Resumen
Currently there are a wide range of digital documents, particularly text documents that by their nature allow automated processing, organization and analysis methods for the purpose of retrieving information concisely and efficiently. Diverse areas of study such as computer science, library science, computational linguistics and text mining, among others, have developed digital document processing methods for the purpose of facilitating their representation, organization and retrieval in digital libraries, databases and catalogs. These methods are both statistical and linguistic in nature. In this paper, the RAKE statistical method is examined in order to identify and extract multiword keywords from digital documents to allow organization, retrieval and automated document indexing.

Resumen
This paper offers a bio-bibliographic repertory and historical bibliometric study of works on chess in Spain from the late eighteenth century to the late nineteenth century. The methodology employed entails research and analysis of documentary sources of the period and current library databases mainly in Spain. The subsequent interpretative phase and the bibliometric analysis of four factors (period of publication, place of publication, originality vs. translation and typology) serves to describe each of the chess works published in Spain. Moreover, it also allows contextualization of the works within the social milieu. In this way, the bibliometric study reinforces the interpretative analysis of Spanish chess production.

Resumen
The intricacies of reading and its manifold developments throughout history have inspired numerous studies conducted from diverse perspectives. This paper attempts to highlight the unique contributions of sociology and mass communication research, specifically addressing the theories and works produced by the members of the Toronto School, a diverse group of scholars, who during the second half of the twentieth century began to explore the connections between emerging technologies of speech, and those associated with cognitive, cultural and social changes. The starting points of these inquiries can be summarized through an approach to the study of interdisciplinary media, especially communications technology as an independent variable in the study of social change.

Resumen
This study aims to elucidate the social representativeness of the Universal Declaration on Archives (UDA) within the framework of collective intelligence and skills required in the learning process, and comprehension of users and the general public. The Declaration posits a new approach to the preservation of documentary heritage and protection of individual and collective memory, socializing awareness of the responsibility of everyone in safeguarding the process of knowledge construction. This is a descriptive study that employs a bibliographical and documentary research method, and undertakes an analysis of UDA, its history and impact on the process of building the engagement of all in the perception of the importance of preservation of archives in libraries and museums. UDA collaborates in the development of citizens’ awareness of the need to train professionals in information skills and become agents of memory and facilitators of access to archived information. The study concludes with recommendations for additional UDA topics in Library and Archival Science curricula, thereby ensuring its principles are understood and experienced in professional practice, while serving to build social identity and knowledge.

Resumen
This study examines the effect of an educational strategy for the development of electronic document search and retrieval skills in medical students performing residency requirement. Additionally, the information behaviors of search and retrieval of electronic documents before and after information literacy remediation are described. This quasi-experimental intervention study employs the census of residents enrolled in the 2010-2014 and 2010-2013 cycles. Measurements were performed before and after information literacy remediation in order to identify significant differences in aptitude before and after the execution of said remediation. Results of the pre- and post-measurements show a positive change with aptitude rising from 20% to 35% (Z = -3.46 with p = 0.01). Important data were obtained to measure the informational behavior of medical residents in information retrieval. We conclude that users trained in IL acquire the necessary skills to search and retrieve journal articles and e-books offered by IMSS.

Resumen
This research report is part of a new line of research underway in Uruguay examining information behavior of students in the Library Science and Archival Information Degree Programs of the Institute of Information of the Faculty of Information and Communication (FIC) of the University of the Republic (Udelar). The research participates in the Macro Project titled “Information needs of the Library Science students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in Mexico, Spain, Brazil and Uruguay” (2014-2016); and performs a comparative study of the programs offered in Mexico, Spain, Brazil and Uruguay. The target population is first- and final-year Library Science majors. This research report examines one of the phases carried out in Uruguay on the phenomena of needs satisfaction, which is the final stage of the model. Our approach takes into account the main theoretical-methodological benchmarks associated with information behavior research developed in Uruguay over the years by Udelar’s interdisciplinary teams (1992-2016); consequently, this background is addressed in the study.

Resumen
Concerning with the access to scientific information drives actions by information and communication technologies. The repositories, which gather all the scientific production of an institution, have to be aligned to the principles established by the Information Architecture as a way to be more efficient and effective. This study presents the analysis of the institutional repository of the Federal University of Brasília in order to verify if it uses the principles proposed by Morville and Rosenfeld. This repository presents compatibility with some principles; however, it needs to solve problems regarding the system of search, accessibility, and service to the users’ demands.

Resumen
This paper offers a historical overview of the evolution of laws, policies and instruments for the legal protection of bibliographic heritage in Brazil from the nineteenth to the twenty-first century. The literature review of cultural heritage and current legislation reveal that the notion of bibliographic heritage is associated with the practice of legal deposit of current books and control of circulation of rare and antique books. The research presents the key instruments of Brazilian cultural laws, analyzing how these could be used to protect bibliographical heritage.
