The development of the quinoa cultivation has become more and more important (Quenopodium quinoa Willd) in the Cundiboyacense plateau, because of its important nutritional, gastronomic and productive value; as well as its easy adaptability to the edaphic and climatic conditions, that allows the quinoa to become a potential alternative in the agricultural sector. The aim of the research was to evaluate the agronomic response of the quinoa in the application of organic-mineral fertilizers, chemical and chemical mixture plus organic-mineral mixture at the time of planting and 54 days long after planting in the municipality of Ventaquemada – Boyacá. For this, a study was carried out in Victoria Granja Agroecológica, where was planted seeds of quinoa variedad dulce from Soracá; a completely random statistical design with three treatments and absolute control. The results were exposed to analysis of variance and the Tukey comparison test. There were significant differences in all the variables evaluated, where T3 revealed the best results for dry and fresh weight of panoja, dry weight of plants and seed yield in comparison to T1. Therefore, the use and application of organic-mineral manures, becomes in an important option for fertilizer, which favors the performance and rentability of quinoa crop under the Cundiboyacense plateau conditions.

Una amplia diversidad agrícola debería posibilitar una saludable cultura alimentaria en las poblaciones que la producen. En Boyacá, Colombia, a través del tiempo, parece ocurrir lo contrario. En ese sentido, el propósito de esta revisión es presentar una aproximación general de la relación entre la producción de la agrodiversidad, la cultura alimentaria y algunos aspectos de nutrición en Boyacá en dos momentos: la época prehispánica y los primeros años del siglo XXI, años en los que también se pretende visualizar el papel de la educación y las políticas públicas en la nutrición humana. En la época indígena se revela una producción de alimentos ricos en nutrientes, con una consecuente vida saludable, pero alterada drásticamente con la llegada de los españoles. Actualmente en Boyacá existe una paradoja: mientras es uno de los mayores productores de especies agrícolas nutritivas, a su vez posee los índices más altos de malnutrición infantil y en mujeres gestantes y lactantes, además de presentarse bajos rendimiento en cosechas, posiblemente por el inadecuado uso de la tierra, la ausencia de tecnologías, alianzas científicas, educativas y estatales. Planes de desarrollo y políticas en salud han intentado combatir esta situación con grandes inversiones, pero con resultados poco contundentes. Así, resulta necesario el desarrollo de sinergias estratégicas entre sectores y políticas en materia agrícolas, salud, educación y ciencia, con el propósito de fortalecer la actividad agrícola de la región y atender a su población más vulnerable.

Research on eco-tourism in Latin America is largely concentrated in Mexico. This country that has led policies aimed at protecting the environment from a conservationist approach and social inclusion perspective, implementing ecotourism strategies that allow the protection of natural resources. This document is produced from the documentary review on the development of ecological tourism in different contexts, mostly in Latin America, which have strategic territories and are suitable for their application. The main objective of the review was to systematize the importance of the role of communities making decisions, regarding environmental protection and community development around ecotourism. As a result, it is highlighted the importance of linking communities in the diagnosis, planning and the execution of ecological tourism proposals to succeed with these processes in a sustain-able way. It is concluded that not all initiatives have been successful, since the participation of the habitants in these interventions is low, and it has caused an inequitable distribution of resources generated in these activities, failing one of the pillars of ecotourism, the local development.

Boyacá, department of agricultural and livestock traditions, is a region where rural property is characterized by smallholdings with frequency of transitory crops like potato and onion (stem onion and bulb onion) with low technology and little technical assistance, limiting a quality production and promoting a poor economy. However, the adaptation of deciduous fruit trees such as apple, pear, plum and peach to this context becomes an alternative to approach social gaps in terms of poverty, unemployment and malnutrition, as well as environmental and developmental issues and its connection with the food production chain. Thus, exposing both the regional agroindustrial problems and the benefits and features of such fruit trees are the basis of this paper, also highlighting its potential and the importance in the improvement of the quality of life of the boyacense habitants.

This Article brings a reflection that takes into consideration the debate about the essential role of education in society, and its needed task of building the near future from a set of guidelines whose purpose is serving as guiding principles in the training processes through a model of society, establishing: State and subject. The document focuses on the stated purposes for education in Colombia and the utopian sense they acquire. The utopia is exposed as a positive and dynamic element, transformer of reality. However, the isolation of its primary sense leads to the dystopia, caused by the detachment of the planed issues and the reality. Likewise, the need of understanding the emerging interactions in three essential agents in order to take into consideration the rising challenges to education, such as: the State, the society and the subject which are explored in the complexity of the thought.

Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled growth and metastasis of abnormal cells in the body. This condition presents without distinction of age, sex or race, reason why it is considered one of the pathologies that is shown more frequently in the world-wide population with high mortality rates. This disease is the second leading cause of death in developed countries. Its incidence increases with age, and the diet is responsible in at least 30% of cases. The risk is lower in populations with high consumption of vegetal origin food. In the world, reduced consumption of fruits and vegetables, as well as increased consumption of smoked foods, grilled and processed meats, nitrites and nitrates, have been associated with an increased risk.
