Resumen
Wood, understood as a sustainable material, has been used since the end of the 18th century to manufacture bicycle frames and during the last ten years its use has increased. However, there are still no scientific or commercial references for folding wooden bicycle projects. Based on this, a project is proposed that seeks to design a folding wooden bicycle that can be integrated into a sustainable mobility strategy. Methodologically, four phases were followed: Information, Formalization, Conformation and Validation. An analysis of the characteristics of existing folding bicycle models was made, the design requirements, the geometric pattern and the structural pattern for the frame were defined. Wood and standard components were selected and the folding mechanism was designed. Prototypes were used at different scales for dimensional fit tests with components, basic driving tests to determine maneuverability and ergonomic adjustment factors. Finally, the mechanical behavior was validated with a finite element analysis and with experimental structural testing protocol. As a result, the design of a folding frame in teak wood composed of three integrated structural systems, reinforced with internal metallic inserts, based on a rear triangle, a central ellipse and a front overhang was achieved.

Resumen
This investigation frames on the exploration and experimentation of a new bio-based material, composed from the utilization of the fungi mycelium that decomposes wood and sub-products of the agricultural industry. In Chile, more than 3000 fungi species are registered (Mujica y Vergara, 1980), of which only 10% have being described. The geography and weather of this country stimulate the fungi development, especially in the central and the south side, which has the right variables for their life. For this research, the wood rotting fungus of the basidiomycetes division was collected, identified and reproduced. In particular with the Pleorotus ostreatus and the Trametes versicolor species. From this research it is intended to obtain a typology of possible bio-based materials. On the other side, the agricultural industry generate a big amount of waste. According to odepa, in the years 2015- 2016 the waste of cereal crop was of 2.1 millons tons. (odepa, 2016). The physical and mechanical properties of this material are being evaluated, for it application in design areas, defining it possible use.

Resumen
The arrival of a form of production known as ready-to-wear, coming from Europe to an area of the capital of Chile, resulted in an adaptation process of the international trend to the local milieu. This article seeks to delve into the identifying factors of Chilean ready-to-wear by analyzing the modes of production, commercialization, and dissemination of a group of boutiques located in the eastern part of Santiago that were the first offerers of the novel garments. These settlements defined a geography of fashion in the commercial area of the commune of Providencia that facilitated going through it by foot. Eventually, this walkable fashion cartography started to dissolve as the free market economy encouraged the arrival of the mall and its enclosed dynamics.

Resumen
This article examine the first advertising campaign of the Parque Arauco Shopping Mall, as part of a visual tool associated with a particular project of modernity during the eighties in Chile. The analysis is structured around the role that consumption acquires as a reference for build identities. Having as starting point and reference the advertising messages published in the press, we investigate from a qualitative perspective, in order to identify the main imaginaries associated with Parque Arauco Shopping Mall core brand. Among the main insights, we can point out that, through the graphic proposal of this mall the consumer's subjectivity were enhanced based on the concept of quality of life and consumption as a value itself.

Resumen
Designing is to establish a new order, starting from what it is towards what should be, where this new order is expressed or materialized in an artifact (physical or virtual). In this process of change –and decision making– rational and intuitive components are involved (and dosed). How is the process addressed? What questions does the designer ask and how do he find the answers? What kind of knowledge is the knowledge of and for the design? How does the designer take the creative decisions? produces the "creative leap”? The review of the conceptual system of Charles Sanders Peirce, his pragmatism (pragmaticism) and his abductive reasoning conception, would help to reflect on essential aspects that characterize (though do not determine) design activity. Design, as a projective discipline, finds an epistemological affinity with pragmatist principles, according to which the effects of things are those that can have practical or experimental repercussions and from them, thought is mobilized towards action in the real world. Pragmatism, as a philosophy of knowledge, opens ways of understanding the design process, as well as design research and its teaching.

Resumen
This article responds to a research that deals with the analysis of graphic pieces made in Chile during the 90's, in the light of postmodern theory, with the aim of showing a certain sensitivity in the practices and discourses of those years, which coincided with the incorporation of the computer in the productive field of design, manifesting itself in the use of new codes in visual communication products. These documents were analyzed from their particular sociopolitical and cultural context, namely: the transition to democracy, a crucial period in the country's most recent history. According to the research, the reestablishment of a democratic order and the insertion of the country in a globalized culture were factors that propitiated an opening of Chile to the world, allowing the entrance of new influences, which resulted in the adoption of practices associated with the international postmodernism such as collage, eclecticism and pastiche, applied in youth publications, posters and catalogs, among others.
