Resumen
This article discusses inclusive education from the experiences of young people with a physical disability. The research method used is qualitative, since case studies and the biographical-narrative method is used (Moriña, 2010). This methodology allows give voice (Susinos and Parrilla, 2008) who are able to pinpoint the elements that prevent their inclusion in school environments as barriers (Zarb, 1997), and may also indicate the support that eventually they have allowed them to be strengthened as agents (Bourdieu, 1997). Life stories were collected during thr work field and were contextualized ethnographic, where different actors appear allowing or preventing its participation in the school community. The investigation was directed to identify the cultures, policies, and practices (Ainscow, 2001) that these young people have been decisive in the educational process. The aim is to highlight and listen to those who remain invisible and silenced, to help increase your agency, if they do not include at least one individual does not feel welcome in the school and school community provides multiple and varied opportunities to learn and participate (Ainscow, 2001).

Resumen
This article goes deeper in some of the findings of a previous research named "Nosotros, los argentinos´: la construcción de la identidad nacional en libros de texto de Ciencias Sociales”,under development, where we have analyzed the way in which such identity is discursively constructed in text books aimed at high school education, currently being used in educational institutions in Argentina. One of the axes prioritized in the analysis has been the construction of migratory processes related to the national territory, focusing the attention on current discursive subjects and territorial displacement; aspects which will be treated in this article by means of a selection of a specific case which is part of the research corpus. In the focus suggested we made use of theoretical and methodological tools from the Discourse-Historical Approach (Wodak, de Cillia, Reisigl y Liebhart, 2009), considering mainly the way how discursive strategies (nomination, predicational and argumentation strategies) used in the aforementioned material articulate in the introduction of the themes being analyzed. The material selected let us examine one of the macro-strategies identified in the research corpus for the way of dealing with the migratory processes: the use of past tenses together with marginal and imprecise references to the present based on a number of presumptions. Besides, in this case it is also observed an explicit approach to cultural diversity as a means of making a weak connection to the discursive construction of migrating subjects identified in the proposal. Furthermore, the selection of these textual samples let us place their constructions in dialogue with others which have been analyzed in the general corpus of our research.

Resumen
The impact of globalization and the so-called information society put in question the traditional parameters in which we have defined learning: where it occurs, with whom, how and for what reason. One of the axis on which different authors seem to agree is the character and distributed that have the programming, and with it the need to establish educational continuities between the various experiences of learning both inside and outside of the school. In this context, we propose a theoretical-methodological relation between the funds of knowledge and identity and oral history for: a) to produce a continuity in the educational process, through socio-cultural elements of high significance for the students of basic education; b) reconsider the teaching as an activity based on the sociocultural interactivity from the same initial teacher training. The work is a derivative of the first cycle of an investigation based on the design developed in a normal school in Mexico with teachers in training. Preliminary conclusions point out the possibility of establishing a process of initial training focused on the development of educational continuities during the experiences of approach to the teaching practice. This exercise has helped to adjust the strategy for research on what has been called inclusive cultural didactics.

Resumen
This paper revisits the concept of Diatopic Hermeneutics conceived by De Sousa-Santos. It is an attempt to translate knowledge among diverse cultural systems, in order to promote dialogue among them. This hermeneutic approach is relevant to the teaching of culture in both higher education courses and in those addressed to international students. Therefore, a pedagogical experience, where that exercise was successfully applied is presented. The experience consists of critical analysis of a textbook unit. As a result, the class got to relevant conclusions in forming a humanistic ethos in the process of learning a foreign language. The aim is to contribute with the academic community promoting a holistic approach to Applied Linguistics.

Resumen
The purpose of this article is to reveal the research project results that took place in the Educational Research Institute (INIE), Education School, at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). The research main objective was to analyze the educational community`s criterion related to “Reform of regulatory rules of promotion and repetition in the Costa Rican educational system”. Furthermore, this research involved a change in the promotion system of the secondary students in curriculum, teaching, and administrative aspects. Moreover, the objective was achieved by using a descriptive exploratory qualitative research methodology, in which the educational community of two public secondary schools, Ministry of Education authorities (MEP), university professors, and the National Association of Teachers (ANDE) participates. This research begins with the reform´s antecedents and then a literature review about the topic. Therefore, there is evidence in this study related to the educational community`s disagreement about this reform and they propose suggestions in order to improve the high school Promotion System in Costa Rica.

Resumen
The present study captures a series of reflections on the growing need in the educational context to identify aspects that interact as conditions of student achievement. Research in this area has determined the relevance of both endogenous and exogenous variable. In this second group of variable, conditions attached to the teaching-learning process itself usually appear, such as student to student relationships, student to teacher relationships, teaching methodologies, monitoring and evaluation schemes; etc.; some positions appear with increasing frequency, which one tries to attribute relevance to the variables of attendance or absence in classes. This test presents a review of approaches concerning the relationship between attendance and performance and takes into consideration a case study within a Colombian university, finding, in some cases, there are correlations between school attendance and final grades, conditional to certain subjects, the first through fourth semester. In attrition, the study involves another set of variables which are necessary to strengthen this position, such as class size, historical mortality rate of the subject, and the students’ perceptions regarding teacher evaluation, identifying its weighting with respect with general performance.

Resumen
This work is part of a series of investigations that have been conducted in Programa de Investigación en Fundamentos de la Educación a Distancia de la Universidad Estatal a Distancia de Costa Rica (Research Program in Foundations of Distance Education at UNED) on the subject of language and literacy. Specifically, this study aimed to learn about the concepts of language that some first and second cycle teachers of basic general education have, who work in some schools in Costa Rica for public education. Knowing what teachers think about language is critical because these assumptions give the research an idea on what premises, theories and fundamentals education has as a base in their daily practice, and also an idea on how this affects literacy teaching and learning processes themselves, so that the analysis of their practice can be done as well as an improvement of the educational process. This was an exploratory study; so a mixed method was used. Among the results, it finds intuitive practice of teachers to address the issue of language and the need of a stronger language proposal that allows teachers enhance language skills beyond communication.

Resumen
During their schooling, students must go through multiple literacy processes due to the fact that each discipline has special ways to build and communicate knowledge (New London Group, 2000). However, this becomes more difficult, as the meaning and form of terms used in this education may vary with each teacher, depending on the discipline they teach (Unsworth, 2001). From this perspective, the objective of this study (Fondecyt 1130684 Project) is to identify the means and semiotic modes within the teaching of Geography classes, and to recognize their potential through epistemic tools of visual grammar. This work is based on two case studies and the corpus is constituted by the audiovisual records, which allowed the creation of a multimodal inventory of means and ways to communicate (Kress, 2010), that were used by two teachers when teaching geography at primary and secondary level in public schools in Chile. The results show that teachers instruct literacy through various means and modes, which are mostly visual, some of them more complex to understand because of density and number of symbols needed to understand them. From this, it can be seen that within Geography the meanings must be learned and mediated in a multimodal way.
