two media, further weakening the fragile domestic film industry. This lack of support for cinema not only had a negative effect on production, but also had consequences for its promotion and society's recognition and acceptance of it.

This paper considers those elements of the films directed by Berlanga that operate as hallmarks of his film narrative, taking as its reference the feature film “¡Vivan los novios!” (Long Live the Bride and Groom) (1970). The Valencian director portrayed recognisable aspects of the Spain of the time: the arrival of mass tourism and the consequent cultural shock, eroticism as a plot device, etc., utilising the aesthetic presuppositions of commercial cinema of the time. However, his recognisable style, related to the grotesque and to fiestas as stages of subversion, prevails, although it is intertwined with the constructs of conventional Spanish comedy. In its application of the method of textual analysis suggested by Text Theory, with the theoretical reference proposed by Jesús González Requena, the present study analyses the symbolic structure of the plot, as well as its narrative thesis, which contradicts the habitual narrative in contemporary Spanish commercial films.

The digitised edition of the Complete Works (Obras Completas) of the Centre for Orteguian Studies of the Ortega y Gasset Foundation (Centro de Estudios Orteguianos de la Fundación José Ortega y Gasset), in which a meticulous work method has been used to chronologically organise his philosophical and journalistic endeavours, has served as an effective platform for renewed interest in his legacy. Ortega y Gasset forecasted several highly important phenomena, the importance of which can now be verified, such as the accelerated advance of technology, Europe’s lower profile as a world leader, transfer of the revolt of the masses to social networks, and the close proximity of the planet due to advances in communication. The fruition of these prognostications and the meticulousness of the edition have created renewed interest in studying his work, which has been reflected in the recent publication of writings that highlight the foresighted originality of Orteguian philosophy. These works concur in emphasising that the core essence that gives meaning to Ortega’s work as a whole is to be found in his philosophy of technique. This paper analyses a new approach that updates the validity of the Madrid-born philosopher's vision by focusing on his concept of technology.

The results obtained from a company's social networks presence are mainly established by marketing metrics. Their results can appear in the annual reports, but it is impossible to include them in the accounts. The companies invest in resources that provide them an economic and financial measurable benefit. The Facebook presence economic measurement will confirm the real dimension of need for them. At this point, the main objectives of this investigation, which are focalized on Facebook, the social network with the greatest number of users globally, are: demonstrating the economic performance existence derived from the presence in the selected social network, providing a general application calculation procedure, demonstrating the relationship between the implementation of a communication strategy on Facebook and the economic results obtained with it, and finally, to set a model to calculate the resource financial value, the result of which can be included in the company accounts or used in the brand evaluation.

This study starts from the thesis that populism is not a binary ideology, nor exclusively a strategy, discourse or political logic but principally a political style with communicational and performative elements.  In order to explore that, this study analyses from multiple perspectives the phenomenon of populism, its characteristics, causes, effects and intensity principally with regard to Podemos during 2014-2016, adopting a multi-methods research design on which the external perspectives provided in semi-structured interviews with politicians and journalists are included.  The documentary analysis shows Podemos’ own articulation of itself as a populist political project. This is confirmed in the content analysis of both general election campaigns 2015-2016. Thematic analysis of interviews shows that those more ideologically close to Podemos have a more favourable view of populism and those more distant consider populism dangerous to democracy.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends in October 2016 the reduction of sugar consumption by applying a tax on sugary drinks. Debating about the adoption of the tax generates tensions Spanish pressure groups with interest for and against. These groups put pressure on the public powers with indirect lobbying actions. Research analyzes the presence of the subject in the Agenda Setting of the media and studies the approach –Framing- adopted in various communication media. The strategy adopted by the lobbies, the communication activities and the direct and indirect actions they have carried out are exposed. Beyond the choice of a cannel or the selection of audiences, the most relevant elements of the strategy is the proper positioning of a message and a valid framework –frame- that guides public opinion around an issue.
