Resumen
El texto que presentamos se articula en dos partes. Lecturas y maestros, apartado en el que tratamos de aproximarnos a la pregunta de qué historia en la época final del Franquismo que consideramos fue una etapa de expectación ante un cambio de ciclo en España, como fue la Transición democrática. En la segunda parte, Entre la historiografía francesa y la británica, se eligen cuatro lecturas que para nuestra etapa de formación fueron importantes, constituyen el origen de nuestra evolución posterior. El método que hemos seguido ha sido el que proponen las lecturas que puede resumirse en la tensión entre el historiador y su contexto y en el descubrimiento del alma de papel del historiador.

Resumen
Based on a dialogue between two well-known sub-disciplines, cultural history and legal anthropology, the following article explores recent disputes involving various groups and related institutions in the global South and their historical claims to cultural property, the right to its curatorship, attempts to facilitate restitution and tensions within international organisations. To this end, I shall examine and compare four lawsuits brought against the British Museum in recent years by the states of Chile, Egypt, Nigeria and Greece, demanding the restitution of objects that they claim form part of the cultural heritage of their communities. This provides a glimpse of the enormous legal, historical, ethical and political challenges involved in examining disputes that span controversial horizons and require clear definitions within the framework of overlapping discordant systems, all of which renders these conflicts uncomfortable and challenging for the international community as a whole.

Resumen
This article addresses the historiographic landscape in Spain concerning the judiciary, focusing on judicial praxis. I conduct a comparative analysis with the aim of arguing the benefits of this kind of study for historical knowledge in general (2.1), and explore some of the causes for the prior neglect of this subject in Spanish historiography (2.2). This is followed by a critical analysis of studies of the judiciary during the Second Spanish Republic (1931- 1936), highlighting methodological shortcomings and pending lines of research (3.1 and 3.2). In light of the foregoing, I conclude that a historical analysis of judicial practice and reasoning is an urgent, unfinished task, not only in the field of legal and state historiography, and propose some methodological guidelines for further study of justice as political agency and an act of power (4).

Resumen
El artículo se aproxima a diversos enfoques historiográficos centrados en el análisis de la autobiografía comunista de partido. La bio nació en la Unión Soviética y se consolidó desde los años treinta en las estructuras orgánicas de la Internacional Comunista y en numerosos partidos nacionales. Su carácter reservado y su conexión con otras prácticas estalinistas invita a interpretarla como un registro estandarizado de control y, llegado el caso, como una herramienta coercitiva. Sin embargo, otras perspectivas han destacado la ductilidad de sus usos e intencionalidades o su centralidad en el ecosistema vivencial propio de la subjetividad comunista.

Resumen
Much has already been written about Basque terrorism. Here, I review a group of studies that address a specific problem: the relationship between this form of political violence and processes of mass nationalisation. Much of the existing work has comprised micro-analyses, meaning there is still room for further original research, whether from a historical or other disciplinary standpoint. I shall focus on a specific case which has not previously been analysed: the evolution of constituencies in the Basque Country and Navarre where traditionalism, with its militant Catholic and Spanish nationalist component, obtained excellent electoral results in the 1930s. However, after Franco’s dictatorship, many voters switched their allegiance to vote for nationalist leftist options such as HB, the political wing of ETA.

Resumen
The present article explores the main studies that have analysed and evaluated the system most frequently used by the Hispanic monarchy to audit the governance and justice exercised by royal officials during their term of office: the juicio de residencia or trial of residence. I shall examine research analysing this judicial procedure in Castile and the Indies ‒the territories where this mechanism was employed‒ and explore other uses of the documentary sources in historical studies that go beyond reviews of officials. I shall conclude with some critical thoughts on the effectiveness of this mechanism.

Resumen
Transylvania became part of the Habsburg Empire in the late 17th century. Between 1686 and 1848, the region’s urban landscape was radically altered by several large-scale infrastructural and architectural projects that also uncovered a substantial amount of archaeological material from its Roman past. Construction of the Vauban fort and other major urban projects in Alba Iulia (Gyulafehérvár, Karlsburg) after 1711 contributed to the creation of the city’s first archaeological collection, established by Ignatius Batthyány in the late 18th century. This paper focuses on the first Mithraic finds from Alba Iulia, the Batthyaneum Library’s valuable collection and the role of Mithraic finds from Apulum in the history of Mithraic studies.

Resumen
This article seeks to trace the historiographical trajectory of one of the most forgotten aspects in studies on the impact of the Great War in neutral Spain between 1914 and 1918: the participation of a contingent of volunteers who served in the ranks of the French Foreign Legion. After exploring various contributions that represent the state of the art in relation to the subject under study, I propose a series of paths for further development that would overcome the limitations of existing studies, which to date have primarily focused on the relationship between volunteers and the international strategy of Catalan nationalism.

Resumen
Este artículo tiene por objeto presentar un estudio comparativo entre los primeros textos históricos surgidos en China que trataron el contexto cultural y político del archipiélago japonés y el origen de la historiografía nativa de Japón. Estas fuentes continentales estaban integradas dentro de un discurso político afianzado en el imperio chino centrado en la idea de alteridad y en la pujante dicotomía civilización-barbarie. Esta noción se extendió más allá de las fronteras que delimitaban el país y jugó un papel trascendental en las fluidas relaciones geopolíticas establecidas en Asia Oriental con China como eje cultural preponderante. Los primeros intentos por ordenar una historia nacional por el estado japonés se basaron en remarcar la legitimidad de la élite social mediante su conexión con el universo mitológico. No obstante, estas crónicas imperiales fueron continuadas por otros textos que han legado un contenido histórico más fiel.

Resumen
Se analizan las características metodológicas e ideológicas de las primeras historias publicadas en España, Francia, Reino Unido y Alemania, centradas en la ciudad de Dido y Aníbal. El periodo cubierto por la historiografía «cartaginesa» que se va a tomar en consideración aquí va desde principios del siglo XVIII hasta el periodo de entreguerras del siglo XX y está compuesta por las obras los siguientes diez autores: Ch. Rollin, P. Rodríguez Campomanes, A. H. L. Heeren, A. Dureau de la Malle, R. Bosworth Smith, A. Church, E. Babelon, O. Meltzer, U. Kahrstedt y S. Gsell. A partir de este último autor, las «historias de Cartago» alcanzaron un elevado estándar metodológico que, con ciertas reservas, se puede considerar actual. Pero el perfeccionamiento metodológico alcanzado por estas obras positivistas camufló una importante carga ideológica y política, que ha lastrado la investigación de la siguiente centuria.
