The author contrasts Socrates with the new scientists, pointing out that today we must continue to build our philosophy of knowledge over the thesis of our lack of knowledge, in defense of tolerance and ethical principles. He proposes then a new professional ethics -contrasting it with the old professional ethic- built on the basis of twelve principles, which he develops in this text.

Resumen
The following article collects the main results of a research that updated the Human Development Index in La Araucania´s mapuche population, based on a 2003 measurement, in order to analyze the index´s trajectory, as well as exploring the possibility of incorporating socio-cultural aspects derived from Küme Mogñen, or culture of good living,or the well being notion in the mapuche´s, but conditioned to a discussion about the pertinence of cultural aspects in the development measures.

This work deals with the period of grater expansion of Chilean nitrate economy, when saltpeter compounds (Nitrate Combinations) were valid (1884-1911), understood as a cartel or business trust, generating a strategic position of the entrepreneurs, but that influenced until the end of the nitrate cycle (1920-1930). We state the hypothesis that the measures -private and public- taken in the face of a recurrent social perception of crisis confronting the nitrate industry, among them saltpeter compound, would have controlled -normalizing- economy, to the extent that the perception of crisis would have been internalized among actors (nitrate entrepreneurs and public servants) becoming part of their daily conduct, affecting their prospective capacity, on one hand, and innovation, on the other.

Resumen
The article is framed on the analysis of Rawls’s Theory of Justice from different perspectives. In this case, it refers to: (1) Amartya Sen's critique of some aspects of the model of Rawls; and (2) the response to these arguments from structuralist metatheory and the mathematics of games. We argue that Sen's position is weakened by changing the initial conditions of Rawls’s model, and the lean mathematical results of the correction proposed by Sen. The result is that the model of Rawls is not bettered by the criticism of Sen and forces to consider it from an ideal normative perspective. In this perspective the math calculation is not discarded, which is essential on redistributive public policies guided from an ethical perspective.

La participación de los padres hombres en el cuidado, la crianza y lastareas domésticas es un asunto clave para la igualdad de género y el desarrolloinfantil. En Latinoamérica las mujeres destinan más tiempo que loshombres al cuidado en el hogar(Rico y Robles, 2016). Por otra parte laspolíticas han reforzado el papel de cuidadoras en las madres y de proveedoreseconómicos en los padres. En las últimas décadas las mujeres salieron atrabajar remuneradamente sin embargo todavía dedican más tiempo al cuidadoy sus trabajos son más precarios (Blofield y Martínez, 2014). A pesarde todos los avances en legislación y políticas, al parecer, el orden degénero se resiste a cambiar o lo hace muy lentamente.

The identities of father and homosexual can be seen as mutually exclusive. The purpose of this paper is to explore how gay men in Chile experience parenting. In-depth interviews were conducted with fourteen men who self-identified as homosexual and had become fathers in a previous heterosexual relationship orwith a same-sex partner (through gestational surrogacy or a co-parenting agreement). The results show that gay fatherhood is not essentially different from heterosexual fatherhood. Two main differences were identified: a) homosexual fathers challenge cultural stereotypes that assume that a woman is necessary to raise a child and b) they develop strategies to protect their families from a hostile social environment. A heteronormative context that devaluates homosexuality directly influences the parenting experiences of gay men in Chile.
