Neonatal Brachial Plexus Paralysis (PPBN) is defined as a brachial plexus traction or compression injury resulting from dystocic delivery. The incidence of PPBN varies from 0.42 to 5.1% per 1000 births. The lesion occurs in the expulsive period of childbirth, is most often associated with shoulder dystocia, gestational or pre-gestational diabetes and macrosomic fetuses. The lesion resulting from C5-C6 root involvement is the most frequent, affecting around 50 to 60% of the cases, and 80% of these patients have spontaneous recovery. However, around 20 to 30% of patients may develop persistent deficits, with permanent impacts on upper limb function, compromising the child's development; leading to repercussions for their families and for the health system. PPBN is usually diagnosed by clinical examination and usually does not require imaging studies. Initial treatment is conservative based on functional rehabilitation through physical therapy. Sequential physical examination will indicate patients with no recovery of shoulder movement between 3 and 6 months, who may benefit from surgical treatment. The prognosis of PPBN depends on the level (pre- or postganglionic), the extent, severity of the lesion, the speed of recovery and the quality of initial clinical management. Abstract: Blastomycosis is a chronic or subacute deep mycosis caused by a dimorphic fungus called Blastomyces dermatitidis, which usually produces pulmonary disease and, to a lesser extent, extrapulmonary forms such as cutaneous, osteoarticular, genitourinary, among others. Case Report: The authors report a case of primary cutaneous blastomycosis in Brazil, with characteristics that mimic ganglion tuberculosis. The diagnosis was confirmed by biopsy and histopathology. Conclusion: Cutaneous blastomycosis is clinically similar to ganglion tuberculosis, thus being an important differential diagnosis. Thus, knowing the characteristics and particularities of the disease, as well as its epidemiology, are important factors in the diagnosis of the disease. Keywords: Cutaneous blastomycosis, Ganglionic tuberculosis, Verrucous lesions.

Abstract: The street markets are an aggregational of commercial establishments where a variety of food products can be found, so we must consider the commercialization of these products and the hygienic conditions of these distribution places, which directly affect the quality of the food offered at these markets. This study aimed to evaluate the hygienic and sanitary conditions of the street market located in the southwest region of Bahia. Through this study, it was possible to identify that the main points that need improvement are regarding the hygiene habits of the handlers, how food storage works and the lack of water, which is one of the most critical points found during this evaluation. This study reinforces the need for supervision by the responsible agencies, so that educational actions can be implemented through courses, workshops and lectures in order to raise awareness about their managing and minimize the risks to public health. Keywords: Evaluation. Abstract: American Tegumentary Leishmaniasis (ATL) it’s the name given to the amount of infection diseases that cause immunological and polymorphic changes on the skin and mucosa. Caused by the contamination of protozoa of the genus Leishmania, the pathogenesis in question can manifest itself in the Tegumentary (mucosa and cutaneous) and in the visceral form, depending on the parasite and the host. The aim of this study was to collect the scientific knowledge produced about the Mucosa Tegumentary Leishmaniasis, presenting the epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic relations available in the researched literature. It was applied the Muños Protocol (2002) in published articles between 1981 and 2018 and indexed in the database of the Health Virtual Library (HVL) that was selected for this review study. The research strategy used was: “Tegumentary Leishmaniasis” and “Mucosa”, including, too, the following limits: articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish, available. The works present interfaces of Mucosa Tegumentary Leishmaniasis, stating epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic data of the pathology. It is evidenced the importance of the realization of studies about this theme to the development of new medical treatments. It is noticed that there is still a limited number of researches in this field, becoming necessary new studies about the theme. Keywords: Mucosal injuries. Leishmaniasis. Infection diseases.

Although neuroendocrine neoplasms are relatively uncommon entities, the appendix is a site with relatively frequent emergence of this pathology and its precise diagnosis and clinical management have been a challenge for practitioners. This paper aims to present and discuss a case report of neuroendocrine neoplasia in the appendix of a patient with acute abdomen who underwent appendectomy. A 46-year-old man referred to the Emergency Department complaining of abdominal pain in the right iliac fossa and signs of peritoneal irritation. After diagnosis of acute appendicitis, the patient underwent appendectomy. In a macroscopic analysis, an area of 1.9 cm long, hardened, irregular and yellowish shapes was noted in the distal third of the appendix. Histopathological analysis showed neoplasia consisting of invasive islands of monotonous rounded epithelioid cells, large areas of necrosis, high mitotic activity, neural and angiolymphatic invasion and extension to adipose tissue compatible with invasion of the mesoappendix. Circumferential resection was compromised, suggesting the persistence of neoplasia in the patient even after the surgical approach, which would probably recommend the need for surgical approach. Therefore, the importance of sending collected materials for anatomopathological analysis is emphasized, since it helps in the clinical evaluation, in the etiological diagnosis, guides the medical conduct in the evolution of the case, as well as assisting in family mourning in cases of mortality. Keywords: Neuroendocrine tumor, Appendix, Histopathological analysis.

Abstract: Currently, children account for almost half the number of refugees around the world, generally a fragile group, vulnerable to their own characteristics, especially when unaccompanied, which is not uncommon among refugee children. In this sense, special attention must be paid to the regulatory instruments that grant some protection and special observance to such individuals, so that the vulnerability framework is not strengthened. Brazil has some of the most developed legislation on the subject, as well as a broad organizational network and civil society entities responsible for assisting refugees and applicants throughout its territory. This study discussed law 9474/94 on the protection of refugee children in Brazil. It was concluded that adequate legislation is an essential prerequisite for a country to be able to provide and better serve refugee children, who are normally at risk and vulnerable. Keywords: Refugee child; Vulnerability; Protection of minors.

Child maltreatment has serious consequences, including increasing an individual's risk of physical and mental health problems across their life course. Objective: Here we show that there  is an important public health message to focus, not only on approaches that prevent or detect childhood maltreatment, but also to explore methods of prevention and detection of mental ill health. Results: The study Childhood maltreatment and adult suicidality: a comprehensive systematic review with meta-analysis (2019) showed that all different types of childhood maltreatment including sexual abuse [odds ratio (OR) 3.17, 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.76–3.64], physical abuse (OR 2.52, 95% CI 2.09–3.04) and emotional abuse (OR 2.49, 95% CI 1.64–3.77) were associated with two- to three-fold increased risk for suicide attempts. Conclusion: It is important to highlight emotional violence may actually be more powerful than physical and sexual abuse in its impact on adolescent suicide behaviors in low- and middle-income countries. Keywords: Child Maltreatment; Mental Health; Prevention.

Cardiovascular insufficiency (HF) has been shown to cause morbidity and mortality in several countries, among other aspects, due to changes in habits and lifestyle, leading to an increase in life expectancy.  It is considered a major public health problem given the high prevalence in the adult population, especially in the age group above 65 years.  The present study discusses the predictors of HF, based on an integrative review of four studies on the subject.  The results showed that, among the risk factors that most tend to imply the onset of HF, are systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease, obesity, dyslipidemia, and other factors such as smoking, gender and age. Keywords: heart failure, public health, adult population.
