This article analyses cultural dynamics between Argentina and France and discusses the problem of omission of contexts in asymmetric cultural relations, through the study of three episodes: the edition of Albert Camus's L'Étranger and Le Mythe de Sisyphe, in Paris, in 1942; Albert Camus's trip to Argentina in August 1949, two months after the censorship of his play El malentendido by the Peronist government; the official tributes held in 2019 in Buenos Aires for the seventieth anniversary of that trip.

This paper analyzes testimonies given by Nélida “Chela” Fontora, Uruguayan sugar cane worker, union leader and activist in the Movimiento de Liberación Nacional Tupamaros (MLN-T). Her stories as dictatorship victim and political prisoner reveal an experience shaped by her subaltern upbringing. Initially, the author found in prison a space where all basic needs, such as shelter and food, were satisfied, in sharp contrast with her previous life as a free person. It was also during captivity that she achieved literacy with the help of her inmates which, later on, allowed to publish two works: Más allá de la ignorancia (1989) and La llama no se apaga (2018). The situation endured by sugar cane workers in the countryside, the discrimination exerted by the repressive apparatus, the difficulties surrounding prison visits due to the family’s lack of resources, and the complex social reentry conditions after release are some of the themes referred to in her testimonies. These offer the opportunity to delve into the impact of state repression on women in the subalternate classes and to investigate how such particular experiences are represented in the texts.

Madre Josefa del Castillo wrote Su vida (1713-1724) at the behest of her confessor due to her spiritual visions. This account emerges from what was formerly considered the margins of the Latin American Archive, nuns’ Lives, and shows how the Colombian author encodes her writing in an affective rhetoric, focusing on suffering, in order to gain authority and represent herself. Although pain appears as the meeting point where power and the female body encounter —depicting how she embodies the position addressed to women within the mystical discourse with self-annihilation and self-negation being the only alternatives— Francisca Josefa manages to find a space of enunciation in the interstices. The configuration of an “aching” self allows her to shift from the technologies and discourses that constituted the female body at that time, to the legitimization of her voice and her self-image as a mystical nun.

At the height of French semiology, Paul de Man tried to make a polemic with Roland Barthes. His text left unpublished, but it is still of great importance for the study of structuralism, and to read Paul de Man’s work. Indeed, De Man’s essay shows arguments against Roland Barthes which will be then topics of his further works. This essay aims to be a review about Paul de Man’s theoretical problems with Roland Barthes and how the development of these arguments shows the main influence of Kenneth Burke’s work on the Belgian critic.

This article is proposed as a preliminary approach to the sound dimension of contemporary Argentine poetry and the spaces in which it circulates. Starting to think about the sound of poetry, about the substantial questions of how a poet or a festival sounds, immediately invites one to wonder about the territories that voices construct. In this sense, for Brandon LaBelle (2010), sound generates auditory knowledge that unfolds as a space-time event. At the same time, it opens a field of interaction, to become a channel, a fluid, a flow of voice that can forge a micro-geography of the moment. The auditory paradigm could be, in this way, a significant model to think and experience the artistic condition and poetic performances in the framework of Argentine poetry festivals.

INTRODUCTION: The progress report on provincial areas for public health research was updated through the Ministerial Network for Health Research (REMINSA). METHODS: Virtual meetings were held for discussion with REMINSA referents, and a survey in Google Forms® on regulatory, organizational and budgetary behavior was conducted, including task scope and needs for improvement. RESULTS: A total of 21 responses were received from 21 provinces with referents. There is a broad framework of regulations for human health research and, to a lesser extent, for the promotion of public health research. The results showed that 71% have some institutional structure, 20% offer research grants, and 20% have medical residencies with a research profile. The main activity is regulation or participation in ethics committees. The promotion, dissemination of results and development of evidence-based research projects were relegated (20%). The research areas are well-established in most of the provinces. DISCUSSION: The challenge lies in promoting the development of these systems in provinces without ministerial areas and strengthening the jurisdictions that do have such areas. REMINSA has identified opportunities to improve communication between jurisdictions, regulations for the promotion of research, and networking for research, management and decision-making.

INTRODUCTION: Synanthropic rodents, which are represented by house mouse (Mus musculus), Norway rat (Rattus norvegicus)and black rat (Rattus rattus), pose a high health risk. In South America, socioeconomic fragmentation generates marked differences betweenurban centers and peripheral areas and are associated with a heterogeneous record. The objective was to gather data by surveying inhabitantsof two neighborhoods with contrasting features in Greater La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, in order to explore, describe and evaluate theperception on the presence of rodents in domicile, peridomicile and neighborhood as vehicles of disease transmission. METHODS: An exploratorydescriptive design was used to make and conduct surveys following the technique of stratified sampling. The variables gender and groupwere considered to have the same distribution in the sample. The information was transferred to a database and analyzed through IBM SPSSStatistics V25. RESULTS: There is a common concern related to the role played by urban rodents as reservoirs and source of infection of zoonoticpathologies. The presence of rodents in the most vulnerable neighborhood was higher than in the center of the city. DISCUSSION: This studyprovides a different perspective related to rodents and pathologies associated, considering social perception and showing its importance formanagement and control programs.

INTRODUCTION: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mortality encompasses both its direct effects, deaths attributed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as indirect on other causes of death. The objective of the study was to determine the variation in nonCOVID-19 causes of death in the province of Buenos Aires during 2020. METHODS: A population-based descriptive study was carried out using secondary sources. Specific causes of death coded according to ICD-10, disaggregated by chapter and group, were analyzed. To determine whether there were variations between the observed and expected causes of death, the values of the study period were compared with the immediately preceding five-year period (2015-2019) using the P-score method. RESULTS: All the ICD-10 chapters studied are below the average of the historical series. The greatest variation appears in the chapter External Causes (-20.0%), Diseases of the Respiratory System (-9.1%), Neoplasms (-8.1%), Endocrine, Nutritional and Metabolic Diseases (-5.7%) and, finally, Diseases of the Circulatory System (-2.2%). DISCUSSION: There is a variable change of other causes of death by COVID-19 deaths during 2020. The analysis of multiple causes was useful to re-estimate, in the case of the group of influenza (flu) and pneumonia, the global participation of COVID-19 in the chain of events that contributed to the death.
