Dependent nursing practice is following the doctor’s orders for medications, treatments, diet, activity, tests, etc. We ensure that the medical treatment is given.Shared practice is when the doctor is giving us parameters but leaves us to make judgments, as well. One example is giving medications “as needed” or titrating vasoactive medications in the intensive care unit according to blood pressure.Independent practice is what we do in our own scope of practice. What do we do with and for patients for which we do not need an order?

The model is based in the theory of human caring authored by Dr. Jean Watson. This theory honors autonomy, choice, and meaning through deep human connection. The Caritas field is the “inner world of practice at the heart level”. The model has four domains. The first one is most important. Is the health care that the person is receiving—the treatments, the surgery, the chemotherapy, the medications—aligned with the person’s wishes, preferences, and values.

Studies on the costs and profits of irrigated agricultural production are scarce. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the economic viability of cauliflower production drip irrigated with different water tensions on the ground and boron doses. The study was conducted in the Federal Rural University of Amazonia farm with the Desert hybrid under different water tensions on the ground and boron doses in the municipality of Igarapé-Açu-PA. The experimental design was a randomized block in a 4 x 4 factorial, sixteen treatments with three replications. The treatments consisted of four water tensions on the ground (15, 30, 45 and 60 kPa) indicating the time to irrigate and four boron doses (0, 2, 4 and 6 kg ha-1). Irrigation was performed with drippers, and irrigation management with tensiometers. Plots, 4 m2, consisted of 8 plants located in the spacing of 1.0 m between lines and 0.5 m between plants. The water tension at 38 kPa soil provides greater profitability in the productive activity. The cost with variable resources was the one that most contributed in the final cost of cauliflower production in all treatments.

Mixed reforestation with native species can establish a process of ecological succession in disturbed or degraded areas, with natural regeneration as one of the most important indicators of progression of ecological succession. In this sense, this work was carried out with the objective of evaluating the composition and phytosociological structure of the natural regeneration in a mixed reforestation area with native species in the municipality of Laranjeiras, SE. In a reforested area of 46 ha, 30 plots of 1 x 1 m were sampled, all individuals with a base height circumference < 15 cm and in the following height classes were sampled: 0,30 m ≤ H ≤ 1,0 m; 1,1 m ≤ H ≤ 2; 2,1 m ≤ H ≤ 3 m. The species were classified according to the ecological group to which they belong and their dispersion syndromes. The parameters of the vertical and horizontal structure, the indexes of diversity and equability and the floristic similarity between the planted species and the natural regeneration were analyzed. The species G. americana and S. terebinthifolia are indicated as facilitating species for the restoration of degraded areas in the Atlantic Forest in the State of Sergipe, as they occurred in the three height classes. A predominance of pioneer species, low diversity in natural regeneration was verified, caused by grazing of horses in the area. There was little floristic similarity between the regenerants and the planted tree species, since the planted adult individuals did not reach reproductive age yet.

Growth analysis is an affordable, cheap, and accurate method to evaluate plant growth against different environmental and management conditions. In this sense, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of salinity on the initial growth and sodium accumulation in the plant tissue of two rice cultivars. The experimental model used was a completely randomized design, constituting a 2 x 2 factorial (BRS Bojuru and IRGA 417 cultivars; with and without salt stress) with five replications. One level of salinity (2.0 dS m-1) was used by the addition of sodium chloride solution, except for the control, which received only tap water. Plant height, the leaf area, shoot dry matter, and sodium content were assessed at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 days after emergence (DAE). For calculation of the growth rates [net assimilation rate (NAR), relative growth rate (RGR) and crop growth rate (CGR)] the periods of 10, 30 and 50 DAE were considered. Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that the salinity reduces plant height, leaf area, shoot dry matter, and increases the sodium content in the cultivars’ tissues. At the early growth, the BRS Bojuru cultivar in salt stress condition shows better response than IRGA 417 cultivar. The BRS Bojuru cultivar presents better RGR at 30-50 DAE in salinity condition. The NAR is not influenced by the salinity in the period of 30-50 DAE in both cultivars.

The pineapple cv. Vitória has shown high productivity in relation to other cultivars. However, this cultivar is still little adopted due to the low availability and high cost of seedlings. The objective of this study was to estimate the cost of production and make an economic evaluation of cv. Vitória, comparing it with the estimated costs for ‘Pérola’ and ‘Smooth Cayenne’. The comparative results showed a profit of approximately 160% higher than cv. Pérola for cv. Vitória and 237% higher than cv. Smooth Cayenne, in single and double row planting, respectively. The profit per fruit in cv. Vitória was 54.7% higher than the ‘Pérola’ pineapple and 124.6% higher than ‘Smooth Cayenne’. Considering the evaluated phytosanitary risk, the profit per fruit in cv. Vitória was 163% and 337% higher in relation to ‘Pérola’ and ‘Smooth Cayenne’ pineapples, respectively. Among the evaluated options, it is more economically feasible to produce Vitória pineapple due to its greater productivity, profitability, and resistance to fusariosis.

The objective of this study was to characterize tomato fruits from 59 accessions of a tomato plant from the Germplasm Collection of the Department of Plant Engineering of Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), regarding physical, physicochemical and morphoagronomic characteristics. Four varieties and one hybrid were used as standards. Mature fruits harvested in cultivation under organic cultivation from October 2010 to March 2011, in Seropédica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, were used. A completely randomized design with three replications and 10 fruits per plot was adopted. Two physical characteristics (longitudinal and equatorial diameter); one physicochemical (total soluble solid content – SST) and five morphoagronomic (coloration, fruit shape, shape of upper and lower parts of the fruit and number of locules) were evaluated. Data were submitted to analysis variance and grouping by the Scott-Knott test (p < 0.05) and hierarchical grouping was made by Mahalanobis’ generalized distance using the UPGMA method. Two accessions, ENAS 1228 and ENAS 1214 stood out by the high SST content, > 10.0°Brix, in addition to 23 accessions with °Brix > 8.0. Color fruits (ENAS 1008, ENAS, 1010, ENAS 1015, ENAS 1017, ENAS 1029, ENAS 1215) and differentiated formats (ENAS 1013, ENAS 1043, ENAS 1040, ENAS 1077, ENAS 1012) were identified. Due to the beauty and uniqueness, several of these are very promising and interesting to fill niche markets, especially of organic products.
