This article studies the relationship of José Camerino's short story "El pícaro amante" with Golden Age Spanish comedia. After a careful analysis of Camerino's text, it concludes that in "El pícaro amante" many explicit theatrical practices are not only present, but that these techniques play a most important role: the pícaro characters use them in order to deceive their victim. In the author's view, this use implies a criticism of a successful popular genre, i.e., the comedia, by another popular genre, i.e., the short story, that is at the same time a competitor for the comedia's popular success and a debtor of theatrical techniques.

Resumen
Zorrilla is a pioneer in the process of the double editing of a play -an editorial product and a spectacular product which his notebooks to the production textually recollect. Conscious of the diverse receptions which “El zapatero y el rey” will be subject of, the writer faces a careful restructuring of the spectacular text before handing ir to the editor. The final result is the deletion of redundant scene foot-notes, and the addition of others where gestures and actions are described, or helping to relate facts with earlier scenes or acts, and the introduction of dialogues.

Film novels are the arguments of rnovies printed in “feuilleton” form in magazines and as pocket books in collections like “La novela semanal cinematográfica” (1922-1933) or “Biblioteca films” (1924-1936). Based on the material in Filmoteca Española, this article makes known the main collections, its editors and some of its authors; it also studies how to transform the movie into a novel. Rather than a literary product, we find here an antecedent of what we call now merchandising.

Resumen
The comic vein in “Los guanches de Tenerife” by Lope de Vega -natives of the Canary Islands and Spanish conquerors do not share the same cultural codes and misunderstandings arise consequently- contains a double face; it deprives, on the one hand, the play of its conflictive violence, on the other, it pays tribute to the convencions of the comedy as a genre.
