The heritage centres dedicated to philosophy are a minority in the cultural tourism context, since the philosophical heritage, given its immateriality and its complexity, does not have a large tradition in being communicated through the exhibition context. This paper aims to ground the bases for a suitable highlighting of the philosophical heritage in heritage centres. With this ultimate goal, the article offers in the first place an analysis of the museographic resources used in philosophical exhibitions, in order to verify if the proposal of such centres is able to communicate the exhibition’s content in a didactic way to its visitors, and to confirm, thereby, the adequacy of the use that they make of such philosophical heritage. In the second place, using the results of that research and the theoretical frame of the didactic museography, the article presents a good practice manual for the conceptualization and development of cultural and touristic products based in such heritage, with the intention that it will contribute to the development of exhibitions able to emphasize the richness of the philosophical heritage.

The aim of this paper is to identify the economic factors that determine the arrivals of North American tourists to Mexico from a multi-ecuational and dynamic perspective. In particular, long-term relationships and impacts of disposable income, trade value between the two countries and relative prices in the arrival of tourists to Mexico are established. The use of a vector autoregression model (VAR) is proposed, the model allows the identification of causal relationships and the forecasting of the quarterly demand of tourists to Mexico for the period 1996-2011. The proposed VAR model accuracy was contrasted against Naïve and SARIMA models.

The present research investigates the notion of enhanced tourist experiences through technology shedding light on co-creation practices and empowerment of customers. Neuhofer and Buhalis (2013) introduced a novel concept of technology-enhanced tourist experiences by generating a joint comprehension of new era of experiences which conjoin the elements of experiences, co-creation and technology. Being one of rather promoting cities in online environment Vilnius represents an interesting case of successive adoption of smart technologies in order to enhance tourist experiences and facilitate customer empowerment in Vilnius tourism domain. This study aims to determine technology-enhanced tourist experiences in order to measure factors of customer empowerment on the example of international incoming tourists to Vilnius (Lithuania). The mix-methods approach (qualitative online content and functionality analysis and quantitative survey) was justified as being the most appropriate for the purpose of this research with intention to find a basis for applying of technology-enhanced tourist experiences in Vilnius tourism marketplace. The paper concludes with the definition of current level of ICTs application to enhance tourist experience co-creation and a discussion of practical implications of technology-enhanced tourist experiences development.

In this paper we analyze if the physical characteristics associated to the vehicles of the city of Quito influence the occurrence of accidents. For this, a sample of 62,474 insured vehicles was taken and the multivariate statistical techniques of Multiple Correspondence Analysis and Logistic Regression were used, to study the relationships between the physical factors of the vehicles and the occurrence of a casualty. With the help of the statistical software IBM SPSS 22, it was determined that the brand, type and color of the vehicle are characteristics that affect the probability of occurrence of a loss.

Worldwide competition, international foreign policy, changing demographics and the global environment emerged as primary concerns by participants in the think tanks on Visioning the Future of Aruba. The general goal of these forums was to identify and describe the forces driving change, competitive methods and core competencies that will impact the Aruban tourism industry in the next ten years. To achieve these objectives, thirty-five leaders of the Aruban tourism industry gathered for a series of think tank forums over a two year period. The results of the forums demonstrated that there is a distinct link between environmental forces and the impact that those forces have on tourism businesses located in Aruba. The tourism industry in Aruba is facing major challenges in a rapidly changing environment. Participants acknowledged the increasing difficulty associated with maintaining a competitive advantage in the tourism industry and asserted that it will be necessary to engage in creative new competitive methods as an investment in the future of Aruba. Specifically, the group agreed four future competitive methods were in need of development: ecologically responsible destination, sustainable development, safety & security, and sustainable growth & competitiveness.

Once the links of the supply chain within the organizations were integrated, that is to say, it was possible to raise awareness and establish the vision of integrated logistics, it was possible to face the pressure of global competitiveness regarding the handling of equipment, products, components, packaging and even complete technical systems, that had to be recovered, establishing in this way, the management of reverse logistics. Management systems such as PML (product life cycle), ERP (enterprise resource planning), CPM (collaborative processes), CRM (customer relationship), etc. were accepted. However, the greatest challenge in management is the lack of tools for decision making with the information available within these systems. This paper shows an approach to decision making based on the robustness of Bayesian networks under uncertainty for an IDSS (Intelligent Decision Support System).

The objective of this work is to compare the two regression procedures, ordinary and orthogonal or also called total, and to show that if there are non-fixed regressor variables, the ordinary regression method is not adequate to determine the values of the response variable from the regressor variables, rather, the method of total least squares or orthogonal regression is the most indicated.

In this article we explain the landscape and legal resources that characterized the GATCPAC Resting and Vacation City (1931-38) of Barcelona – a never built project – with the aim of depicting a suitable model for other areas. This model, named as “satellite leisure on linear natural reserves”, departs from the premise of placing those settlements that are potentially aggressive to the landscape, such as tourist resorts, in protected zones. The model is specially thought for interior and natural tourism. In the article we will explain the objectives of the GATCPAC project, its characteristics and the relation between those characteristics and other contemporary urban models. After that, we will find out which parameters are still useful for the actual landscape paradigm, drawing up an extrapolation to the Catalan region.

The upstream cities of Yangtze River have been witnessing significant transforming since the beginning of the construction of the Three Gorges hydroelectric dam project. Chongqing Port Authority had its opportunity to alternate the river tourism strategy from being the upstream terminal of the golden route into creating a particular cruise course towards perceiving the panorama of continuous elevation of mountainous city, at the same time, promoting the renovation of the urban design so as to revival the typical mountain-river vista. This paper bases on the panoramic research of Chongqing peninsula; discusses the characteristic aspects of the three-dimension sightseeing of the mountainous city on the cruise route, which widely exists in the Three Gorges region as well. And this method is different from the two dimensional approach of skyline analysis which is more suitable for the topographic area. The achieved work can offer the tourism-related sectors a sustainable assistance to deal with “tourbanism” topics in the urban regeneration process in the Three Gorges regions.
