Therapeutic dropout is an a priori detrimental phenomenon that frequently occurs in psychotherapy. This work aims to study the factors that may influence therapy dropout. An analysis was carried out on a sample of 298 users of the Applied Psychology Center of the Autonomous University of Madrid. Of these users, 88(29.5%) dropped out of therapy before its completion. The results show that the presence of severe symptoms at the beginning of therapy according to the therapist’s criteria, and the diagnosis of anxiety problems, are associated with a higher dropout rate. In addition, it is observed that people who drop out have experienced significant improvement prior to leaving the treatment and  show a high level of adaptation to the environment at the time of dropout. According to the therapist’s evaluation, however, those who complete the therapeutic process show a greater improvement. The implications of the study are discussed.

Many mountain territories are becoming a tourist destination of some importance, with the aim of obtaining better economic development and curbing the emigration of their local population. Faced with this situation, and in order to reach a sustainable development, it is important to know the degree of resilience of the territory and that of the destination itself in the face of any type of impact that may arise, such as an economic crisis, climate change or any other natural disaster, or simply a change in consumer tastes. In this article, after reviewing the existing theoretical framework on the sustainability and resilience of a territory and a tourist destination, a mixed quantitative and qualitative methodology has been used to analyze the territorial resilience and the current tourist destination and compare it with the one they had a few years before, in two Catalan Mountain regions, Berguedà and Cerdanya, which are in different phases of their tourist development. Conclusions serve to help measure resilience as best as possible, so that we know what it is at the moment and in what position of the adaptive cycle these territories and destinations are.

The increase in geoinformation and its integrated use in cloud-based geographic information systems, or Web GIS, facilitates visualization of data and helps to improve our understanding of socio-economic factors as well as the natural landscape. Effective application of these tools in the classroom requires a change in teachers’ pedagogies. Thus, a review of existing pedagogies and a brief questionnaire given to teachers with lots of experience of using Web GIS, was carried out in order to identify how they were integrating online interactive maps into their teaching to make learning more effective. The results led to the development of a series of learning scenarios, or vignettes. These all use the visualization provided by online maps, to encourage more critical and reasoned learning. They also contribute to educating for sustainability, as they highlight trends and interrelationships that are intended to promote transformative action, beyond the theoretical knowledge and application of the Sustainable Development Goals. Direct observation in teacher training classrooms and detailed discussion over each result obtained has validated a teaching model. To support the use of these materials and the application of the model, a training course has been designed for teachers who are new to the profession or those who are interested in integrating these tools into their teaching. To date, trainee teachers who have been introduced to the model have expressed their satisfaction with this new way of working in secondary classrooms.

From the perspective of Henri Lefebvre’s «production of space», in the context of French historical materialism of the seventies, this article presents an approach to the relationship between urban space and the network of irrigation canals that make up the city of Elche, in southeastern Spain. The concept of «fluid city» in the Mediterranean ecosystem arises from the dialectic between production of urban space and appropriation of orography. During the 19th century, the municipal power and the agrarian oligarchies of the city directed a process of normalization of the appropriation of space through the normative control of the «hydraulic building» that makes up the irrigation waters of the territory. At the very beginning of the local industrial revolution, there is a renewal of the «fluid city» concept, since water acquires a new added value, that of an energy source.

The garden city «El Cercado del Marqués» arose as a result of the urban design project for an estate located on the outskirts of the historic centre of San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Santa Cruz de Tenerife). This dates from the first third of the 20th century, and was carried out on the initiative of a private individual (a doctor by profession) who commissioned the young Canarian architect J.E. Marrero Regalado, who had recently arrived from Madrid, to develop the area. The site had the ideal conditions for the construction of a garden city, but the promoter’s interest soon took a new direction, as he limited himself to selling the plots that emerged from his division to private individuals, who built new residences based on projects carried out by the most prestigious Canarian architects of the time, who used the architectural styles in vogue at the time: regionalist, eclectic and rationalist. Until the 1960s, urban plans and regulations regulated open building with landscaped areas throughout the colony, but from 1965 onwards, there was a change in the type of building on one of the plots, which became a closed building for collective use. A few years ago, a large real estate construction company bought this plot, where it intends to build a residential building with garages. If this construction were to be carried out, it would change the existing urban morphology of the entire garden city due to the increase in traffic, parking, reduction of green spaces... This would open the doors to a process of gentrification of the entire area and the disappearance of the garden city «El Cercado del Marqués».

The aim of this paper is to offer a model of interdisciplinary analysis of Berber settlements on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar. For this historical-geographical case study, we have chosen the Maṣmūda Berber group and its trajectory in al-Andalus between the 8th and 10th century. For this purpose, based on the documentation of Arab sources, the area of the Tingitana Peninsula was selected to be compared from the point of view of the landscape with the locations occupied by this group in the Iberian Peninsula. Using previous studies on the cataloguing of the landscapes of Spain and Portugal, a selection and mapping process was carried out and a systematic table was drawn up. For the case of Morocco, the environments of the Maṣmūda of the Tingitana Peninsula have been characterised and digitised ad hoc on the basis of diverse geographical documentation. The results show that this group occupied 31 landscape associations in the Iberian-Maghrebi area, where lowlands predominated. A summary table of landscape associations allows us to make an initial assessment of the diversification achieved. This comparison aims to make a first approach to the reconstruction of the geographical and productive context of the Maṣmūda group.

The purpose of the research is to analyze the spatio-temporal evolution of the total fertility rate (TFR) from the effect generated by the changes in female schooling during the period 1970-2020, in the municipalities of Mexico. Six competing Bayesian models were fitted using the integrated nested Laplace approximation method available in the R-INLA package, whose purpose is to capture the spatio-temporal behavior of both female schooling and the effect that spatial and/or temporal random alterations have exerted on the TFR. The results show that the fertility decline observed throughout the period analyzed can be attributed to the increase in female schooling levels, in accordance with different theories on fertility analysis. However, the decline has had a more pronounced impact in the municipalities where, at the beginning of the study period, fertility rates were below the national average, which caused the formation of clusters with low fertility levels in specific areas of the national territory. The application of the spatio-temporal models made it possible to identify the formation of spatial clusters with high and low fertility rates and revealed the differences between the North-central and South-Southeastern regions of Mexico in terms of fertility.

The aim of this paper is to present the possible location of the Alarilla ford and weir (Fuentidueña de Tajo, Madrid), infrastructures of high strategic and territorial value during the Middle Ages that have disappeared on the banks of the Tagus River. To do this, both historical sources and methodologies from the field of geography and field and laboratory geomorphology have been used. This multidisciplinarity has helped to obtain the respective locations with some precision. The location of the ford and the dam helps us to understand the structure of a territory that has already been profoundly transformed by humans and the climate from the 11th to the 14th century. Once located, we proceeded to assess its evolution until its disappearance.

There has been a revival of interest in social class analysis in the last three decades, that is partially sustained in research on urban contexts. Nevertheless, there has not been such large engagement in analysing how the imagination regarding the neighbourhood can also be a determinant of social class. Thus, my purpose is to determine if the imagination is a fruitful concept to depict how individuals imagine their future in their neighbourhoods, and to determine if such imagination is class related. To realize such purpose, I resort to ethnographic fieldwork carried out in the lower-class neighbourhood of Zalatitán, Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, Mexico. This research showed that residents clustered around three formulas to imagine their future in the area: there were those who envisioned that they could preserve traditional ways of life in the neighbourhood, those who just settled for living in a marginal and dilapidated area, and those who perceived many drawbacks in the neighbourhood and expected to move out. Finally, I suggest that the hindrances to control the visions for imagining is the common property for these three formulas, and the proxy to identify lower-class positions.
