At present it is going through a global pandemic that forced the human being to adopt different ways of relating and doing their daily tasks, for that reason we wanted to make a comparison of the depressive symptoms of caregivers, the perception of the function family and internalized and externalized problems in children aged two to five years, in three groups interviewed at three times: 1) before quarantine by COVID-19 in Colombia, 2) during the first three weeks of quarantine and 3 ) from the fourth to the sixth week of quarantine. The questionnaires used measured: sociodemographic characteristics, the perception of the impact of COVID-19 on the lives of individuals, the perception of family-function, depressive symptoms of caregivers, and the behavior and emotional state of children. Aggressive behavior (Mean = 8,79; p = 0,000), anxiety (3,85; p = 0,025) and attention problems (2,53; p = 0,023) were found to be higher in the third group studied. The perception of family function was more positive in the third group (Average: 14,06; p = 0,006).

In adolescence, we, as individuals, experience certain transition periods, not only physical, but also in the way we reason. For this, different promotion and prevention strategies are generated through intervention programs. The objective of this work is to review the available evidence on risk and protective factors in the prevention of psychoactive substance use. In this systematic bibliographic review, during 2020, of articles published in databases in English, Spanish and Portuguese such as Pubmed / Medline, Dialnet, Scopus, Redib, Lilacs, Google Scholar, Science Direct and Scielo, quantitative studies such as clinical trials were included , cohort studies, cases and controls, cross-sectional descriptive studies and mixed studies, in the adolescent population. The search strategy was carried out accepting the descriptors in Health Sciences (DeCS), "Risk factors" "Protective factors" "Substance-related disorders" "Preventive health services", with the Boolean operators AND and OR, the diagram flow (PRISMA) was used. The content analysis yielded a clear contrast in the interpretation of the theoretical references, the organization of knowledge and the bibliography found. Finally, it was found that most of the studies contemplated personal factors, followed by family factors and, to a social risk factors. Regarding protective factors, mostly those of a social nature.

Analyzing the effect of the variables Eating Habits, Emotional Condition and Physical Activity (PA) Agency on Diet Perception and PA Time, in Colombian university students under COVID-19 confinement conditions. Preliminary correlational research was conducted through a comparative survey with both exploratory and explanatory scope. It was applied to 389 students who voluntarily completed the instrument on a Google Form. The structural model explains respectively 38% and 53% of the variability of the students’ diet perception and PA time. The model shows both statistical (χ² = 84 [47 gl p = 0,09]) and practical (IBBAN = 96; IBBANN = 99; IAC = 0,99 and RMSEA = 0,02 [0,00, 0,04]) goodness of fit. Hence, it can be stated that this inclusive model has the same explanatory power as the saturated one, which relates all variables to each other. Eating habits and intention were found to have a direct effect on the university students’ diet perception. Just as well, eating habits, intention and diet perception were observed to increase PA time.

Uterine leiomyomas are common during reproductive years. In symptomatic patients with multiple and large elements, surgical treatment is preferred. There are less frequent cases in which the huge size of the uterus warrants preoperative medical treatment. The goal is to reduce its size and vascularity. Taking this into account, the role of selective progesterone receptor modulators, such as ulipristal, and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, such as leuprolide acetate, has been highlighted. The first one, with a pharmacovigilance alert at 2018 for severe liver injury. The second, with selective use due to the side effects of hypoestrogenemia. We present a case of a patient with large fibroids in whom pre-surgical treatment with leuprolide acetate was carried out, with an optimal response. Based on the case presented, it is intended to promote reflection and the integration of current concepts in pre-surgical therapeutic options aimed at patients with large fibroids. The judicious therapeutic choice will be aimed at improving the quality of life in a framework of safety for the patient.

A healthy and sustainable diet reduces the impact on the environment and promotes health. From public health, diet is a crucial determinant of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and coronary diseases known as non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Adopting a healthy and sustainable diet can contribute to their prevention. The study's objective was to describe the environmental impact of several typical dishes from the different geographical regions of Colombia, considering their original recipe initially and then eliminating red meats and processed meats. The study calculated the total CO2-eq/kg of the typical dish from the Food Impacts on the Environment for Linking to Diets database, allowing the CO2-eq/kg of each food. The results showed that the typical dish with the most significant environmental impact was the goat friche with 21,719 CO2-eq/kg. By eliminating red meats and processed meats from the typical dishes, we obtained values lower than 1 CO2-eq/kg, except for the paisa tray, which had a final value of 2,035 CO2-eq/kg. We concluded that adopting a healthy and sustainable diet would reduce mortality from non-communicable diseases.

Kangaroo-Mother Care (KMC) is a follow-up program for premature infants with comorbidities such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The objective was to characterize patients with BPD and describe their nutritional, neurological, and respiratory outcomes in a KMC. A retrospective cohort study of the KMC in a University Hospital between 2015-2018. Included patients with BPD and excluded major malformations. Nutritional, neurological, and respiratory outcomes were evaluated at 40 weeks, 6, and 12 months of corrected-age using scales recommended in Colombia. A descriptive analysis was carried out, the variables were compared according to the severity of BPD. The changes in the outcomes in patients with complete follow-up were evaluated. 490 patients were admitted in four years, 50 with BPD (10,2%); 58% with moderate-BPD, none with severe BPD. 46% were born at <29 weeks of gestational-age, 96% had low socioeconomic status and 90% and 90% of these submitted  to mechanical ventilation. In the follow-up, height-for-age remained at risk at 6 and 12 months. 98% had abnormal Amiel-Tisson test. Around 75% had respiratory symptoms between 6 and 12 months and 33% had at least one hospital readmission. Patients with BPD in KMC have alterations in height-for-age, neurodevelopment, and respiratory system when complete the follow-up.

With conventional orthodontic biomechanics, the results are not always obtained in the required time, especially in complex cases, for which mini-implants are used to solve these difficulties. Identifying and describing the factors that affect the success and/or failure of mini-dental implants in orthodontics is the objective of this exploratory systematic review. The databases were used: PubMed, Google Schoolar, Science Direct and Clinical key. Articles in English and/or Spanish, randomized controlled trials, prospective clinical trials and retrospective clinical studies were analyzed. The initial searches identified 612 titles and abstracts on mini-implants of which 480 were excluded, the remaining 132 articles were retrieved and analyzed, 22 met the selection criteria, finally only N=6 articles met for data analysis. All the studies identified were those of the self-drilling system, with immediate loading in the upper jaw, all the mini-implants were made of titanium and from different commercial manufacturers. The material, manufacturer and diameter of the mini-implants do not affect the success rates, the proximity of a root is not associated with the failure of the mini-implant and it is considered a failure of the mini-implant if it presented any postoperative mobility.

A cross-sectional study was carried out to determine associated factors to self-rated health of Afro-Colombian migrants from Choco to Medellin, Colombia. It applied a telephonic survey to 392 Afro-Colombian migrants from Choco to Medellin and calculated PR with IC95% to explore the relationship between social, demographic, and self-rated health. The multivariant technique was a lineal generalized model to categoric dependent variables, reporting PR with IC95%. The results show that the prevalence of bad self-rated health is significant in those who need health attention in the last six months (PR=4.31; IC95%=2,68-6,91) and lower educational level (PR=2,05; IC95%=1,32-3,18). In conclusion, having less education and needing health attention in the last six months are related to bad self-rated health in Afro-Colombian migrants from Choco to Medellin.

Every investigation must be orientated by bioethical principles. Qualitative research, with a case study approach, with the objective of analyzing the bioethical and biolaw issues associated with the research projects identified by the Research Ethics Committees in human health. Members of Human Health Research Ethics Committees from Medellin and its Metropolitan Area participated; it was done semi-structured interviews, followed by an analysis of the content. The following problematics were revealed: weakness in the scientific validity and in the bioethics argumentation about the research´s protocols; researcher´s imprecision roles; gaps and outdated Colombian regulations; inadequate assessment of risk, beneficence, and non-maleficence for the participants; inadequate informed consent processes; inadequate policy coverage; interest conflicts of researchers and members of the Human Health Research Ethics Committees. It can be concluded that the Human Health Research Ethics Committees evaluate the projects looking for a balance between the research policies and the participant´s rights. The researcher needs to ponder on the bioethics and biolaw aspects on his investigation, anticipate eventual situations in the investigation and the actions to prevent or solve them, applying the precautionary principle.
