Introduction: Myiasis is an infestation by fly larvae affecting human tissues, commonly associated with tropical and subtropical regions. Dermatobia hominis is the most frequent species in Latin America. Although rare, the auricular form can lead to severe complications, such as tympanic perforation or meningitis.Case Report: A 55-year-old homeless man was admitted due to sepsis secondary to extensive cellulitis. During the evaluation, larvae were found in the left ear canal. Manual extraction of the larvae was performed with favorable progression. The patient was referred to social services for reintegration.Discussion: Auricular myiasis occurs when larvae infest the external auditory canal. It affects vulnerable populations exposed to unsanitary conditions and immunosuppression. Diagnosis is made through direct inspection, and treatment involves extraction. Conclusion: This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis and comprehensive management of myiasis, especially in vulnerable populations.

Forensic sciences is applied in cases requiring a thorough investigation to demonstrate the veracity of the events that occurred in an alleged criminal act. These sciences use empirical knowledge to analyze and evaluate the events that occur in a criminal, accidental, or suicidal incidents. Testimony is a key process in such investigations and is carried out by expert witnesses, who must defend their scientific and forensic analyses before the facts and elements examined in the legal field, specifically in criminal court, to establish a fair sentence. Mycology, through experimental studies and case reports in legal medicine, can contribute to the forensic field by determining the postmortem interval (PMI), mycetism, and mycotoxicosis events. However, it has not been validated for application in legal medicine. This limitation leads to the omission of crucial information, particularly in cases involving clandestine burials. Fungi can provide critical information when other forensic disciplines are not applicable in reported cases where PMI estimation is required. Currently, efforts are being made to systematize the identification of fungi and their spores through forensic taphonomic analysis and to integrate biomedical professionals for mycological interpretation. Furthermore, forensic mycology is useful in determining the cause of death in cases of mycetism and mycotoxicosis, which are occasionally misattributed to natural causes or other factors, potentially leading to the impunity of those responsible. The objective of the review was to demonstrate the usefulness of forensic mycology in expert investigation, its impact on legal medicine, and to identify the limitations that prevent its application in practice.

Diphyllobothriasis, known as the “fish tapeworm,” is an intestinal parasitic disease caused by cestodes of the family Diphyllobothriidae, transmitted through the consumption of raw or undercooked fish containing plerocercoid larvae. It presents structural features that distinguish it from other tapeworms, characterized by a scolex with two bothria and proglottids that are wider than they are long, with a central uterine rosette. The species with the highest incidence in South America are Adenocephalus pacificus and Dibothriocephalus latus. Its life cycle includes a definitive host (human), intermediate hosts, and paratenic hosts. After infecting humans, it can remain silent for years, and when symptoms occur, they may range from abdominal discomfort to vitamin deficiencies and biliary obstructions. Diagnosis requires the visualization of operculated eggs or proglottids in stool samples. The treatment of choice is praziquantel. To prevent and control infection, key measures include consuming fish that has been thoroughly cooked or previously frozen, along with food safety education and environmental sanitation.

This article makes an artistic and historical approach to the building known as Plaza Real in the city of Tunja. Despite its significance as one of the city's most prominent architectural landmarks, it has received limited scholarly attention. The building can be situated within the framework of the Centennial of Independence and the Battle of Boyacá commemorations. Designed by architect Gastón Lelarge, the central pavilion—together with six additional pavilions constructed by engineer Jorge E. Valbuena and inaugurated in 1939—establishes Plaza Real as a valuable component of Tunja’s architectural heritage.

This article presents a pedagogical analysis of the role of art education in subjective expression in childhood within formative processes experienced by students enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. The study employs a post-qualitative methodology, which allows for greater flexibility in research-creation processes, and is supported by field diaries, didactic sequences, and the creation of artifacts. The results are analyzed through the lens of Arts-Based Educational Research (ABER), a model that emphasizes exploration, experimentation, and the construction of disruptive narratives as a means of generating knowledge. Findings reveal that autobiographical reflection enhances artistic exploration, and that the relationship between art and pedagogy generates tools for promoting art in educational contexts. In conclusion, art education in childhood facilitates processes of subjectivation and the communication of feeling-thinking (sentipensar), enabling future educators to develop formative laboratories that supportn children’s artistic expression.

This article presents an analysis of the development of training and research in arts management in Mexico over the past twenty years. A mixed approach to data analysis (qualitative and quantitative) was applied; documentary analysis, content analysis, and interviews were used as research techniques that considered informants from 28 public and private universities in 16 states of Mexico. A sustained development of academic research groups and professional training programs was observed, fostered in part by the cultural and scientific policies of the Mexican Government that have contributed to the formalization of disciplines. The study concludes that there has been a process of maturation of cultural management as an academic field in general and as a professional practice in particular.

Artistic manifestations of protest are persuasive elements that seek to make changes in society. Protest has been present in the History of Art since at least the sixteenth century, through artistic works that not only reflect the time in which they were created but also engage with societal issues and injustices. As the centuries progressed, artists were increasingly free in their productions, but it was not until the arrival of the twentieth century that we would see elements that question society and its injustices reflected in their works. These expressions have their origin in public spaces, but they have also taken root in institutions. A notable example is the emergence of artistic works in response to the United Nations’ adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. This global initiative, embodied in the 2030 Agenda, invites a critical perspective on the role of art in addressing  contemporary global challenges

This article examines how Andean music endures as a psychosocial expression of ancestral identity, emphasizing its poetic, rhythmic, timbral, and ritualistic dimensions. It explores the capacity of this musical tradition to foster individual and collective connections between subjects and territories, thereby contributing to the persistence of a distinctly South American historical identity. Through a comparative and reflexive methodological approach, the study deepens the understanding of Andean music as a vehicle for sustaining memory and cultivating a transcendent South American sensibility. The results and conclusions demonstrate that, through the analysis of instruments and musical expressions of Indigenous and mestizo communities, Andean music is exalted as both a unifying force and a cosmological system that supports the preservation and continuity of cultural values.
