This paper has the objective of presenting a description, under the historical and legal points of view, about the legal protection of the historical-cultural urban and mining heritage in Brazilian Law. After explaining the historical evolution of this protection in Brazil, the study presents the conceptual issues related to the protection of cultural heritage, to then explain the urban development institute of the "tombamento" in the Brazilian legal system. Finally, the text indicates the lack of protection of the mining heritage in Brazil and the steps already taken in the national reality to implement it.

The port sector is in a stage of transformation marked by the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions, which requires the adoption of energy efficiency measures and the development of alternative fuels. This study analyzes the current regulatory framework for the control of emissions in maritime transport, as a reference for the analysis of ports. Emphasizing the role of port authorities and their innovative initiatives, through the plans and projects of the ports of Barcelona and Vigo.

All states have the right to lay submarine cables on the seabed according to the United Nations Law of the Sea Convention 1982 (LOSC). Unlike submarine pipelines, cables are generally consideredbeing environmentally friendly, having minimum impact on the marine environment. Currently, there are several projects on submarine cables planned to be laidin the Arctic. In particular, the Quintillion Subsea Cable System is an ongoinglarge-scale project, which majorpart will go through the Arctic waters. Despite mostly local and moderate disturbance to the environment in other regions, it causes certainconcerns regarding the influence on the Arctic environment due to its unique and sensible ecosystem. The LOSC does notseparate the Arctic from other regions, andcables are laid there following the same conditions as well as in other parts of the World Ocean. This article aims to examine the international legal regime of submarine cables in the context of the ongoing cable projects in the Arctic as well as to consider the applicability of the precautionary principle and the provisions of the Polar Code for ensuring the protection of the Arctic environment.

The study presented here demonstrates an analysis about democracy and its application in the resolution of environmental issues, it is intended with the present work to present the concept and dimension of democracy, as well as to establish a necessary relationship between the problematic environmental issue and the imperious one need for popular participation through the local community. The method used in the present work is the hermeneutic and analytical, where through bibliographic research and document and through the interpretation of historical perspective and current context will be made the analysis presented here. It can be concluded that environmental democracy constitutes an important means for the delineation and resolution of the growing environmental problem that permeates current events.
