Resumen
The following text is a reflection -with a long-term emphasis- on conservative thought in Chile focusing on three stages of local political history: the oligarchic regime, the military dictatorship and neoliberal democracy. This proposal seeks to reflect on the importance of the family for the conservative sector as a binding element of its doctrine. It is concluded that in the last electoral period, the democratic-neoliberal one, the socio-cultural change and the irruption of new values modified their speeches -but not their doctrine- which is still aligned under the traditional conservative thought.

Resumen
In Chile there has been a proliferation of works focused on the economic elites as the object of empirical research. Most have focused on their transformations, resource mobilisation and networks, while little attention has been paid to knowledge and understanding of their political thinking. This article analyses the political attitudes of large Chilean businesses in the context of a political and social crisis in Chile. It concludes that the top representatives of the employers' organisations have democratic attitudes but with strong elements of political disaffection. In the socio-economic context, the business elite recognizes the presence of a social crisis, but is adamant about changing the "pure market economy".

Resumen
The present research aims to define and evaluate the model that has been assumed by the water law and management system in Chile, specifically, in a context of continuous alternation in the Presidency of the Republic, since 2006. In order to do this, an analysis of three aspects is proposed: i) the identification of five essential and descriptive elements of the water law and management system; ii) the experts positions existing about it; and, iii) the public policy projects presented and implemented in the subject during the period 2006-2018.

Resumen
The article analyses the profiles citizens on confidence in political parties in Latin America. The above occurs in consistency with the elements affecting the confidence of the political institutions. Thus, it is argued that trust in political parties is determined by socio-demographic, political and systemic factors. The results indicate that trust in political parties in the region shows features that corroborate some principles of literature and who, consequently, support empirically its explanatory ability in different contexts.

Resumen
This research studies the relationship between security and migration in Chile from the perspective of Critical Security Studies. The theoretical and methodological approach used is based on the concept of "securitization", coined by the Copenhagen School (Buzan, Waever and De Wilde, 1998) and later developed by the Aberystwyth School (Booth, 2013) and Paris (Bigo, 2002; Huysmans, 2006; Balzacq, 2010). In accordance with the above, and through an interpretative analysis, interviews were conducted and documentation linked to the phenomenon of migration was reviewed, to determine the role of both the discourses of political authorities and the practices of the administration agents, in the production of migration as a national security problem in Chile.

Resumen
This work reflects upon the normative differences that stand behind the dichotomy of natural rights versus social rights, as opposed paradigms, both in the conceptions of human nature and the ethical horizon we should pursue. The natural rights paradigm denies social rights while ignoring the situated reality and its contribution to the achievement of normative purposes such as justice, freedom and equality, all which seem to be the reason to defend, from the political theory angle, a need for social rights to endow substantiality to democracy and citizenship. The urgency of social rights is concluded, due to its situated and supportive character, and its expanding possibility to the formalistic notions of democracy and citizenship.

Resumen
The role of foreign direct investment (FDI) as an economic factor in inflation rates is an unanswered question in the literature. Drawing upon the theory of Latin American populism, and based on panel data for the period 1999-2014, this study focuses on the left-leaning Latin American populist context of the twenty-first century to explain consumer price inflation. The populist left is defined here as those governments that are grounded in the radical democracy tradition with a social prioritization standard. The findings suggest that anti-inflationary efforts of the populist left should not only focus on trimming budget deficit by cutting government spending, but also to encourage FDI.

Resumen
This study investigates the use of social networks by Brazilian movements in the protests of June 2013 (Jornadas de Junio). We focused on analyzing changes in the behavior of social movement leaderships after the arrival of large internet communication conglomerates such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Before the Internet, movements had a top-down structure, and leadership played a fundamental role in social movement cohesion. However, after the creation of social networks, social movements shift towards a bottom-up structure. That is, small cells within social networks have influence on the leadership of social movements, transforming them into fluid leaderships. The study compares two historical moments: the ¡Directas, Ya! movement of 1984, as an example of centralized movement, and protests of June 2013, which are an example of a more fluid and abstract movement.

Resumen
This article provides an interpretation of the social outburst unleashed in October 2019. It is based on the assumption that the social outburst is the result of a series of unresolved tensions that were shaping a real "integral crisis", which has its origin in the impacts brought about by neoliberal modernization and in deficit situations that were maintained and projected in the phase following the transition process. This "integral crisis" has been expressed through structural factors, rooted both in the economic-social and political-institutional spheres. In addition to this, there have been conjunctural events, derived from decisions adopted by the current government that have tended to aggravate the malaise manifested in various sectors of the population.
