This research investigates bilingual and study abroad college students’ intercultural attitudes on their understanding of global competence at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). To achieve this goal, an ad hoc questionnaire was developed based on the OECD framework for global competence. A total of 203 college students (157 females, 46 males) participated in this study. Results suggest that students seek to understand others and demonstrate interest in how people from various cultures see the world, and they are able to explain global issues such as climate change and pandemics. In addition, female college students show a greater predisposition to discuss issues such as gender equality. These results highlight the importance of international mobility programmes to prepare students for an increasingly multicultural, global and interconnected society.

The objective of the study is to improve cognitive performance in the area of Language and Literature; a methodology based on the quantitative approach was used, with a quasi-experimental design and explanatory scope. To collect the data, a pretest was applied, the independent variable didactic strategies was manipulated and its incidence on the dependent variable cognitive performance was assessed through a posttest. The sample consisted of 47 students. The results of the pretest showed that the highest percentage of correct answers correspond to the first level of cognitive performance, so the largest number of students was located at this level. After the application of the intervention proposal, an improvement was achieved, with a greater number of students in levels II and III of performance. It was concluded that didactic strategies improve cognitive performance in the area of Language and Literature.

Taking into account the few works that have analyzed the impact of bilingualism on the teaching of Social Sciences, this research, conceived as a case study, investigates it from the perspective of teachers and students of the third cycle of Primary Education. From a non-experimental quantitative approach, we have applied a survey to students (n = 75) and teachers (n = 7) of a bilingual primary school in the province of XXXX, in order to better understand this reality in a specific context. The results reveal the lack of specific training and didactic resources, the difficulty, in some cases, for students to fully understand the social content addressed in another language, and certain obstacles to introducing critical approaches such as controversial issues. We conclude that it is necessary to improve teacher training, increase materials for bilingual teaching, and better address the diversity present in the classroom.

University training within specific didactics requires approaches that incorporate current methodological trends to develop key competences in Education. Design thinking develops important elements from the point of view of active learning methodologies. This article constitutes one of the first studies on the use in the university of the Design for Change methodology, which derives directly from design thinking. In spite of this methodology that has captured the interest of the media, until now, it has hardly been a subject of academic investigation in Spain. The study was carried out on two academic years in the matter “Didactic of History”, with a sample of around 220 participants.

To address educational inclusion, more active and inclusive methodological strategies emerge. One of them is gamification, which shares the structuring or personalization of teaching with the inclusive model. Based on this premise, these pages analyze whether gamification can favor inclusive learning environments for students with specific educational support needs. A qualitative methodology is used for the study, carrying out a case study in a center in the Valencian Community where 18 primary school classrooms have been examined. In the field work, a series of instruments are combined, such as observation, interviews or discussion groups with students, teachers and families. From the results, it is highlighted that gamification favors inclusive learning environments because it promotes shared learning, allows the structuring of teaching and focuses on students, favoring their involvement in activities.

The Early Childhood Education teacher does not always find models to update the methodological approaches that involve music from the audio-visual media. We propose a design for the use of the TV series Beat Bugs (Josh Wakely, 2016-18). The main objective is to generate an organizational structure to extract, from its episodes, diegetic music that can be easily transferred to the field of motor-songs. For the analysis, we start from and instrument created ‘ad hoc’ from a qualitative paradigm, in order to extract, in the results section, the basic peculiarities of the movements songs. Finally, we will discuss the utility and relevance of the model according to experiences based on Early Childhood Education.

Given that critical thinking is an important part of our current systems of education, both as a subject and as a desideratum, its goals and methods cover different institutional, political, and philosophical strata, practically on a global scale. In the case of Mexico, the Universidad Veracruzana has implemented a critical thinking syllabus since 1999; however, in 2016 a research showed that, within the university, only 3.9% of the students who took a critical thinking test obtained an approving grade. Since this is a problematic situation that cries for an explanation it has been suggested, for research purposes, the next question: to what extent the lack of a natural teaching profile impacts on so low grades? Thus, with this problem in mind, the goal of this contribution is to offer a model for analyzing some relevant relationships between the teaching profile and the appropriation of critical thinking by the students.

Traditionally, the development of the ethical dimension has been considered as something that, from some external authority, can be implanted in every human being. Although to a large extent it seems to be the case, with this it is forgotten that its full development also requires the knowledge of oneself that the subject achieves. The ethical attitude is not something that simply depends on the acquisition of certain technical information regarding how to assess, decide and act. We will argue here that mindfulness is not only desirable for existence, but can be seen as a necessary condition for an authentic ethical life.

There is a kind of code of behavior in the collective imagination that leads men and women to act in a certain way according to the context in which they find themselves. The objective of this work has been to know the conception of Primary School teachers about gender and to analyze the possible relations that exist between it and dance in educational contexts. It has been designed a quantitative analytical research in which there were a total of 81 participants. The results revealed that most teachers surveyed did not have a stereotypical conception of gender, although not all were aware that dance is a reflection of the stereotypes present in society. Likewise, the participating female teachers showed a greater consideration of dance as a female activity compared to male teachers.

This research aims to test the effects on learning that the implementation of a Teaching-Learning Sequence has on Primary School students. The design of this sequence is such that the contents related to energy are approached in a way that is infused with the contents of the Nature of Science and Technology and Critical Thinking. A total of 117 students aged between 11 and 12 years old took part in the study. The methodological design is qualitative and techniques such as participant observation and documentary analysis are applied. The results of the study show an evolution in the students' learning related to the properties of energy; types of energy and its uses; renewable and non-renewable energy sources and fracking, therefore, it is concluded that the didactic design has helped the participants to improve their knowledge about energy.
