Resumen
This article presents a reflection on the metaphors that catastrophic diseases represent in the lives of girls, boys and young people. This document shows the strong relationship t between the experience of the disease and the language of war to which the person living with catastrophic diseases, such as cancer and HIV/AIDS, is exposed. The reflection focuses on the ways in which some theoretical, investigative, medical and literary perspectives, in terms of coping and resilience, place the subject who experiences these diseases as a warrior who must fight against the affectations of the disease, to finally assign him a role of winner or loser of a battle that they must face. In addition, there are some reflections on the ways in which creativity is driven by the disease, in the desire of the subjects to express their emotions through creativity and to do a resignification of their life project from a creative reading of the present, transcending future dreams and the experience of illness.

Resumen
This article reviews the regulations governing of the study plans for Youth and Adult Education of the Costa Rican public education system, within the framework of agreements 06-50-2013 and 12-30-2013, issued by the Costa Rican Higher Council of Education, and the guidelines of the available education modalities. For this end, reference is made to curricular approaches from a socio-juridical analysis that understands the law as a curricular assignment and deprivation system, following a content analysis method. The results of the analysis indicate that, the juridical expression of the education right, far from strengthening, its guarantee consolidates inequalities. These are reflected in the construction of the modular contents, as well as in the representation made of the students.

Resumen
The rapid transformations of social life on a planetary level caused by technological advances in the field of information and communication have perplexed the educational community. Who we are dedicated to education we have not been able to catch up day in content, procedures and educational practices that respond and take advantage of this dizzying technological transformation. And even less do it from a critical perspective. Of the three articles included in the central section dedicated to the topic Trends in education: challenges and opportunities for society, the first two (by Ramírez Arce the first and Briceño Montilla and Barrios Uzcátegui the second) are critical analysis of specific cases and the third is descriptive, although not devoid of interest

Resumen
This article revisits Saussure’s work by highlighting the importance of his reflectionson social matters, as well as his decisive role in the transformation of socialtheory. Specifically, it shows how Saussure lay the foundations for the passage fromDurkheimian functionalism to structuralism and poststructuralism. For this purpose,we analyze his under-explored conceptions about social topics and reconstruct hishypotheses about language as a social system of differences, pointing out the mainconsequences for the understanding of the social as a whole.

Resumen
The article reflects on the academic and social contributions of what we call a feminist and participatory methodology, that is, one that articulates the foundations of gender theory with critical Latin American perspectives —IAP and popular education—. To do this, it describes and analyzes two field investigations in women’s prisons in Argentina and Mexico (2015-2020), highlighting the transformative potential this perspective has in the daily lives of women prisoners.

Resumen
This article aims to analyze the contribution of Ecuadorian scholars to the literature on interculturality. To this end, we conducted a bibliometric analysis in Scopus and Web of Science, focusing on four points: quantity, impact, forms of collaboration and themes. Our methodology was based on the use of the bibliometrix package in R. The analysis shows that the study of interculturality is not sufficiently developed in comparison with its social relevance. However, there are projections of growth, diversification and generation of collaborative spaces.

Resumen
This article analyses the event of desire as a point of articulation between subjectivity and utopia, based on the relevant theoretical review. It reflects on the complex link between desire (whose origin is an impossible to satisfy) and the various utopias, their interrelationships, complementarities and tensions. It is concluded that utopian preferences have to do with subjective issues and demands, and not so much with argumentative aspects and principles of utopian systems.

Resumen
The aim of this article is to find out how the processes of transition to adulthood develop among second-generation young people of Mexican origin, taking the family rajectory as a reference. The biographical approach, specifically the ethno-sociological perspective of Daniel Bertaux, through life stories, has been the technique used. The fieldwork was carried out in 2016 in the counties of Orange and Los Angeles. Among the most relevant aspects the young people highlight in their stories: motherhood/paternity as an event that initiates transitions and its influence on educational and employment trajectories; the gender inequalities that occur as a result of this event; the difficulties in residing independently from parents and the change in intergenerational relationships; as well as the expectations of new parents regarding their children’s education, particularly in terms of language.

Resumen
The article is framed on the theme of international scientific-technological cooperation and analyzes the emergence, objectives, projects, scope and limitations of the Argentine-Chinese Center for Food Science and Technology, whose creation protocol was signed in 2008 by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of the Argentine Republic and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China. For this, it recovers voices of key actors and contemplates the broader framework of scientific-technological policy, foreign policy and bilateral relations of the countries involved. The study runs until 2019 and uses contributions on the subject, official documents and interviews with directors of binational projects. Among the results, it has been observed that, with its limitations, the initiative advanced in the generation of ties and joint activities between the partners, developing bilateral scientific-technological projects on relevant topics, within the framework of broader technological, commercial and diplomatic objectives.
