Resumen
Some Iberian Hebrew Bibles produced from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century feature depictions of musical instruments within the full-page illustrations of the Temple implements. These instruments have been found to be similar to those in two contemporary Iberian Christian manuscripts: Cantigas de Santa Maria Codex E and Peter Comestor’s Historia Scholastica. The trumpets and ram’s horn appear next to one another in the Bibles and their appearance together is a unique feature in Jewish art. Also noteworthy is the fact that most of the trumpets have some gold or are entirely of gold or are gilded whereas the Temple’s and Tabernacle’s trumpets were specifically said to be made of pure silver. This article suggests that these two features reflect an attempt on the part of Iberian Jews to associate their music with that of the court of King Alfonso X and his heirs, as the illustrations imply that they and the king had shared musical roots.

Resumen
The success of Bilbao Guggenheim, beyond blockbuster exhibitions and indoor events, is closely linked to its massive outward impact not only in economic and urban terms but also concerning the presence of art in the city. The museum’s iconic building, an imposing sculpture-like carapace, dominates the skyline. Moreover, a cluster of public artworks, postmodern architecture and other cultural venues have emerged in the surrounding area. Plus its trickle-down effect has nurtured further creative quarters in other city districts. Based on this threefold phenomenon, this paper examines similar instances and their peculiarities throughout the Bay of Biscay. Alternative policies inspired by nearby emulators have also been enthusiastically adopted within Bilbao itself.

Resumen
Much has been discussed about Bilbao’s transformation and the impact that the Guggenheim Museum may have had in the process. However, the repercussions—and unexpected paradoxes—felt by other museums in the Basque Country have rarely been discussed. The aim of this paper is to explore and assess the aforementioned process, its goals, the controversies it aroused, the political agendas and debates emerging around it and the impact of the Guggenheim Museum on other museums in the Basque Country. Specialized bibliography, official documents and media publications have been consulted in order to describe such a controversial, widely criticized and even vilified venture which eventually would set a landmark in the world of museums and cultural resource management.

Resumen
This paper reconstructs the musical programming of the Guggenheim Bilbao since its beginnings. Three perspectives are displayed: on the one hand, the organisation of concerts in relation to the exhibitions (and their justification) as opposed to the use of the museum’s spaces for events that are apparently not directly related to the exhibitions . On the other hand, we briefly examine proposals that, due to their audiovisual or choreographic nature, involve attention to sound in the museum. Finally, the two major commissions are analysed on the occasion of the museum’s tenth and twentieth anniversaries respectively, in terms of the constitution of events that propose to sound the entire building. For these three lines, numerous examples are presented to illustrate what has been proposed, also in relationship to other Spanish institutions. In this way, an attempt is made to trace the underlying discourse of the Guggenheim with respect to music, which oscillates between a initial commitment to contemporary creation and the attraction of audiences.

Resumen
This article analyses the impact that Guggenheim Museum Bilbao has had on the local art system since its opening in 1997 until 2022. For this matter, in the first part of the article I present a historical review of the Strategic Plan for the Revitalisation of Metropolitan Bilbao, from which the creation of this international cultural infrastructure arose. Following, the nature of Bilbao’s artistic ecosystem is introduced, to then go on to study how this museum has influenced it. Finally, the three parameters that have guided this analysis are presented: the presence of Basque art in the museum through its exhibition and acquisition, its influence on the presence of galleries and exhibition spaces and, lastly, the perception that the local art system has of the museum.
