Resumen
Background: Dermatophytoses are frequent infections in human, which are produced by fungus genera Trichophyton, Microsporum and Epidermophyton. Aim: To determine frequency of E. floccosum in isolated dermatophyte in a laboratory from Valparaíso during the last three decades, in addition to knowing the most frequent localization, age and gender of patients affected by this agent. Method: All superficial culture reports, issued by the Universidad de Valparaíso’s mycology laboratory in the last three decades, with E. floccosum, Microsporum spp and Trichophyton spp development, has been reviewed. Patients age, gender, location of the injury and culture report has been registered in an excel spreadsheet. Results: The total number of reports with dermatophyte development in the culture was 6,780. Only 26 cases show E. floccosum development, 73% of this (19/26) were present on men with and average age of 37 years. Frequency did progressively fall since eighty’s until 2000 decade. The age group most affected by this etiological agent was 30-36 years. The most frequently localization in both man and woman were foot plant and nails. Conclusions: Frequency of isolation did decrease progressively in dermatophytose by E. floccosum for the study period. Masculine gender and 36-60 age group were the most affected. The most frequently localization were foot plant and nails.

Resumen
From a linguistic standpoint, the consequences of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in both communication and linguistic skills are relatively well known. However, few studies have been conducted to observe the phonetic and phonemic domain. The aim of this study is to analyse the phonetic and phonemic performance of children with ASD from pre-primary school to third grade. This was accomplished by using the CLAFF, a guideline for classifying phonetic and phonemic adjustments. This study presents a cross-sectional approach and the sample was obtained via a consecutive non-probabilistic model. The main results showed that children with ASD prefer adjustments in manner of articulation and syncope. A Chi-squared analysis revealed a significant statistical association between School grade and Category of adjustment. To further observe this association, a multinomial logistic regression analysis was run, which showed that School grade predicted the probability of occurrence of adjustments that affect phonemic features rather the syllable.

Resumen
The main goal of this study was to describe and compare the performance of undergraduate students of speech language therapy in the activities of OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Evaluation) of the subject "Integrated Clinical in Primary Health" of the career of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences of the University of Chile. A non- experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted with a total sample of 29 fourth-year students. Two clinical simulation activities were analyzed for the same group of students, the first one was a formative evaluation and the second one was a summative evaluation. Both activities inspect three kinds of performance; individual attention of users, completion of clinical record, and performance in meeting with a health team. Results showed that students performed well on the evaluation of different non-technical clinical simulation skills in primary health care. Performance was higher on summative evaluation (second evaluation) as compared with the summative one in the three types of observed evaluations. These differences were statistically significant (p

Resumen
In this paper, we present some reflections on the process of learning-transfer from formal classrooms to clinical practices, and the challenges involved for the training of speech therapist in Chilean higher-education institutions. We begin by analyzing the three levels of the current educational system in Chile: the macrosystem (general educational model), the mesosystem (educational models assumed by each higher-education institution), and microsystem (curricula adopted at universities), in order to provide a reference framework. Subsequently, we describe the Teaching Model for Understanding, we present evidence of application in institutions of higher-education in Latin America and we reflect on the impact that the implementation of this model might have for the process of transfer of learning. Finally, we consider the scope of the proposal and the possible limitations in its execution.

Resumen
This study was focused on the perception of teachers who participated as beneficiaries on the professional practice in speech therapy implemented by the Universidad del Valle. The main focus was on how participants’ professional intervention promoted the development of children, within the framework of the Public Policy “de Cero a Siempre”. The practice was developed at Universidad del Valle from August 2013 to June 2016. The research was conducted using interpretative qualitative methods and was cross-sectional (case-study design). The study concluded that: i) success of the speech therapy intervention is related to the recognition and evaluation of the beneficiaries’ requirements ii) the speech therapy intervention improves development processes of all children, not only of children with language pathologies or disabilities, iii) the intervention fosters the Public Policy of attention to Early Childhood in Colombia. Finally, the observed practices validate speech therapy action from a community approach.

Resumen
Burns are traumatic injuries that compromise skin. Facial burns are the most complex burns, because of this area’s aesthetic and functional relevance. This kind of injuries affect emotion expression and relevant processes such as vision, speech, and feeding, among others. Despite scarce evidence, it has been shown that myofunctional speech-language therapy decreases sequelae among patients with orofacial burns. This study, therefore, set out to describe the myofunctional speech-language therapy intervention in 2nd and 3rd degree facial burns. 10 patients with 2nd and 3rd degree facial burns admitted to National Burn Center in Santiago, Chile, were recruited for this study. 80% of subjects had 2nd degree burns and 20% 3rd degree burns. 30% of subjects required a facial skin graft. At initial assessment, there was a decrease in the vertical and horizontal mouth opening, as well as a decrease in facial movements in all cases. All the subjects received a myofunctional speech-language therapy intervention during the hospitalization period. On the completion of myofunctional intervention, patients improved in all parameters, with statistically significant differences (p

Resumen
The purpose of this study is to provide information about the reading performance of 24 4th graders with have Specific Language Impairment (SLI) attending public and private subsidized schools in Santiago, Chile. Specifically, decoding and reading comprehension were assessed for all students (children with SLI and typical children -TLD- from a contrast group). The results show that students with SLI have significant performance differences on reading comprehension tests when compared to TLD group. Low performance is not explained by difficulties in decoding, since means for decoding are similar in both groups. Also, by means of an individual analysis of data from children with SLI, it was possible to identify a high diversity in their reading profile. There was no correlation between both reading processes among children with SLI. Results are discussed based on the evidence collected in the area and from the Simple Reading Vision (SRV).
