Resumen
The objective was to determine the relationship between learning strategies for students at ESPOCH’s School of Mechanical Engineering and the academic performance in Mathematical Analysis II by analyzing a sample population of 82 students. This research was not experimental, it was quantitative-qualitative and of the descriptive-correlational type. The CEVEAPEU questionnaire was used to identify learning strategies and final grades in order to measure academic performance. 52% of students were underperformers and there were no high performers. Nineteen learning strategies are predominant. Four strategies significantly impinged on academic performance. Only the «planning» learning strategy was not used by low performing students. The research hypothesis is rejected and it is recommended to conduct a pilot study on the «planning» learning strategy as a predictor of academic performance.

The world authorities are motivating safe and healthy environments around the school, because for decades they have had positive results in several countries. Spanish kindergardens and primary education schools are recognized as appropriate places to experience and knowledge of the environment through physical activity and play. Among the projects on an active school environment, those related with the road to the school are relevant, normally promoted by local governments, with the close collaboration of the school. In any similar proposal, it is as important to pay attention to the educational community like as urban spaces. The walk to the school, which takes place at least twice a day, can be done on foot or by bicycle, which can be a fabulous and modifiable alternative to increase the daily physical activity of children and adolescents, because it helps them to improve their physical health (strength, aerobic endurance, balance, coordination and agility), social relationships and personal skills. The idea of the project walking to school is an initiative that tries to educate to the society into active displacements and sustainable urbanism, with examples all over the world. In any case, the protagonist of the walk to the school is the student, who will learn to move safely and by their own means, and to reflect on classroom activities on mobility and environmental improvement.

The purpose of this study was to reveal the conceptions that expert researchers have about novel researcher’s competences. The study was descriptive, with a mixed design. The data comes from a textual corpus constructed from 78 Prometeo researchers’ opinions about the type of knowledge and skills that novel researchers need. The results revealed two competences cores: the prosocial-emotional and methodological-discursive-technological competences. The expert researchers emphasized the socio-emotional character of research as the need to release the methodological practices from the dogmatism and the passions of the instructors.Novel researchers must have emotional consciousness, openness to methodical plurality, ability to use efficiently technology in favor to their research studies, and discursive quality for the socialization of knowledge.

Resumen
The present article studies the perspectives of the education of the war of 1879 that develop the teachers of basic education of the region of Tarapacá in Chile. In this sense, teachers implement the school curriculum, textbooks and their contents so that basic education students acquire knowledge that will be internalized for the reproduction of Chilean citizenship in a space that was conquered in Peru during the war of the Peaceful. These contents constitute a way to socialize the Chilean national identity and the valuation of events and patriotic heroes of the conflict in order to generate identity and belonging links to the concept of homeland in the students through the war stories.
