Resumen
In the context of the cultural, economic and social transformations experienced by Chilean families and various changes related to modernity, this article analyzes the main motivations expressed by a group of young professional women regarding the decision not to have children. Based on the analysis of family and life experiences, the decision is presented by them as being closely connected to the development of more equal partner relationships in which practices and representations that challenge gender mandates are intermingled. This includes aspects related to work, one’s partner, children, income use and the distribution of household tasks, among others. Despite the interest in building more equal relationships, the decision not to have children does not ensures the end of inequalities, especially in relation to the distribution of household chores. However, the studied group presents a constant interest in building a more equitable relationship and a move towards interaction that differs from the ones they experienced in their respective families.

Resumen
In the framework of our doctoral research on youth paternity in popular neighborhoods, in this article we present some findings and reflections on the care practices that young men develop in their homes, based on their own testimony. We investigate especially in the decisions and practices of taking care of their children, as well as in the distribution of tasks and their daily domestic practices. With that purpose, we conducted 40 semi-structured interviews with young resident parents of a popular neighborhood of Gran La Plata, Buenos Aires (Argentina) during the period 2013-2015. Although the responsibility for care continues to be focused on women, we maintain that the interviewees perform care practices (which we will call administrative and / or playful care). observing a greater involvement in parenting compared to their own parents.

Resumen
Since the spatial shift in social sciences, Chile’s northern border is determined between methodological nationalism, which involves thinking about the border territory under security exercised by the State and, at the same time, by local population that appropriates the space according to the way they inhabit it. This multiple expression is also manifested in the fact that the sub-national governmental entities, that should guarantee sovereignty on behalf of the central authority, suffer a sense of abandonment, relegation and marginalization produced by the action of the state itself. Indeed through fieldwork, we can conclude that State’s functionaries are determined to guarantee the security of the territory, although under marginal conditions that lead to the appropriation of the space according to the opportunities offered by the complex context. However, we conjecture that these officials and residents maintain coping survival mechanisms that sometimes contradict the national devices that regulate them.

Resumen
The discussion in the media about crime done by minors, between the years ninety until the second decade of the two thousand, spins around the theme of citizen security and the need of a zero tolerance politics with juvenile delinquency. The media do not invent reality, but reproduce and amplify with impressive efficiency. The particular treatment the media make on minors delinquency, builds the ideological image of a marginal subject, rehearses the implementation of innovative technologies of power, contributes to reveal the form in which operates the current control field of juvenile delinquency in Chile and is a tangible demonstration of the regressive effects of these policies in the processes of participation and democracy in Chile.

Resumen
This paper describes and gives an interpretation to the subjective theories that high school teachers of public schools of La Serena (Chile) produce about their professional role in the construction of school life. It is performed through a qualitative approach with a case study design, data collection, and grounded theory analysis procedure. With this objective in mind, 4 group interviews involving 30 teachers from 4 high schools have been carried out. Some of the results obtained show that teachers define their students as lacking and with diverse needs. This would lead them to justify the use of different functions in their pedagogical practice, and also define a relationship with the students in an individual or group perspective. Also, they explain the students’ behavior within the classroom and how they guide their procedures for handling discipline. From this, school life dynamics are set and continually reconstructed, and they are subjectively validated by means of professional experience throughout the years.

Resumen
This article has the objective to understand democracy and democratization as a conflictive process that requires a historical and agency-based approach to be analyzed. It states that this perspective is currently missing in significant part of sociological, political science and economic analysis. Some of these analyses are briefly reviewed in the text, along with considering its gaps and contributions, and some of its methodological and epistemological assumptions on the topic. Finally, the article intends to make a contribution to the analysis, by trying to understand democracy as a historical movement, exploring the use of the concept of “political modernity”, and some of the theoretical tools that two important authors have given us. Those are, Axel Honneth with his analysis on the “struggle for recognition”, and E.P. Thompson with his historical approach and his concept of “moral economy of multitude”.

A high rate of mental illness is very common among university students. The challenges encountered in academic life, especially in graduate school, put the mental health of students to the test, leading many of them to develop mental disorders. This article presents both a literature review and empirical research that analyze aspects of the mental health of 2,903 postgraduate students from all over Brazil. The results show that 74% of respondents have anxiety, 31% insomnia and 25% depression. The study also showed that most of them suffer constantly with a sleep related disorder, such as: difficulty falling asleep (39%), feeling guilty at bedtime (39%), waking up several times during sleep periods (30%), or waking up in the middle of sleep and not being able to fall asleep again (20%).

Resumen
The author proposes the development of a new legal-educational rationale that integrates a gender perspective in judiciary education and not in legal education, noting that developments in this area in Latin America have not been sufficient, because of the partitioning and fragmentation in the cognitive approaches. He postulates thus a discursive, methodological and practical deconstruction that can constitute an interpellation of such depth that will require a global perspective on the civilizatory matrix.
