Resumen
From a non-representative sample of 545 students (446 from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and 99 from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City), from three careers (Law, Administration and Engineering), this article describes their citizenship meanings, their perception about citizenship education in their institutions and careers, and their interest for certain democratic practices. Results show meanings and interests specially associated to a representative democracy but a strong uninterest for subjects related with political parties. In both universities citizenship education is recognized with tones associated to each institution.

Resumen
The objective of this article is to analyze the characteristics of the universities that Latin America requires in the future to deal with social problems, taking into account the positions of university social responsibility (RSU) and educational inclusion. An interpretive-hermeneutical perspective was used, which is based on qualitative research; In addition, we reviewed, analyzed and interpreted scientific articles, documents and reports that contribute to the understanding of the main categories. The results support the importance of universities focused on diversity as a way of contributing to social development.

Resumen
This article explores the relationship between the scores of Spanish -specifically the component of grammar and writing- obtained through the application of the diagnostic test at the beginning of the Higher Education with school performance over the first two years and at the end of the bachelor's degree (curriculum time) of the generation 2010 at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). To test this association a multivariate logistic regression model is applied. The results revealed that the higher the score in grammar and writing, the better school performance during the bachelor's degree and also greater terminal efficiency.

Resumen
Given the demand of the society of the 21st century, universities are implementing the strategy of social innovation projects to achieve disciplinary and transversal skills in students. The purpose of this research is to discover the degree of development of four transversal competencies that a university of Mexico proposes in the profile of its students' graduation, after experiencing these projects. In addition, it investigates the learning achieved within the students and how they lived this process. The results were obtained through the application of a survey of 222 students who participated in social innovation projects in the state of Chiapas, Mexico and with the qualitative analysis of 34 participants' reflections. The competencies that achieved significant development were innovative entrepreneurship and social innovation, social intelligence, ethical and citizen commitment, self-knowledge and self-management.

Resumen
This paper analyzes some models of academic organization and the implications on the academic freedom for the production and mobilization of knowledge. One of the hypotheses that sustains the work is that different models imply greater or lesser constraints that influence academic freedom. According to the levels of regulation and autonomy, the logics of knowledge production and mobilization are drastically modified with consequences on academic freedom. After analyzing the models of organization by disciplines, of bureaucratic organization and organized anarchies, the role of the university is discussed from the perspective of complexity, conceiving the organization as an open system that achieves its balance and adapts to the conditions of the context through self-organization. The university, as an open and living system, provides subjects with a role that enables them to develop their competencies, knowledge and skills in an environment where they are reflected and enjoy a greater margin of freedom.

Resumen
Teaching has acquired various social representations, which are ideas that students have when they enter college to become educators. This topic has not been addressed in the Ecuadorian context: a reality with new education policies and curriculum changes. This research aimed to understand social representations about teaching students have, on their first-year of education. Focus groups were carried out with 13 first-year college students. A thematic analysis was performed. Teaching is associated with providing counseling for students, where the human factor prevails. Creativity, innovation and technology are elements associated with teaching. Despite acknowledging the importance of teaching, the students consider that society underestimates it.

Resumen
Studies of the trajectories of higher education students are relatively old, although they appear associated with other constructs, somewhat older, such as, academic performance, graduation rate, dropout, shelling, terminal efficiency, etc. Student trajectories are processual, relational and contextualized trajectories, and are constructed at a singular, social, historical and political level. The risk of recording and measuring rates and indicators, instead of a qualitative approach to the lives of students, which affect their academic careers, can cause the true subjects of university education to be hidden behind the numbers.

Resumen
The text explains why science, school and university are also responsible for the ecological crisis. It shows how in the framework of modernity and the capitalist system, nature is exploited and its study is biased in scientific disciplines, whose methods and values are inculcated in schools and universities. Therefore, these educational entities are responsible for training us as consumers-competitive-citizens. However, sciences have played a contradictory role. On one hand, they have been necessary for the recognition and analysis of the problem and, on the other hand, they have introduced the use of new energies and materials, which have had disastrous consequences for the environment.
