This article shows the results of a quasi-experimental research carried out in a subject within the Didactics of Mathematics area, in which the quality of the group work carried out in an experimental group, is compared with the one done in a control group. This will highlight where the flipped classroom model has been implemented, against those developed in a control group, where classes have been taught in a traditional way. After the analysis, it is evident that the “flipped classroom” methodology, favors and encourages collaborative and cooperative work. Higher quality work is obtained, which corresponds to the acquisition of competences necessary for the future teachers of primary education.

The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of a curricular enrichment program with the support of new technologies applied to education. From a mixed design, a case study of a 9-year-old student with mathematical talent was conducted. He  has been administered a curricular enrichment program in an inclusive environment, along with a questionnaire on attitudes towards mathematics, before and after the program. The results obtained have shown that technological tools, if used effectively, are a clear motivating element for students to increase their interest in mathematics. Above all, for those who need extra encouragement, such as students with mathematical talent.

The previous knowledge that the students possess when they enter the university, can be considered like a weapon of two edges. On the one hand, if these knowledges were learned in a meaningful way they can be used as a support tool, at the moment when the students try to solve the different algebraic tasks that they will face during their academic formation. However, if they were not understood correctly, they can become difficult cognitive obstacles to overcome, when trying to apply that knowledge in the new contexts that will be presented to them. This research presents a qualitative study through the application of 20 semi-structured interviews in university students, where their answers to a written test based on the items obtained from the work of Matz (1980) were analyzed. The results indicate that the previous knowledge of the students interviewed serves more as obstacles than as support.

The objective of the research is to describe the uses that future teachers of mathematics give to the software of dynamic geometry. It is a field research in the qualitative interpretive paradigm, carried out through a case study, which was focused on the analysis of the productions of a group of thirteen future teachers of mathematics, who participated in a course of solving geometric problems (during 16 weeks), as part of their teacher training plan at a Venezuelan public university. The instruments used to collect the information were: Cabri files, work reports and audio and video recordings. Regarding the software, it was found that the future teachers gave it a technical use: use of the tools to follow procedures, verify conjectures and improve appearances; and, a heuristic use: construction, exploration, formulation of conjectures and validation

The environments related to robotics and the visual block-based programming languages allow to pose tasks that can be understood as problems with mathematical content suitable for early school ages. These environments allow proposing problematic situations in ages in which formalism or poor mathematical knowledge prevents students from tackling more complex mathematical problems. In this work we show how the Bee-bot programmable robot is a privileged device to observe how students make decisions during the resolution process.

In this article a constructive, global and unifying analysis of the dissection of a cube into square and triangular pyramids is made. A classic problem, which regular, isolated and disconnected solutions are found and here  a complete and detailed descriptive covering of their solution is performed. A tour that particularly details the answer to how to carry out  the prismatic partition of a cube into six equivalent triangular pyramids.

Total suspended particles determinations were performed in parallel with two different gravimetric methods: the high-volume sampling method, reference methodology established in Brazil by ABNT NBR 9,547/97, and the low-volume sampling method, defined in this study. Samples were undertaken from October/2011 to January/2012, in the state of Paraná, Brazil, at three locations with different human activities. The first was mainly urban, with no industries around. The second had a paper mill in the surroundings and the third had around fertilizer handling, transportation and storage. Low-volume sampling method generated equivalent results to the reference method at the range 0 to 100 μg.m-3 in atmospheres with fine particulate. The atmosphere with greater particles generated discrepant results. This was due to the reference sampler limitations atinitial flow adjustment and flow control during sampling period. The wide range admitted to the sampling air velocity at the reference method increases the uncertainty of its results, mainly in atmospheres with greater particles. The low-volume method proposed at this study is a more advanced alternative with advantages for total suspended particles measurement if compared to the reference method,and it is a more flexible alternative method that carries less uncertainty of results assigned to sampling.

A geração e a disposição de resíduos oriundos da fundição de metaisdespertam a necessidade de alternativas que promovam seu melhorreaproveitamento em processos produtivos. Assim, este estudo realizoua caracterização química, mineralógica e granulométrica de resíduosde fundição de ferro cinzento e nodular e avaliou sua aplicabilidade naconstrução civil. A areia verde, escória e material particulado apresentaramem sua composição química a presença majoritária de dióxido de silício(SiO2), além de óxido de alumínio (Al2O3), óxido de potássio (K2O) e óxidode ferro (Fe2O3). A análise mineralógica revelou a presença de quartzo emtodos os resíduos e de hematita, na escória. Os três resíduos apresentaramgranulometrias compreendidas entre 0,002 e 0,6 mm. Identificou-se que osresíduos possuem potencialidade de uso na produção de cimento, argamassase materiais cerâmicos, como substituintes parciais dos agregados miúdos doconcreto e como material da camada de sub-base de pavimentos.

A formação de Áreas de Preservação Permanente (APPs) no entorno delagos de usinas hidrelétricas (UHEs) ajuda a amenizar os impactos doempreendimento sobre a biodiversidade. Este estudo avaliou a riqueza, aabundância e a composição das assembleias de formigas que ocorrem naárea de APP da UHE Foz do Chapecó. Foi realizada uma amostragem emcinco sítios, com históricos distintos de uso do solo, utilizando-se armadilhaspitfalls, guarda-chuva entomológico, rede de varredura, iscas de sardinha e deglicose e coleta manual. As assembleias foram avaliadas segundo a riqueza,a abundância e o índice de diversidade (H). Foram registradas 122 espéciespertencentes a 36 gêneros. A maior riqueza encontrada foi para Myrmicinae(S = 41) e Pheidole (S = 20), e a maior abundância, para Pheidole aberransMayr, 1868 (n = 46). A riqueza pode ser 60,5% maior do que a observada.A riqueza, a abundância e a composição da fauna de formigas informa sobreo processo de reconstituição da APP.

O objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi apresentar uma metodologia para odiagnóstico energético e benchmarking do uso de energia elétrica eminstituições de ensino superior multicampi. Assim, utilizou-se o InstitutoFederal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Piauí como objeto de estudo,com dados coletados nas faturas de energia, correlacionando-os comindicadores que medem a sua atividade. Em toda a instituição, puderam‑seconstatar perdas maiores que todo o valor gasto individualmente com energiaelétrica em oito dos 17 campi, e puderam-se sugerir estratégias para oaumento da eficiência energética. Por fim, concluiu-se que as faturas podemser utilizadas no diagnóstico energético e direcionar projetos de eficiênciaenergética; que o modelo Pressão-Estado-Resposta pode ser utilizadopara caracterizar os campi das instituições, possibilitando o agrupamento,a elaboração de índices, níveis e ranking de eficiência energética relativa,além de metas para o aumento da eficiência energética que devem serestimuladas simultaneamente.
