Foreign investment has traditionally played an important role in the real estate sector on the Costa del Sol, and since 2014, it has focused its attention on the real estate development business sector through international development companies and development companies linked to investment funds. The aim of this study is to explore the extent of their participation in the property development market in the province, as well as to evaluate the differences and similarities of this participation with respect to those existing in other tourist destinations in the Spanish Mediterranean. The methodology is based on data on new-build homes offered, provided by the main real estate portals operating in Spain. The data allows to confirm that companies linked to foreign companies lead the market for new-build homes on the Costa del Sol and its province, with a share above that of national and local developers, and with a greater market share than in mature Mediterranean tourist markets such as Alicante and the Balearic Islands. In addition, the new emerging technology sectors represent an opportunity for the local real estate market by generating new demand for housing in the most dynamic and touristic areas of the city.

In Latin America, after decades of difficulties in generating housing supply for lower-income households in good locations, as a result of market-oriented housing policies, an alternative has been their inclusion in urban renewal projects in central areas. Here, the challenge is to offer housing that meets the needs and expectations of those who already reside in the area in order to avoid expulsion. Through ethnographic work that included observation and interviews with residents, and using an analytical framework of residential satisfaction for urban renewal for changing contexts, we explore the residential preferences of the inhabitants of Las Aguas, a neighborhood in Bogotá’s city center, where an urban renewal project is underway. The findings indicate that the residential satisfaction of those living in the area incorporates a temporal dimension in which attributes of the present (location), the past (memory), and the future (hesitations about living in apartments) are articulated. An understanding of the factors that influence residential preferences in contexts of urban renewal is crucial to ensure that former residents are able, and willing, to stay.

In this article we analyze the differential effects of gender in cases of forced residential eviction and displacement to the periphery as they are lived by women residents of Mexico City. We consider eviction to be one of the least addressed problems in urban studies, but one that exhibits great strength for discussing the issues of housing and the city from a feminist perspective. We hypothesize that this is an expulsion not only of women, but of racialized women. Gathering concepts of eviction, mobility, and immobility, “racial banishment”, gentrification and others, and through a qualitative investigation that reconstructs the stories of eviction and displacement collected through interviews with women from the “Eviction Network of Mexico City”, we offer emotional and embodied texture to these abstract urban processes. In this context, the findings show how ethnic-racial issues intersect and produce specific gendered effects. At the same time, we pinpoint how forced displacement can be understood from the perspective of mobility and immobility, where aspects such as access to the city and insecurity are very sensitive for women, and finally, we address how to understand the experience of eviction from an emotional perspective.

In the last decade, international migration in Chile has become one of the main problems when thinking about the city and its public spaces. Knowing how cities are represented and what socio-spatial integration strategies are used is central to understanding the relationship of migrants with the urban space inhabited. Based on an exploratory qualitative study of international migration in Temuco, the results of the study show that the different representations of urban space reveal images of a fragmented city that lacks concrete urban devices designed for the socio-spatial integration of foreigners, who, nevertheless, engage in various integration strategies that allow them to partially connect with the city and which are expressed in the various representations of it.

The text proposes to understand public space as capable of becoming a common space when the rules of its governance challenge those who own the space, not only to appropriate it, but to open it up for everyone's use. This possibility is linked to a reinvention of collaboration and a way of exercising "commoning".

An analysis of the public space of the medium-sized cities of Chapecó, Mossoró and Marabá is presented, from a geographical perspective, analyzing the leisure infrastructure of these cities, as well as the practices carried out in them. The foreign category of “death” of public space is critically discussed, contrasting an empirical analysis of three medium-sized Brazilian cities, in the context of the theory related to socio-spatial fragmentation. There are also characteristics of public spaces in these cities that differ from those found in large metropolises: in the cities surveyed, we have extensive and well-equipped leisure areas located in central regions, which are used by the middle classes, but also by residents of areas peripheral areas, although in a temporally fragmented way, that is, during different days. On the other hand, there are trends towards the privatization of traditional functions of public space and greater use of norms and controls, explicit or implicit, but not without disputes and resistance from users. Thus, the data collected contrasts with the excessively pessimistic theories related to the inexorable “destruction” or “death” of public space. The methodology used was the literature review, analysis of master plans, conducting interviews, conducting surveys, cartographic elaboration and fieldwork.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss about gestational surrogacy motherhood agreements from the point of view of feminist theories, and the way in which these statements are translated into arguments for or against a regulation. The final aim is to think the way in which this argument could be construed in order to create the required regulation in a context of legal vacuum and regulatory uncertainty.

On 3 February 2021, the Girona Provincial Court handed down Ruling 59/2021, which profoundly impacted the insurance sector. This is the first decision ruled by a Provincial Court which addresses the companies' loss of profit derived from the COVID-19 pandemic's interruption of their business, reasoning that this event should be covered by the loss-of-profit insurance. Following this ruling, hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises have proceeded to make judicial and extra-judicial claims against their insurers, requesting compensation to mitigate these losses. Thus, this project aims to analyse the debate surrounding the coverage of loss of profits linked to the measures that were taken against COVID-19, through the lens of the case-law and the administrative doctrine issued on the matter.
