Resumen
The ever-increasing number of people who become involved in criminal proceedings and do not know the language of the proceedings makes interpreting a service in ever-increasing demand in Spanish criminal courts. Providing quality interpreting has come to be an essential element in the safeguard of the fundamental procedural rights of those who become involved in criminal proceedings and speak a language other than the one used by the court. Such importance becomes more relevant in those scenarios in which proceedings demand more speed, as the ones carried out in Spanish on-duty investigating courts. Therefore, the judiciary plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the accused persons who do not share the language of the court proceedings have the same rights as those who speak that language. Nonetheless, as shown in the results of this essay, judges are usually unfamiliar with the functions the interpreters must undertake and reluctant to receive some training on the subject. This paper presents the results of an empirical exploratory study on the perceptions of on-duty investigating judges in the city of Seville, in which six judges replied a semi-structured interview.

Resumen
In this article we research the translation of metaphors in the journalistic language of economics between English and Spanish, focusing on mechanistic and railway metaphors in the context of the economic crisis of 2007. For this purpose, we use the data resulting from exploiting two corpora of our own elaboration. One of them is composed of texts extracted from the newspaper El País, the other of texts from The New York Times, both in their digital versions. To prove our hypothesis, we analyze ten specific cases with the help of terminology cards, in which the Spanish metaphor is displayed next to its English equivalent, followed by the most relevant information about them. In addition to establishing equivalences, we are interested in discovering the semantic relationships existing between these metaphors, especially those of antonymy. This article aims to prove that metaphors are a typical feature of economic language in the media and that these metaphorical expressions have equivalences in other languages, in our case of studying American English. Finally, we hypothesize that mechanistic metaphors, especially those connoting «speed», are somehow related to orientational metaphors and therefore we open a new path for future research.

Resumen
Suso de Toro is one of the best known current Galician authors. He himself was in charge of translating some of his works into Spanish, sometimes after the Galician text had appeared and others almost at the same time as it. Among the characteristics of Suso de Toro as a self-translator, his tendency to recreate the source text both macro textual and micro textual stands out, in the latter case using additions, deletions and permutations, in addition to not avoiding diegetic or fictional changes in the self-translated text. Subsequently, Suso de Toro transfers some of these modifications to a new edition of the work in Galician from the Spanish version. The main objective of this article is to delimit the concept of «back-self-translation of the self-translated text», which is intended to describe the author's elaboration of a new version in the first language with support from the text translated by him into the second language. This intervention, which is not exceptional in self-translating practice, is illustrated with the analysis of two romances by Suso de Toro, Ambulancia and Calzados Lola, written in Galician, self-translated into Spanish and back-self-translated into Galician.

The Greek Phronesis is among the key concepts in Aristotle’s ethics and politics. It appears especially in the Book VI of his Nicomachean Ethics. The translators of Aristotle’s work could only render those aspects of its meaning that they were able to comprehend. The present study examines how phronesis is transmitted into Arabic in the revised version of the first known translation of the Nicomachean Ethics by Isḥāq Ibn Ḥunain (9th century) where he renders it to ta‘aqqul, ‘aql or fahm, and the translation made by ‘Abd ar-Raḥmān Badawī (20th century), who translates it as fiṭna. The findings are occasionally compared with the English and German translations of the same text by two significant commentators of Aristotle. The paper concludes that while Ibn Ḥunain’s renderings are historically justified, all in all, Badawī has translated the Greek terms with relative faithfulness, although he occasionally fails to establish a correlation between the concepts.

Resumen
This study consists of the text analysis and the commentary in the translation process of three scientific dissemination texts about astronomy written by French astronomers from the 19th century: Exposition du système du monde, by Pierre-Simon Laplace, Sur la planète Neptune, by Urbain Le Verrier, and Astronomie populaire, by Camille Flammarion. Our aim is to analyse and solve the difficulties that scientific, technical and historical texts poses and to produce a correct translation from the terminological, linguistic and pragmatic point of view. Due to the extension of the originals, we have chosen a series of extracts about different subjects, although astronomy is the base of the whole work. Our methodology begins with a theoretical approach about the main characteristics and difficulties of textual typologies. The second part is the text analysis; we also justify some of the translation decisions that we made in our proposal.

In recent years, audiovisual translation has undergone a considerable expansion, and globalization and the new communication needs of the 21st century have promoted the presence of different genres within movies and series. Therefore, the need to analyze the language of new technologies and also their translation has been underlined. The aim of this study is to help bridge the existing bibliographical gap on the translation of digital text which, in formats as different as e-mails, social networks and chats, is increasingly being used as a narrative resource within films and series. We have compiled a bilingual corpus which includes the original version in English and the dubbed version into Spanish from the ten chapters of the first season of You (Berlanti and Gamble, 2018-2021). After analyzing both the variety of digital genres as well as the applied translation strategies, we have noticed that those strategies are often combined in innovative ways that have not been previously described. This paper may be used as a reference for professional translators in this new situation that is emerging and also in the translation class at university.
