Resumen
Chemical disinfection is an important procedure used in the dental field that aims to prevent the spread of pathogenic microorganisms that may affect health. Objective: To determine the disinfectant effectiveness of the Lysol and Glutaraldehyde 2% agent in aerosol in high-speed handpieces in ninth semester students who attend the Integral Clinic of the School of Dentistry of the Central University of Ecuador (FO-UCE) period 2017. Materials and methods: In vitro experimental study. The sample was obtained from 40 high-speed handpieces before and after subjecting the turbines to a disinfection process using two agents applied in aerosolized Lysol and Glutaraldehyde 2%. The samples were taken from two sites, head and handle. The samples were then transported to the FO-UCE Microbiology laboratory in tubes with thioglycolate, subsequently seeded in the blood agar medium and incubated for 48 hours at 37 ° to finally observe the formation of colony forming units. The statistical analyzes of ANOVA and Tukey with a significance level of 5% were used. Results: An effect on the bacterial reduction of 0.6 CFU glutaraldehyde and 1.3 CFU lysol was observed after use. Both glutaraldehyde and lysol showed significant differences before and after use (p <0.001), with no differences between the two after mechanical disinfection with both aerosol substances (p = 1.0). Conclusion: Glutaraldehyde and Lysol aerosol were effective in disinfecting high speed handpieces.

Resumen
The correct adjustment and polishing of dental ceramic restorations is essential to preserve the durability and structural integrity of the ceramic material and its antagonist. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the intraoral and extraoral polishing systems for ceramics. Materials and Methods: 40 samples of feldspathic porcelain (Denstply, Ceramco III) were made in the form of a disk (7mm in diameter and 3mm in thickness), subsequently all samples were glazed and four groups were randomly formed: G1 Positive Control ( Glazed porcelain), G2 abrasion with diamond burs and extraoral polishing system (Masterdent), G3 abrasion with diamond burs and intraoral polishing system (Jota), G4 abrasion with diamond burs and intraoral polishing system (RA-KIT) The roughness of the abrasive and polished surfaces was evaluated by means of a digital roughness meter (TESTER SRT-6200 roughness pattern Ra 1.64um, velocity 0.1135 mm/s wavelength 0.25mm). The statistical analysis was through the ANOVA and Tukey tests with a significance level of 5%. Results: Anova showed significant differences in all groups (p <0.05). Tukey identified that there is no significant difference between groups G1 and G3 (p> 0.05), while for groups G2 and G4 there were statistically significant differences (p <0.05) with respect to G1. Conclusion: The G3 intraoral polishing system (JOTA) showed greater effectiveness and no significant difference respect to the control group.

Resumen
Dental procedures involve high situation of stress and anxiety. Objectives: To verify an association of dental anxiety measured by Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS), with variations of salivary cortisol (sC) and salivary α-amylase (sAA) levels in patients undergoing third molar surgery. Materials and Methods: Thirty two patients were selected in Clínica Odontológica of Faculdade de Odontologia, Universidade de São Paulo. MDAS was accomplished in first query. Saliva samples were collected during interview, on surgery day and postoperative follow-up visits at intervals of one week at the same hour. Three patients classified as anxious, and four who reported prior traumatic event were gathered in a group. Results: There was no difference between this group and the non-anxious group when comparing gender and pain. sC levels (KW, p = 0.65) and sAA (KW, p = 0.69) on three days weren’t different in relation to gender. Levels of sAA increased in day surgery when comparing anxious/ event and non-anxious patients, while sC levels were higher during interview and postoperative follow up. Conclusion: Dental anxiety and previous dental traumatic event showed marked production of sC and sAA levels in relation to their counterparts in this situation. Subjective and objective dental anxiety relationship needs further investigations.

Resumen
Objective: to systematically review in dental literature the survival rate of Zirconium and titanium zirconium alloy (Ti-Zr) implants. Methods: Clinical studies from the Pubmed, Embase and Cochrane databases, were selected by three researchers with inclusion criteria: Zirconia or Ti-Zr alloy implants, with a minimum of 1 year of follow-up evaluating survival rates, and exclusion criteria: laboratory, zygomatic and patients with systemic diseases. The agreement between the examiners was evaluated using the Kappa statistical test. We perform an i2 heterogeneity analysis, a random and fixed effect model using survival rates of both types of implants and Cochrane risk of bias tool. Results: 1755 articles were found from the initial search and 23 studies were included. Inter examiner agreement of kappa test was 72%. The survival rate of the titanium alloy and zirconia alloy was 97% and 90.3% for zirconia implants. In both types of models, the survival rate of the TiZr implant type was slightly higher than the other types of implants, and the 95% confidence interval. Analysis of risk of bias showed low risk. Conclusion: The data obtained in this study shows that TiZr alloy Zr implants presented high survival rates, furthermore clinical studies with longer follow-up are necessary to support the use of Zr implants.

Resumen
Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst (COC) is a rare pathology that affects both sexes in equal proportions, without clear preference for maxilla or mandible. It is frequently seen in association with teeth included, as well as shares certain particularly radiological features with other diseases. The present case deals with the management of a 16-year-old male patient treated at the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico, asymptomatic, with a jaw injury of important dimensions, radiographically presented a radiolucent lesion of approximately 4 cm, defined edges, covers from distal of the 2nd molar to the angle and part of the mandibular branch on the left side. It required a wide approach that allows the treatment of the lesion while simultaneously preventing an associated pathologic fracture. The treatment should also cover the possibility of a more aggressive ameloblastoma type lesion than the histopathological diagnosis did not rule out completely. The patient at 8 months of follow-up had a favorable evolution without clinical or radiographic evidence of recurrence, with adequate function and aesthetics.
