In this paper we compare the textual narrative competence of three groups of spanish monolingual scholars: (A) rural mapuche, (B) rural no-mapuche and (C) urban. We contrast the strategies of manteinnance of reference, progession of information an interclauses connection. The corpus analized is compose of thirty five tales of scholars children of 3º and 6º elementary school and proceed of three differents geo-socio-cultural contexts. We propose that the narrative habilities present minimal differences attributable to the context of sociocultural development, the situation of bilingualism and the development of situated linguistic-communicative competence.

In this investigation we analyze, from the point of view of glottopolitics, the metalinguistics discourses published on “El Boletín” of the Chilean Academy of the Spanish Language between 1915 and 1931, the period of the institution’s reactivation. This phase has special significance because the Chilean Academy strives to reposition itself in the Chilean cultural field after a long recess (1888-1913) in which relevant changes developed in the country (the emergence of new social actors as well as the establishment of Chilean state-nation modernizing projects). At the same time the hispanist cultural trend acts with great force, represented by the Spanish Royal Academy and its American branches. Our frame of reference is historical glottopolitics, and our main analytical concept is language ideology (Del Valle & Meirinho, 2016). From this background we apply a discursive analysis oriented toward the contents of academic discourses published on the Academy’s official magazine in the already indicated period. Our conclusion is that the language ideology contained in the corpus corresponds in general terms to the standard language ideology (correction ideal and cult related literary and Castile-oriented language model) but permeated by local specific context (strive to modernization, linked with a “nation” discoursive object) as well as global (panhispanist ideals and language’s unity).

This article examines four characters from the novel Hombres (1953) by Eugenio González in order to reveal the identities of those people who were an inspiration for the narrator to shape the fiction in novel.   Since Hombres is placed temporarily in Carlos Ibáñez’s dictatorship (1927-1931), the narrator decides to hide the poet Gómez Rojas, the union leader Luis Triviño, Dr. Juan Gandulfo and the lawyer Carlos Vicuña between the pages of the book. This narrative procedure keeps these people’s identities safe; considering that, making these names and activities evident would have represented a problem for the state security apparatus.

This paper intends to explore the phenomenon of cultural identity on one of the pioneer societies in handling pluriculturality: Canada. This part of the study focuses on the first half of the XX century, specially, on the literary discourse produced by Canadian female writers. The analysis of this period established some identity features of the Canadian culture, which are later identified on the literary discourse of a short story written by Dionne Brandt, one of the best representatives of literature of that northern country. Taking into consideration the importance of contexts in the formation and transformation of identities, some categories from the Theory of Contexts are used for the analysis of this discourse. The methodology used allows to broaden the spectrum of analysis of cultural identity, because it covers the uniqueness of each individual and the social collectivity, as well as the connection between the processing of discourse, social structures and communicative situations. The results show identities of new comer groups and those who receive them in conflict.  On the short story as such, contradictions between migratory inclusive policies and discrimination against minority groups (immigrants) are expressed. Likewise, there is evidence of the interrelation of contexts with discourse and ways of acting that are as much part of the process as a result of it, for these contexts can change provided the strategies created by groups to face new and sometimes hostile cultural environments.

The present article proposes a reading of the novel Elfriede Jelinek’s The Piano Teacher as a deconstruction of the configuration of female sexuality in Freud. For this, it investigates the theoretical elaborations of Foucault and Derrida and the main elements of the differentiation of Freudian female sexuality: preoedipal phase, mother-daughter bond, castration fantasy. Finally, we try to show that The Piano Teacher deconstructs the way in which psychoanalytic discourses install subjectivation regimes that place women in a position of inferiority.

Which factors are relevant for the assessment of the exercise of our capacities to reason and argue? And what do these factors reveal about the nature of these capacities? The aim of this paper is to address these questions. In order to do this, we will try to explain, without presupposing the unviable use of sophisticated conceptual capacities, how a person can aim to identify correct reasons or arguments and properly satisfy such purpose. The contribution of our proposal resides in the linkage between certain conceptions of the implicit knowledge, the notion of proper function, and some of the results in the experimental research on metacognition, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of the exercise of our capacities to reason and argue.

On this paper, we intend to make a psychological description of Creon as presented in Antigone, Sophocles tragedy.  First, we will make a general description of the narcissistic personalities, based on the descriptions that the DSM-V and some authors (particularly Otto Kernberg) make of this personality disorder. Then we will show that Creon’s case corresponds to this psychological description and intend to study the cause of his behavior. Finally, we will answer possible objections that could be made to the fact that we are applying psychological categories to the Greek tragedy. Based on Kierkegaard’s description of the Greek tragedy, we will show that it cannot be understood on purely moral terms and how psychoanalysis allows us to rescue the tragic character of Creon.

The article proposes that the literature configures spaces where the thought of the outside emerges: a way of thinking that opposes the notions of interiority, common sense and good sense. For this, the categories of transgression, decentralization and absorption of meanings are reviewed, a triad that emerges from the philosophies of Foucault, Deleuze and Baudrillard. It is concluded that evil is articulated as a principle of uncertainty and the notion of literature that is presented alludes to the production of a laboratory where that cursed metaphysics is installed. It is about the deployment of the Dionysiac machine to make sense within the context of the loss of reference and of the breach of the plausibility pact.

This exercise adopts the categories of analysis of the semiotics of the passions for the reading of La Familia (1991), one of the three short stories of the Venezuelan author Nuni Sarmiento in ¡Señoras! Once the passions are understood as narrative text, we try to formalize the narrative program to descript both the mode of configuration of the passion ‘rage’ and that of its literary representation. As an essay, the approach could enrich the theoretical framework and the possibilities of interpretation and intertextuality of the literary text.
