Resumen
Against the backdrop of the question of divine predestination, this study aims to draw attention to some “Lives” of Portuguese religious women, written between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, in which the topic of grace and divine election works as a structural aspect of all narrative discourse. This study also seeks to show how the authors of these narratives in order to attract the attention of readers – who, by this time, still appreciate the scale of the wonderful, despite the criticism that had been targeted – resorted to such topics as the attractive marriage proposals presented by the parents of the protagonists, to reaffirm not only the question of predestination, as well as the obstinacy of these young girls to follow the religious life. This study also seeks to highlight how the convent ends up to state and function as a space of a very ‘special’ freedom for religious women, despite the confinement to which they were bound.

Resumen
This paper aims to address the worldview of Brazilian Kardecism, in order to understand its concepts of fate and freedom. In raising the issue of free-will in the spiritist doctrine, one realizes the importance of this topic which frequently surfaces in the publications of spiritist authors. Thus, some of the most prominent publications will be brought up, among them the ones of the French authors Allan Kardec and Léon Denis, due to their role in the promotion of the spiritist thought. Besides these publications, the work of Xico Chavier, one of the Brazilian authors whose works contributed greatly to the topic at hand, will also be addressed. In this way, this paper intends to deepen the understanding of this paradigm in the doctrine, as well as of the elements that make up its narrative.

Resumen
The female religious communities are, in medieval Portugal, important centers of spirituality and living in accordance with the dictates of a religious Order that institutionalizes and guides the consciences and actions of the ladies who form them. Since the foundation of the Order of St. Clare in Portugal, since the middle of the thirteenth these women who chose to live in a cloistered space and poverty, really felt that were called by the grace of God, being fully aware of what was asked of them, thus deciding in complete freedom. If a full answer is not possible, several approaches are important for a first approach to this question.

Resumen
This article concerns four liturgical codices copied in the scriptorium of the Monastery of Alcobaça between the mid-fifteenth and the seventeenth centuries. The late textual additions that concern rituals specific to Cistercian nunneries will be examined with the aim of understanding the uses of such additions in their context, and of determining their impact on our knowledge of female Cistercian monasteries and on Alcobaça’s jurisdiction over the women under its wing during this period.

Resumen
Henri-Irenée Marrou (1904-1977) was a historian who along with historical research developed a theological thinking about History itself, with great Augustinian influence. Theological reflection on History is present especially in Theology of History, where elements appear to reflect the theme of predestination. In the present article, this work is framed in the theological context in which it is developed (1st part); next, it is illustrated what Marrou refers on the subject of the predestination (2nd part); finally, lay the foundations for a theology of freedom, in the historical construction under the sign of belonging and Christian living (3rd part).
