The purpose of this paper is to describe and reflect on the importance of Social Sciences in the field of Medical Sciences, based on our experience in teaching Argentinean and Latino American History of Health Sciences in the National University of La Matanza, more specifically in the course of studies for a Bachelor Degree in Nutrition. Our work has been improved by the development of health/disease studies along with an incipient process of including social sciences in the training of health professionals.

El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en tratar a las cogniciones y a  las emociones en la historiografía y en las investigaciones sobre enseñanza de la historia, a fin de identificar debates clave y vislumbrar posibles derroteros para la enseñanza. La primera parte sitúa la historia de las emociones apuntando cuatro debates transversales: si las emociones deben ser explicadas en términos universales o como constructos culturales; las diferencias en la definición de categorías básicas; la carencia de relación entre cogniciones y emociones; y el status incipiente de la historia de las emociones. En la segunda parte se analizan los estados del conocimiento más recientes en el campo de la enseñanza de la historia que muestran que las investigaciones se han enfocado fundamentalmente a categorías cognitivas, y que la emocionalidad ha emergido a cuenta gotas asociada a la motivación para el aprendizaje y a los sujetos considerados protagonistas; como herramienta para facilitar la memoria;  y como conectora entre la historia y la vida del alumnado. De manera tangencial se le encontró en estudios sobre identidades, memoria y empatía sin explicitar las relaciones entre cogniciones y emociones.

The present article offers an intervention proposal for teaching the Spanish Civil War in the Basque Country through comic books for students of history at the second course of Bachillerato. To this end, it first examines the contributions by various authors who have viewed the usefulness of graphic novels in the history classroom in a positive manner. More specifically, this article draws upon the recent scholarly works published in the United States about the didactic value of comic books in the history classroom. It later designs a didactic proposal for teaching the Civil War in the Basque Country for students in Spanish History Class in the second year of high school. This study suggests using the historical comic book Gabai. La guerra de Euskadi (1990) by Rafael Castellano and Juan Carlos Nazabal as a means to help students build the capacities to identify, contextualize, and corroborate.

The article explores tensions and controversies that emerge around the recognition of a “new” ailment named Post-polio Syndrome (PPS), with the purpose of problematize and discuss the disease and the constituent material of life as essential instruments to discuss the social and economic inclusion boundaries. The mentioned syndrome is a set of unspecified symptoms that can affect those who have had poliomyelitis before, and as a consequence of that, they carry with physical deficiencies for decades. Given the special relevancy that acquires digital communication technologies for people with severe difficulties in their mobility, we need to emphasize a perspective where people with SPP can rely in the collective actions that Polio and PPS support networks have on the Internet, to channel their demands and necessities. The ideas, requirements and resistance that are shown on these sites demonstrate that the internet is an excellent way to let the voice of polio and PPS patients is heard, so that it would be included with a higher workload in social sciences courses as in sanitary courses.
