During the 16th century the interest of kings and men of letters in the description of land, the navigation of the seas, the orientation in the ocean, gave a great impulse to the cosmographic, geographical, astronomical and other different studies. Such is the case of the work developed throughout his life by Ferdinand Columbus, who pursued the idea of gathering, in a single collection of books, all those works which made a reference to all areas of knowledge, hence the importance of the Biblioteca Fernandina, which was framed in a Seville that attained great splendour.

One of the most characteristic symbols of the mythologies of the old civilizations is Ouroboros, the snake that bites its tail. Its figure and the alchemical texts that speak of it are in two of the main manuscripts that are described in the Catalogue des Manuscrites Alquimiques: the Marcianus graecus 299 and the Parisinus graecus 2327. This article offers the Greek text with its translation, in addition to a brief commentary, of the passages of these manuscripts in which this alchemical symbol appears.

Some acritic songs are still alive in the Greek people, adapting to new circumstances, due to the multifunctionality of the folk song. Even they can be sung at funerals. It has led to the inclusion of these compositions within the categories of mirológia or moirológia of the Underworld and Charos, with which they share themes, motives and verses forms. This study focuses on the interrelationships between these song categories in Thrace, that can be extrapolated to the rest of the Greek territory.
