The main objective of this study was to examine the relationship between internet use, depression, anxiety, stress, and the practice of physical activity. The sample consisted of 150 college students, 25 males and 125 females between 18 and 30. The instruments used were a sociodemographic questionnaire including questions about the frequency of Internet use (days per week and hours per day) and physical activity practice. The Portuguese version of the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress-21Scale and the Young Internet Addiction Test (IAT) were also used. Multivariate analyses were carried out to compare the effect of gender, residence, frequency of Internet use (in days and hours), and physical activity practice. Dependent variables were Depression, Anxiety, and Stress, and internet dependence (IAT), Pearson’s correlation analyses were also performed to examine possible associations between the dependent variables. We concluded that there are significant effects between sexes and Internet Addiction, and significant positive correlations were found between stress, anxiety, depression, and Internet Addiction.

The purpose of the present study is to determine the reliability and factorial validity of a Portuguese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index - PSQI (Buysse, Reynolds III, Monk, Berman, & Kupfer, 1989). Methods: A random sample of 252 children (113 girls; 139 boys) attending the secondary school, with an average age of 15.27 years (SD = 1.925) that completed the Portuguese PSQI (P-PSQI). The factor structure of the data was evaluated using confirmatory factor analysis. Results: Once the “use of sleep medication” component was removed from the model a good overall fit to the data was found (χ2/df = 1.194, GFI = .983, AGFI = .959, CFI = .980, RMSEA = .029 [.001- .076] AICsat = 42.0). These results confirm the theoretical strength of PSQI; however, we were unable to confirm the seven-factor structure proposed in the original version. Conclusions: The PSQI-P has good psychometric properties and is suitable for use in nomothetic research on sleep quality in Portuguese adolescents.

The purpose of the present study was to compare soccer players by competitive level, game position, and competitive experience at self-confidence, negativity, attention, imagery, motivation, positivism, and competitive attitude. The sample consisted of 424 soccer players aged 18-36 years were studied. The data was gathered using the Psychological Performance Profile questionnaire was used. The results suggested a non-systematic psychological preparation for competition. Top-level players showed better psychological profiles. Comparisons by the level of the competition showed better scores for Regional competitors at the level of negativity. National level players scored higher on the attention /concentration variable. Comparisons by position showed that goalkeepers present higher levels of negativity. Acting in different positions demands different psychological skills. Comparisons by age and competitive experience show that the greater the competitive experience, the better the psychological profile. Influence the development of psychological skills. It is also possible to infer from the results that players and team managers would greatly benefit from mental training interventions psychological skills, promoting the development of different psychological profiles.

Virtual reality can be defined as an immersive, interactive, and tridimensional experience that occurs in real-time. With this work we pretend to answer the following question: “How can the self-report measures of game experience and the physiological measures of excitement be correlated?”. The sample consisted of 24 men, with ages between 18 and 44. Two questionnaires were used, HTC VIVE, Quiet comfort 15, the Endless Nightgame, Nexus 10 MKII. The results showed that the level of heart frequency and electrodynamic activity vary with the game difficulty levels. It was possible to find out that there is no correlation between the satisfaction level and the physiological excitement in the different difficulty levels.

With hyperspecialization we have tasks that previously were done only by one person to be divided into smaller tasks and that can be performed by several stakeholders. This paradigm causes each part of the task to be assigned to a hyper expert who is proficient only in that specific part of the task. This approach promises to bring great gains in productivity for companies that use technological tools that support and enable this new type of work.

The present study aims to corroborate associations between Internet addiction and psychopathological symptomatology. For this purpose, a sample of 418 participants, between the ages of 18 and 35, completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Internet Addition Test, and the Brief Symptom Inventory depression, anxiety, hostility, and interpersonal sensitivity scales. We observed that 87.8% of the participants had low to mild addition, being males significantly more addicted. Internet addiction was positively associated with depression, anxiety, hostility, and interpersonal sensitivity. Comparisons by three levels of addiction found significant differences between groups on psychopathological symptomatology. The exception was on the variable hostility. Internet addiction is problematic. The association between psychological symptoms and the person´s level of perception of their level of addiction requires particular attention from health practitioners. The purpose of this study was to investigate to what extent physical activity influences individuals´ life satisfaction. The sample consisted of 219 adolescents, of whom 109 were males and 110 were females between the ages of twelve (12) and seventeen (17). The mean age was 14.42 years. The instrument used to measure life satisfaction was the Life SatisfactionScale (SWLS) developed by Diener, Emmons, Larsen, and Griffin (1985), translated and adapted to the Portuguese population by Neto (1990, 1993), and to evaluate the level of physical activity, the scale developed by Prochaska, Sallis, and Long (2001) was used. The results showed that individuals who practice physical exercise have higher levels of satisfaction with life than those who do not exercise. It was also observed that males presented higher levels of physical exercise compared to females, as well as higher levels of satisfaction with life. In sum, physical activity has a positive impact on the person´s life satisfaction.
