INTRODUCTION: Since the approval of the Mental Health National Law No. 26.657 (2010), a process of reform has started for the care of people with mental illnesses. Psychiatric hospitals must be replaced by community services, and admissions will only be carried out in general hospitals. For children and adolescents there is only one pediatric hospital in Buenos Aires city that admits them in general rooms through the emergency room. OBJECTIVES: To describe representations and practices of on-duty professionals from the above mentioned hospital related to the care of children and adolescents aged 0-18 years with mental disorders, identifying changes triggered by the Law. METHODS: A retrospective, exploratory and descriptive research was performed. It used qualitative techniques: semi-structured interviews to professionals from different fields (nursing, pediatrics, psychology, psychiatry, social work and toxicology) conducted during 2014-2015. Content analysis was performed. RESULTS: According to the professionals, their practices are in line with the paradigm proposed by the Law, and the obstacles in care and implementation are due to insufficient intra and extra hospital resources, especially in general admission rooms. CONCLUSIONS: The transformation of practices according to the Law should be accompanied by the participation of the different social actors and public policies in mental health.

En el artículo se evalúa el funcionamiento del Servicio de Fertilidad desde su creación en 2013, empleando la técnica del Análisis de las Fortalezas, Oportunidades, Debilidades y Amenazas (FODA). Las líneas telefónicas de ayuda al fumador son un medio eficaz para promover la cesación. La incorporación de imágenes y frases como advertencias sanitarias junto al número de la línea en el paquete de cigarrillos se asoció a un incremento sustancial de llamadas, comparable al logrado por fuertes campañas en medios masivos.

Uno de los objetivos rectores de la Dirección es promover políticas de investigación en salud. Considerando la importancia de incluir una perspectiva de género en las investigaciones en salud, el presente artículo se propone caracterizar el financiamiento otorgado a estudios que hayan incorporado esta perspectiva durante el período 2010-2017.

Durante el otoño e invierno de 2016 se advirtió un cambio de comportamiento en la circulación yprevalencia de los virus de influenza y sincicial respiratorio en las muestras de la provincia de Corrientes.

Introduction: Assessment of serum uric acid is frequently done in Primary Health Care, although not scientifically recommended. The subsequent therapeutic approach is often a clinical challenge, particularly in the case of asymptomatic hyperuricemia (AH). The aim of this study was to review the evidence on AH treatment. Methods: A research was conducted on Medline and evidence-based medical sites for articles published between April 2012 and April 2016 in English, Spanish or Portuguese using the keywords “hyperuricemia” and “asymptomatic conditions”. Results: Five articles met the inclusion criteria: one meta-analysis (MA), three systematic reviews (SR) and one original study (OS). MA and OS recommend treatment of AH, for the prevention of renal dysfunction and for the prevention of cardiovascular events (CV), respectively. Two SR do not recommend treatment of AH and one says that pharmacological treatment should be considered after an individual assessment of risk/benefit ratio, particularly in the prevention of gout in subjects with serum uric acid above 9 mg/dL. Conclusion: Very limited scientific data are available on the pharmacologic treatment of AH, with limitations and controversial results. The clinical significance of AH and its causal relationship with occurrence of acute attacks of gout, renal dysfunction and cardiovascular disease are still uncertain. There is no scientific evidence to support the pharmacological treatment of HA in asymptomatic patients (SOR B). Further studies, that are methodologically robust and oriented to the patient are needed.

Objective: To analyze the perception of physicians working in the Family Health Strategy of a medium-sized municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, about the training and work in this field of activity. Methods: This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research, which addressed the universe of meanings, beliefs, values and attitudes of the participants towards the subject. Results: 12 interviews were conducted with physicians from 11 health units. The subjects interviewed report that the knowledge referring to the Family Health Strategy in their undergraduate curriculum was satisfactory and contributed to their professional training and performance. However, the choice of work still appears as a facilitating pathway to medical residency, mainly through government programs. Conclusions: Although the research has addressed the reports of a small number of physicians, the analysis highlights the importance of medical education in sensitizing and training for family and community medicine, as well as the still needed career enhancement in the primary care level. These topics remain in the heart of the discussions when it comes to the consolidation of this strategy in the country.
