From a historical point of view, the social circumstances of the year 2020, with the appearance of COVID-19, radically changed the needs and challenges of society. Which allowed new virtual proposals to achieve the objectives in the courses taught. The purpose of the following didactic strategy is to analyze the challenges and opportunities faced by an ARPYME (Artisanal, Small and Medium Enterprises) in its beginnings from the perspective of the students of the course of Management and Innovation in the Health Area (FA-0215) of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Costa Rica. In this, the technique of role-play and the five principles of education are integrated, which are identified in the development of each stage of this simulation strategy. From the videos observed in class and the socialization of knowledge, students manage to create, through technological tools, a role-play for each group of students.

This article presents a study of three national poems with authors from Perez Zeledon. The authors exhibit topics as migration and cultural subjects that miss their origins and traditions meanwhile they live in a constant social and geographic change. Based on the above premise, the main objective of this work is to analyze the stream of non-dialectical heterogeneity in literature from Perez Zeledon, specifically in the poems “A photo to my town” from the author Marcos Valverde (1982), “Mary in New York” from Walter Leiva and “San Jose” from the author Iris Valverde (1983). The poems previously mentioned show the important role of migration in the formation of peripheral societies as well as the affectation that they expose in cultural and economic spheres of Costa Rica.

The present work deals with the new international economic order (NIEO) and establishes a connection with neoliberal capitalist globalization led predominantly by the United States of America from 1918 to 2001 by interpreting the NIEO as another of its forms. To do this, a text by Noam Chomsky is used as a heuristic excuse, from which five fundamental and founding issues are highlighted for the understanding of said phenomenon. For the author, the geo-hegemonic achievement is not possible without discourse in the domain of politics, economy, law, and reinforcement from culture through the mass media. These five elements will constitute each of the five sections of the document.

Plastic Arts’ Basic Stage is a Teaching Extension project attached to the Vice-Rectory of Social Action of the University of Costa Rica. The project focuses on providing spaces for visual literacy, with emphasis on three fundamental axes: appreciation of the visual arts, techniques in the visual arts, as well as the stimulation of creative thinking and cultural experience through art. The objective of this text is to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of the communities participating in the project, from its beginnings in 1985 until 2017. The methodology consisted of documentary collection, theoretical treatment and creation of inputs for the presentation of the analysis. The results show a growth trend in the number of participants, and a decrease in the duration of contact hours; in addition, the pattern of mobilization and permanence of the project in the communities was evidenced.

This article deals with some of the main conceptual elements of the deliberative democracy, of the american philosopher Joshua Cohen. The objective is to contrast his answer to the theoretical need of legitimation of the political disagreement, with the limitations imposed to the exercise of the public reason, in the conception of justice as fairness, proposed by his mentor John Rawls. The ideal of a deliberative democracy, proposed by Cohen, finds in the principle of deliberative inclusion mutual presupposition of the the public autonomy and the private autonomy of citizens, resulting in a politically legitimate disagreement, and a calling for a radicalization of the democratic ideal. Thus, the deliberative democracy of Cohen express a theoretical formulation complementary of the justice as fairness of Rawls. Methodologically, this article develops a contrast between some of the main theretical and conceptual elements of both philosophers.

In the turbulent context of the Cold War, there existed within the Catholic Church, at least since the 1960s, serious divisions between religious sectors. Between conservative groups and more progressive movements there were serious political tensions. Within this last movement a movement called Liberation Theology developed, in response to the most elitist, racist and class sectors of hegemonic Catholicism. Ernesto Cardenal and Martín Baró were followers and representatives of this movement. This article develops a modest study of some of the main ideas of these two social activists and representatives of the Catholic Church, to better understand the world of their subjectivities, their analyzes of Central American society and the proposals they raised to solve the most common problems. serious issues that we faced during the eighties from the application of a comparative analysis.

The article researches the musical history of Trombones de Costa Rica, a Costa Rican chamber music group with thirty years of national and international experience. The group was founded in 1991, by the chair of the trombone at the University of Costa Rica. The musical style stands out in chamber music and has been an inspiration for new groups, and also for the study and creation of songs composed mainly for this kind of music. This article highlights both its artistic achievements and its contribution to the dissemination and promotion of regional music, through the voice of its lead musicians. For this purpose, the life story methodology is applied (Thomas & Znaniecki, 1972). The self-stories of the lead musicians explains to the reader how the group was created, and how it has developed since then through the four generations. It also shows the role of each of its members over thirty years and the contributions of the group in the musical history of Costa Rica. It is an informative and experiential document that demonstrates the joint work of institutions, schools, and human beings in strengthening the Costa Rican musical culture.

The article describes the landscapes associated to the Ancient greek territory, which held a pivotal importance in shaping the Hellenic mythical stories. The study starts by defining the concept of landscape in order to develop two fundamental historical-religious events: the emergence of the πóλις and the rise of the monumental Greek temple. Moreover, these creations, both the πóλις and the monumental temple -and the constituent elements of the sanctuaries in which they were located- constitute geosymbols that characterize the mythical-religious identity of Hellas. In this regard, the analysis of the landscape from the perspective of the Greek μὓθος represents a key to understand the scope of the Hellenic mythical-religious imagination.
