Resumen
In the “Carta que el gaucho Martín Fierro dirige a su amigo D. Juan Manuel Blanes con motivo de su cuadro Los treinta y tres” (1878), José Hernández brings back Martín Fierro –a year before his Vuelta is published– from indian land and into the city to look at and comment on an exhibition of works by the artist Juan Manuel Blanes. This letter may be interpreted as a critical commentary on Blanes’ work, in line with other commentaries published in the city’s press; and also, as a literary production that draws from Blanes’ work but at the same time develops it productively, thus placing it in a different context –that of gauchesca literature– as well as interpreting and creating a new version of it.

This paper analyzes the ways in which Jose Rivera Indarte’s “Tablas de sangre” establishes certain mechanisms of representation and propaganda against the regime of Juan Manuel de Rosas through the exacerbation and accumulation of topics and strategies widely disseminated in the press and the literature of the “antirrosismo” movement. This unique and radical text registers, on several levels, the tensions between the systematic and the excessive, the calculated and the incalculable. Moreover, the figures of chaos and terror, the axes of the despotic system of power deployed by Rosas, are transformed into the pillars of a denouncement that leads the scope and possibilities of factious writing to its ultimate consequences.

Resumen
This article proposes a reading of the book La hermana menor. Un retrato de Silvina Ocampo, by Mariana Enríquez (Chile, 2014). Among other things, the analysis focuses on what is defined as the figure of the a cautious biographer; i. e.,: a biographer who, in the writing of her text, advances warily, with caution, frightened. This caution, this intimidation, occurs foris due to at least two reasons: on one hand, the biographer’s impossibility to access to Ocampo’s archive; on the other, the weight carried by of certain postulates established by some intonations of literary theory. In this sense, the analysis especially emphasis delves into especially on certain ambiguities related to the generic inscription of the text, and on the way in which Enríquez can hardly accounts for the relation between Silvina Ocampo’s life and work.

Resumen
This paper analyzes, by way of a personal recollection of my own trajectory as a researcher of literary biography, the contrast between the canonical form of biography and its poetical underpinnings, and an alternative vein, which seems to me to somehow collapse process and product. Examining certain autobiographical aspects of the endeavor thus makes the biographer and the archive behind every finished biography more visible. I describe what seems to me to be a process similar to what Lawrence Venuti has described as the translator's work, and discuss the invisibilization of both the biographer and the research process that made the biography possible. I also present some cases that do not follow this pattern and that seem to be referents for a small tradition in contemporary biographical writing, as well as fruitful venues for future adventures in both the content and the form of literary biographies.

Resumen
The literary references made by Silvio Astier, the main character of El juguete rabioso, have been the object of innumerous critical approaches in which predominate the bovarism of the character and Roberto Arlt’s lack of cultural capital. Nevertheless, if we make a literary and cultural references list of all the novel’s characters, we discover an eclectic and diverse selection, a literary mixture that embodies popular reading practices in the modern city. Despite certain critical approaches have highlighted Arlt’s symbolic shortcomings through their characters, this paper argues that the novel presents a truly democratizing access to reading, in a period in which popular culture imposed its own tactics and drifts on Argentine literary system.

Resumen
Through Rodolfo Fogwill’s figure I propose an analysis of the emergence of semiotics as a theoretical framework for social studies. I examine a critical article by Rodolfo Fogwill and Oscar Steimberg in which they analyze the phenomenon of advertising. Finally, I observe how structuralism’s renewal in the study of mass media helped to shape a critical study of culture. Moreover, I argue that the emergence of the editorial project Tierra Baldía can be grasped from this period as well as Fowgill’s literary rise towards 1980.
