Resumen
In horses, many diseases are associated with the consumption of diets with high levels of grain or nonstructural carbohydrates. Excess of these foods, often con promotes lactic fermentation and intestinal acidosis, causing colic and laminitis. The addition of alkalizing in the diet does not have the same effect on horses as compared to ruminants. This study aimed to use different alkalizing and associations between them, in an attempt to reverse the process and control of acidosis in the large intestine of horses. 20 animals underwent four treatments with a control, one with Al2(OH)3, Mg(OH)2, and finally a combination thereof. The animals were evaluated for changes in fecal pH and clinical changes resulting from the administered products such as occurrence of constipation or diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort. It is concluded that administration of magnesium hydroxide (Mg (OH)2 at a dose of 20 g / 100 kg body weight and the combination of magnesium hydroxide and aluminum hydroxide 20g Al (OH) 3 + 20 g Mg (OH) 2 / 100 kg live weight, were able to significantly (P<0,05) alter the fecal pH, 24 hours after administration, without digestive disorders or significant abdominal discomfort

Resumen
In order to obtain a successful outcome in artificial insemination programs, a few precautions must be taken with regard to male breeders. It is established that environmental factors can change the hormonal secretion, the cell differentiation that occurs in the testicles, as well as sperm maturation and transport in the epididymis. In view of adverse nutritional factors, reproductive organs can present degeneration and disorders in different degrees and intensities, affecting the animal fertility. The term nutraceutical describes products derived from foods, which may provide additional health benefits, beyond the basic value found in diets. Among the main nutraceuticals used in male reproduction, there are omega-3, arginine, B-complex vitamins, L-carnitine, β-carotene and antioxidants. The aim of this paper is to present the main substances used as nutraceuticals, in order to improve semen quality, obtaining most favorable outcomes in the use of artificial insemination.

Resumen
The aim of this study was to evaluate the hematological variables and body conditions of tuviras, Gymnotus spp under growing conditions. We used 42 fish with an average weight of 42.9 ± 31.8 (g) and average length of 23.7 ± 3.3 (cm) that were from different bait houses. The procedure was anesthesia with clove oil, followed by blood collection by venipuncture flow animals, fish was collected from each 1.5 ml -1, approximately blood. It was determined the concentration of red blood cells, hematocrit percentage, hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and body condition (Kn). The results show that the hematological value ranged from 0.880 to 3.940 x 106μl -1, the percentage of hematocrit value ranged from 20.0 to 51.5 %, the hemoglobin concentration from 4.4 to 14.9 g dl -1, the VCM 121.8 250,0fL -1, the MCHC 15.0 to 35.6 dl g -1 and Kn= 1,00 ± 0,041. Hematologic values of Gymnotus spp obtained are within the characteristics presented by other species created in cultive systems. The data evaluated in this work demonstrated that the tuviras kept in the bait houses presented good body conditions and healthness.

Resumen
Canine Brucellosis is a bacterial infectious disease that affects dogs around the world. The laboratory diagnosis is based on direct and indirect methods and should be performed when there is evidence from clinical and epidemiological signs. In this study, we observed scrotal dermatitis recurrent and resistant to treatment in six years dog, Golden Retriever. An AGID serological test for brucellosis was positive. However, serological tests may show unspecific reactions and false positive results. Blood culture is indicated as a confirmatory test. The result of the culture was negative in all materials tested (blood cultures, urine culture and semen in tryptose broth and blood agar). Thus, the blood, urine and semen samples were tested by PCR and all samples tested were positive. After castration, the histologic evaluation showed inflammatory infiltrate in the epididymis. Vacuolar degeneration of the germinal epithelium of the seminiferous tubules was observed in the testicular parenchyma without testicular atrophy. Morphological semen evaluation showed sperm abnormalities as strongly folded tail, loose heads, curly tails, head-head, corroborating the diagnosis of brucellosis. PCR was crucial to the canine brucellosis final diagnosis, demonstrating the high sensitivity and efficiency of this test, suggesting that PCR should be included as a confirmatory test, aimed at preventing the spread of this important zoonosis.

Resumen
The bovine tuberculosis is a zoonotic disease with importance to the public health. The post mortem identification and its fast and accurate diagnosis combined with the epidemiology knowledge are essential to fight against the advance of this disease. Therefore, the present study aimed to perform the diagnosis of Mycobacterium bovis, by molecular detection and also by histopathologic lesion characterization and identification of acid-fast bacilli (AFB), seeking to compare them. During slaughter of cattle in slaughter plants, under Federal Inspection Service in São Paulo State, were collected and identified, in duplicate, tissue samples with suggestive lesions of tuberculosis. One of the samples was intended for histopathology, being performed the hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining for lesion characterization and the Ziehl-Neelsen (ZN) staining to identification the AFB. The other sample was separated to the molecular diagnosis, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and nested PCR. The bacterial DNA present in the lesion was extracted and the PCR was performed, showing 20.84% (10/48) of positive samples. However, when the results were compared with more sensitive tests (nested PCR) and cheapest ones (histopathologycal characterization of lesions and the AFB identification), different results were found. When performing nested PCR in negative samples by conventional PCR (38/48), it was found more 18.74% (9/38) of positive samples resulting in 39.58% (19/48) of positive samples by molecular diagnosis from tissue lesions. However, histopathological characterization by hematoxylin-eosin resulted in 66.67% (32/48) of positive samples and the identification of AFB by Ziehl-Neelsen, 54.17% (26/48) of positive samples for bovine tuberculosis. The molecular tissue diagnosis from lesions is possible, but it should not be the only method used for bovine tuberculosis diagnosis.

Resumen
Este estudo teve como objetivo medir ad libitum intake of hydroelectrolytes and energetics replacers in horses submitted to “marcha” training. Six horses Mangalarga Marchador were used in “marcha” training. The animals were distributed in three treatments in crossover 6x3 system (six animals / three treatments). After exercise the animals were sent to individual stalls where they received their treatments: Water (control); Hydroelectrolytics and Energetics Replacers 1 (HER1) and Hydroelectrolytics and Energetics Replacers 2 (HER2). Were measured the volume ingested, sodium, potassium, chloride, ionized calcium, magnesium and serum phosphorus. The evaluations were performed at the following times: T0: just before the start the exercise; T1: immediately after the end of the exercise; T2: two hours after the exercise; T4: four hours after the exercise and T6: six hours after the exercise. It is conclude that the ingested volume of RHE1 and RHE2 was similar to control group, demonstrating expressive palatability, besides not causing the appearance of adverse effects.
