This article investigares the presence of Cervantes's “Don Quixote” in England during the XVIIth century, through a short survey of the most prominent works that the Spanish model directly or indiretly inspired, starting from the Elizabethan and Jacobean theatrical productions. Moreover, the comparative analysis of Shelton's first translation, Gayton's “Pleasant Notes upon Don Quixot” and Butler’s mock-heroic “Hudibras” leads us to the conclusion that the Spanish work, transplanted in English soil, generated a curious and original burlesque tradition of chivalric romance.

Resumen
In this work we present a group of phraseological units that have the verb hablar or the verb decir as base constituent and in which language has codified different possibilities of usage and interaction of verbal and non-verbal elements in communicative acts. The existence of these units in language shows the importance that non-verbal elements have in communication and their analysis will help to understand their role in discourse.

Resumen
In this piece of work it is my intention to reflect about adverbs of manner commonly known as "enunciation or illocutionary adverbs". We pretend to make a distinction that will allow us to separate them from this group and show their relationship to other types of "adverbial phrases" based on their pragmatic and semantic characteristics and their formal behaviour. Likewise, taking into account the pragmatic and semantic identity of these adverbial forms, some reflexions are made about the communicative conditions that explain their occurrence.

This paper focuses on a special type of Spanish proverbs: those who contain a metalinguistic judge. It presents a possible classification of these proverbs, based on Lyle Bachman´s language competence model and the linguistic knowledge model formulated by Eugenio Coseriu.

Resumen
The discourse markers are essential linguistic units in the construction of the discourses. Isolated from the grammatical studies for decades, they are currently being the aim for many language studious: This essay is a contribution to the study of discourse markers of the Spanish language from the perspective of Text Grammar. I study "por lo demás", a very interesting marker even if it is used at the "formal" level of language and it has not a high frequency of use. Taking large number of examples where the marker appears, I carry out the grammatical characterization and the study of the discourse function of this element, which is mainly used as a closing ordinal and as digressive marker. In addition, there are some different uses with intermediate or mixed values.

Resumen
The Spanish expression quiero decir can function as a reformulation discourse marker. In order to prove that, in this paper we analyse the main grammatical and semantic-pragmatic features of this item, and we connect them with those kind of markers. Therefore, we conclude that though its fixation level is not total and it does not lack completely lexical meaning, it can be considered a marker that prototypically introduces paraphrastic auto-reformulations.
