Tool condition monitoring is one of the important aspects in machining process to improve tool life. It comprises three important steps namely machining data acquisition, data analysis and decision making. Vibration in metal cutting has direct impact on the tool life as well as surface roughness. The present study focused on measurement of vibration during the machining process. Data acquisition is made by using various types of sensors. A wide variety of technologies like contact and non contact sensors have been used for real time data acquisition of tool or work piece vibrations. Research works carried out by many authors is highlighted in measurement of cutting tool and machine tool vibrations using different sensors. Influence of various input parameters like tool geometry, feed, speed and depth of cut on the magnitude of vibrations is discussed. Influence of vibration on surface roughness, tool life and power consumption is reviewed. Three dimensional vibration measurement with single Laser Doppler Vibrometer is also covered for precise analysis of vibration.

Entrepreneurship is hard work, especially when it comes to the creation of an innovative, ecologically correct and sustainable project, and the small entrepreneur, in addition to facing bureaucratic and fiscal obstacles, has great difficulty in running his business, planning and optimizing his production for lack structured management knowledge. This is what happens with the company studied, where the construction of an educational centre, thought to be a model of ecological and sustainable building, did not have a schedule of execution, thus becoming dependent on very short term planning, accomplished at each step, rather than a structured action as a whole. In this sense, the Critical Path Method (CPM), which uses simple estimates for the duration of the building stages and the PERT technique, was implemented among a variety of schedules and methods for planning and control of works execution. This method is suitable and simple to use by small businesses. This methodology, easy to be understood and implemented, generated benefit to the company, allowing planning, predictability and control of the works.

Companies seek to improve service level, aiming to meet the most demanding customers that enable it survives in a complex and competitive marketplace. The article presents a study in a company of repair and maintenance of industrial equipment and instruments, located in Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ), aiming to identify the factors that influence the execution time of the operators' activities in the manometer calibration process. For this scope, the study of times and movements and statistical analyzes, such as Linear Regression and ANOVA, were applied. The survey revealed that operators who have completed their technical courses in mechanics perform the activities in standard time greater than those who have not yet completed and that working on board and being married do not change the execution time. It also revealed that employees of lower age and longer experience are preferable because of shorter operating times and that the age was statistically significant, revealing that the most appropriate age to have a shorter time is approximately 27 years.

Faced with the adversities that arise in a widespread competition scenario, new concepts and opportunities emerge over time, whether in the form of a competitor that answer customer needs in less time, or as a technological innovation that needs to be dominated. Within this context, Logistics managers have realized that besides the ordinary challenge to maintain their own business, they must seek the continuous improvement of their services, make fewer mistakes, to be more effective and efficient in logistics processes. The objective of this work is characterize and describe the application of the logistics controller, to understand within the logistics structure what is its benefits, understanding the role of controllership and the role of logistics, the relationship between controllership and logistics, the role of logistics controller, its duties, the activities to be carried out, the relationship with the various hierarchical levels, the knowledge that must be mastered and finally, what it can do for logistics. For this study, the descriptive case study with multiple cases was applied. The data acquired demonstrate that managers has a notion of the importance of having a professional that can unify the information and for this to have knowledge and competence in controllership exist, but that at the same time can be inserted in the logistics area.

The objective of the study was to examine financing rural industrialization and employment creation practices and possibilities in Ethiopia. In this context, rural industrialization refers to encouraging small to large industries to be established in rural areas. As rural industrialization is a new concept at a policy level let alone to the practice on the ground in Ethiopia, a full-fledged data regarding the rural industrialization and the rural financing practice is inadequate. However, attempts were made to see at least the trends in agricultural commercialization, off farm practices, the government’s policy, the financial institutions practices, and above all how other countries approached rural industrialization and financing such industries. Hence, relevant data were collected from CSA, NBE, DHS, World Bank, and Ethiopian Investment Commission and the collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The major finding of the study indicates rural industrialization process is at conception stage and financing the rural strategy is still poorly developed despite the immense economic and social implications. Hence, a combination of centralized financing rural industrialization through commercial banks and a decentralized financing rural industrialization through microfinance institutions is recommended for the country to get better depth and breadth of rural industrialization.

Participation in international trade has been important for national economy and keeps increasing over the years, and it may be noted by the importation and exportation activities. In this sense this study aims to verify whether there is correlation between exports of manufactured and basic products in the State of São Paulo, as well as between them and time. Therefore it was used data available at Ministério da Indústria, Comércio Exterior e Serviços (MDIC) website relating to the amount in US$ of both manufactured products and basic products exported in the State of São Paulo from 2006 to 2016. The analysis was performed by using simple linear regression statistical calculation, aiming to verify whether there is correlation. Findings indicate there is strong correlation between the exports of basic products and time; there is no correlation between the exports of manufactured products and time; there is no correlation between the exports of basic products and the exports of manufactured products. Findings may help practitioners in forecasting demands as well as the understanding about exports behaviors when making-decisions.

The given article aims to evaluate different quantitative demand forecast methods through a case study on a glass tempering company. The analysis were held based on historical data series, which allowed the use of a part of this data for method application and another part for comparison and validation of the model`s results. The methods were compared based on obtaining the mean absolute error. In the studied company, the raw material request for the suppliers was made when new orders are ordered (pulled production). This method results in longer responsiveness, mainly due to the waiting time of raw material arrival. The application of those different demand forecasting models were analysed over three types of products on the tempered glass category, which represents a total volume of 65% of the company's costs. As a result, two methods were better adapted to the real data, providing absolute errors between 0.25 and 0.29. This given work showed that the application of the demand forecasting methods would reduce orders delivery time, what could lead to real gains to the analyzed company.

This study aimed to identify how the main variables that are influenced by the anthropic activity resulting from the soybean production in the Mato Grosso Municipalities cluster among themselves. Factor analysis method was used to identify underlying dimensions that can account for the shared variation of observed variables. The factorial analysis proposes to reduce the number of variables by the extraction of independent factors, so that a better explanation of the relationship between the original variables occurs, avoiding correlational problems and reducing the relevance of endogeneity. Three dimensions were identified, each with a different combination of variables. Based on the results from principal components modelling it is fair to state that the impacts of the anthropic activity resulting from soybean production in the Mato Grosso municipalities can be analyzed according to three main domains: production impacts, socioeconomic impacts and demographic impacts. The main contribution of this paper is that it offers a useful framework of analysis for both public and private decision-makers regarding the influence of soybean production on economic, social, environmental, and cultural factors.
