This paper deals with the study of two basic energies, gas and electricity, from a demand perspective, and under a comparative approach. The source that will be used is the Estadística del impuesto sobre el consumo de luz de gas, electricidad y carburo de calcio, which is complemented/ contrasted with others (Estadística Minera, Datos estadísticos técnicos de las fábricas de gas españolas, local monographs, etc). The main issues will be their geographical diffusion, placing it in the context of the modernization of urban structures, as well as the levels of energy expenditure, which are linked to the global changes in consumption patterns, both from a spatial and temporal perspective. All this will be carried out in a chronological framework, over the first third of the twentieth century, which will open new perspectives and debates about the specific way in which the process of energy transition from gas to electricity was carried out in Spain.

This article focuses on the trajectory of Gaz Franco-Belge. Robert Lesage et Cie (Cie Franco- Belge), founded in Belgium in 1880, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Public gas lighting was inaugurated in 1883 and the company ceased its activity in 1919. This initiative may be included in an ephemeral generation of foreign companies in charge of municipal lighting. Apparently, these foreign direct investments were unreasonable where urban markets were underdeveloped. Competition with electricity and the restrictions on coal consumption during World War I finished with these firms. Actually, the exclusive “privilege” of public lighting was a sentence as long as the town Hall became both the main user and the only source of market regulation. Without any intention of either raising taxes or paying for this public service, the councils anchored concessionaires companies to unprofitable businesses, in localities with a very low income average.

Had been configured, Catalonia’s and the rest of the country. A process of differentiation which was further accentuated in the years 1950-1970, when the coal gas crisis raised the need for the reconversion of the gas industry. In the decades of 1950-1960 in Catalonia and Spain a rapid transition took place, based mainly on the use of naphtha. Catalonia was a pioneer in the reception and implementation of natural gas, which landed in Barcelona in 1969. In the rest of the country, we would have to wait until 1980 for other communities to begin to handle it, a process that was ended by 1998. In this article we analyze these transformations and we intend to uncover the reasons why Catalonia was a pioneer in the replacement of coal gas for that made of naphtha and in the implantation of natural gas.

This article analyses the negotiations for the transfer of the Belém gas plant to the eastern part of the city of Lisbon; the construction of the Matinha gas plant and the organization of its production process; and the evolution of gas consumption in Lisbon in the period between 1889 —when a new gas company appeared in Lisbon— and 1957, at which time the operation of the Matinha gas plant was taken up by a new company, marking the end of gas production from coal.

IntroducciónSe realizó un estudio de cohorte prospectivo para evaluar los resultados funcionales de pacientes laborales con fracturas de falange tratadas mediante placas y establecer factores de mal pronóstico. Materiales y MétodosDesde mayo de 2012 hasta mayo de 2014, 55 pacientes laborales con fracturas de falange fueron operados consecutivamente, mediante reducción y osteosíntesis con placa y tornillos. Cuarenta y dos (39 hombres, edad promedio 30.76 años) fueron evaluados, con 68 falanges operadas (primera falange 15, segunda falange 53). El 28% de las fracturas fueron expuestas; el 38,24%, conminutas y el 11,76% tenía compromiso articular. El seguimiento promedio fue de 3.38 meses. ResultadosSe logró la consolidación ósea de todas las fracturas a los 1.8 meses. La movilidad para el pulgar (Gingrass) fue buena en dos casos y regular en uno. En los restantes dedos (Belsky), fue excelente (35%), buena (55%) y mala (9%). El puntaje DASH promedio fue de 18,53. Se observaron peores resultados en las fracturas de primera falange respecto de la segunda falange y en pacientes con más edad que en los más jóvenes, ambos con significancia estadística. No hubo relación entre el resultado y las demás variables estudiadas. Cuatro pacientes tuvieron complicaciones (9,5%). ConclusionesAl comparar nuestra serie con otras publicadas, hubo menos complicaciones y los resultados fueron similares, pero a diferencia de otros autores, no acostumbramos a retirar el material ni a realizar tenólisis ni artrólisis. Se logró la consolidación ósea en todos los casos y los resultados fueron satisfactorios en el 90% de los pacientes.

Sapho syndrome involves synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hiperostosis and osteitis. It is recognized since 1987 as a sero negative spondiloartrhopaty. Sapho´s most importante characteristic is the association between specific dermatological and osteoarticular inflammatory disorders. Recently we diagnosed a 15 years old boy with Sapho at the Hospital Pereira Rossell 8 months after his first visit. The purpose of this paper is to review the literature about this uncommon disease in order to provide the medical community the criteria to achieve a rapid diagnose and the correct treatment avoiding invasive maneuvers and unnecessary antibioticotherapy.  Sapho diagnosis is  mainly clinical and symptomatic treatment is preferred. It is important to explain to the family and patient the benign and auto limited characteristics of the syndrome.
