This paper presents the results of a survey about the influence of the seller’s performance on the consumer purchase of clothes and personal care, toiletries and cosmetics (HPPC) and to compare their results. This study has an exploratory, quantitative and descriptive nature. The samples surveyed were made up of students enrolled in engineering courses of a university located in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. In the case of clothes market, a survey with a sample of 329 respondents was performed through a structured questionnaire. Regarding PHPC, the number of respondents was 317. We used descriptive statistics to describe the basic features of the data and the nonparametric Mann-Whitney test to compare the two sample results (significance level of 5%). The results indicate that, in both sectors, the majority of respondents go to specific stores to carry their purchases. Price, seller’s performance, style and brands are the main factors influencing the consumers’ decision about which store to buy. It was also found that the seller’s performance influences the costumers’ buying decision process and loyalty. Aspects of credibility, interest in customer needs, product knowledge, courtesy and attention were aspects of seller’s performance considered the most important by respondents in both sectors.

Rework is systemic and a recurring decimal and It is triggered by several factors, which emergence create scenarios, which degrades project cost, quality and schedule performance, and overall project performance. This study therefore examined the perception of construction professionals on the factors that triggers the emergence of rework in the Nigerian construction industry. This was achieved by determining the predominant rework triggers that affect project performance, identifying rework triggers in which the professionals view varies significantly, and examining the category of rework risks triggers that contribute more to rework incidences. The study adopted a quantitative survey approach in which structured questionnaire was adopted as the research instrument. Mean item score was used in ranking the professionals perception on rework triggers, and Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to identify the variables in which the professionals view varies. The study concluded that: contractor-related and design-related causes are the major categories of rework risks triggers. Unclear instruction to workers, Shortage of skilled supervisors, incomplete and inaccurate information are the predominant triggers of rework. The professionals view varies significantly on nine factors which cut across the four categories of rework triggers. It was recommended that there is need for clarity, effectiveness and timeliness of instruction and information dissemination among project participants, and the use of skilled and experienced professionals, skilled supervisors and proper implementation of quality management practices by both the design consultant and contractor throughout the project’s phases

Although the export orientation of shrimp commodities in developing fisheries sector is very influential and has a great contribution in the country's economic development, but there are still many obstacles encountered in shrimp exports. Besides, domestic market can be an alternative choice for shrimp market. Understanding consumer behavior towards shrimp is very important for producers and government in order to know how consumers’ intention in shrimp consumption. Therefore, in this study conducted a consumer behavior analysis of shrimp to determine intention in shrimp consumption in Indonesia by using The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). This research aimed to analyze the characteristics of shrimp consumers, to analyze the contribution of attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and behavioral control and formulate market education strategy which can increase the consumption of shrimp. Descriptively, the results of the distribution of questionnaires showed that majority of shrimp consumers were less than 30 years old, with private employment type and housewives. The result of model Theory of Planned Behavior toward shrimp consumer behavior shows that there is a significant affects directly to intention which is from Subjective Norm. The influence of the environment are greatly affects consumers in taking decisions before making a purchase of shrimp products. The government in its program or policy has initiated an approach to the domestic consumers of seafood products in order to create high attention of people to consume fishery products.

A century that defined the price of its product was the company. Today, in the 21st century, who defines the price is the market. That is why one of the managers' roles today is to look after maintenance and seek continuous improvements in order to reduce costs so that profits are maintained or raised. This article deals precisely with this, through the statistics applied to performance and quality indicators. Before starting the kaizen process, this article discusses the implementation of 5S in the target company of the case study in order to organize and standardize the processes. After 5S, the kaizen was implanted and data were collected that were treated statistically. It was concluded that the system was confirmed by the statistical results after the treatment and analysis of the data, and that the main purpose of these two tools, 5S and Kaizen, is to improve competitiveness and why not say, Have more assurance of the company's sustainability.

Risk management focus main on technical and rational analysis about operational risks and by those imposed by occupational environment. In this work one looks to contribute to perception study of work safety professionals about a series of activities and environment agents. In this way it was used theory sustained by psychometric paradigm and multivariate analysis tools, mainly multidimensional scaling, generalized Procrustes analysis and facet theory, in order to construct the perceptual map of occupational risks. The results obtained showed that the essential characteristics of risks, which were initially split in 4 facets were detected and maintained in perceptual map. The construction of perceptual map also permitted to verify the formation of a new facet, not considered in the beginning. The facet theory which by hypothesis was used in this work showed adequate, providing the regional interpretation of the map. The inferential analysis realized showed fine results for the final configuration validation, indicating which risks and/or activities belongs to the same facet.

Brazil is the world’s major sugarcane producer. In 2018/19, the country will have produced about 47.34 million tons of sugar and 58.8 billion liters of ethanol. Sugar and ethanol are produced in the same production process and the definition of both quantities is pre-established to sugarcane agro-industry. The purpose of this paper is to identify how managers define the production mix of sugar-ethanol in an agro-industry and how this decision adds value to its operations. The results showed that the searched mill adds value to its production through responsiveness and flexibility while orienting the production to sugar and/or ethanol according to the most profitable market during the moment of the decision making.

In the industrial sector, the work of the research and development departments is related both to the processes performed and to the products to be marketed, and it includes everything from the design and development of a new product to the redesign or development of the process of production. Therefore, response time represents a key point in the structure of the company, provided that the response is fast and effective. Besides, the quality of the development and design is not limited to the benefits of the product. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) for Pharmaceutical Products Research and Development appears as an important tool that allows us to face the design or modification of a product or process according to customers needs, and to their expectations about the product quality requirements. In this work we deal with the development of a plasma derived product, on the basis of QFD rules. The application of QFD fulfilled the proposed objectives. QFD added simplicity and reliability to the production as well security and highly competitive costs to both, the product development and the final product itself. QFD was supplemented with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and it also proved to be highly applicable in the pharmaceutical industry even in the case that certification for a quality system is not pursued.

This paper demonstrates the empirical application of Six Sigma and Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) methodology to reduce product defects within a garments manufacturing organization in Bangladesh which follows the DMAIC methodology to investigate defects, root causes and provide a solution to eliminate these defects. Design of experiments (DOE) and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques were combined to statistically determine the correlation of the broken stitch and open seam with defects as well as to define their optimum values needed to eliminate the defects. The analysis from employing Six Sigma and DMAIC indicated that the broken stitch and open seam influenced the number of defective products. Thus, a reduction of about 35% in the garments defect was achieved, which helped the organization studied to reduce its defects and thus improve its Sigma level from 1.7 to 3.4.
