Resumen
Over the past years accessibility to the media has gathered much attention, triggered by the switch from analogue to digital TV scheduled in Europe for 2012. However, despite the worldwide growing popularity of video games as an entertainment option, game accessibility has received little attention by industry and academia. In this paper the concept of game accessibility is presented, together with an analysis of the current accessibility situation. The different barriers players with functional diversity have to face are mentioned, and some arguments in favour of accessibility are provided. Finally, the author proposes several strategies for improving universal accessibility to games.

Resumen
Video games have a rather short history when compared against other entertainment products, such as plays and films, poetry and songs, novels, etc. Nevertheless, and despite its somewhat clumsy beginnings, and its early crash, interactive entertainment has found a way of adapting into different niches, and rocketing its returns beyond all other entertainment products. This success story was fully dependent, and is inextricably linked to the success story of the game localisation profession that had to be created from scratch in order to cover the unprecedented demands of multimedia interactive products. This article presents an overview of the changes in the past thirty years in the hope that it may help the industry avoid the errors of the past when facing the growing global marketplace

Resumen
The goal of this article is to explore the reasons that drive videogame players to spend hundreds of hours of their free time to decode, coordinate and translate videogames for the fan community. The article analyses how projects are organised and what aspects of the translation are most important for both the translators and those who download their patches. As part of the research, the author got in touch with eight of the most prominent Spanish-speaking romhackers. This article is a compilation of their opinions, comments and impressions and evaluates the current situation of this practice that is still very much in trend

Resumen
In the following article we are presenting a common phenomenon we notice in our everyday translation classes: the different aspectual interpretations given by prospective translators with Spanish L1 of German narrative sequences, given the same predicate whose nucleus is conjugated in a (German) past tense. The aim of this paper is to provide a description of this phenomenon, along with an attempt of explanation of it. First, a brief overview of the Cognitive Theory of Aspectuality is given, and its main concepts are related to the Scenes & Frames theory applied to Translation Studies. Then, data of a parallel corpus (DE>ES) from students´ translations is analyzed and the results explained. Finally, we suggest the calque of certain microframes of the German source text as a possible explanation for this double aspectual interpretation phenomenon and two new hypotheses are outlined, which constitute a starting point for deeper studies of this issue

Resumen
Linguistic mechanisms aiming to hide the subject of the action are frequent in French judgments, and their presence may be due to textual conventions rather than cultural ones. Among these mechanisms of «depersonalization», there are certain expressions formed by invariable lexical units (sur, pris, vu, etc.). These words support different arguments conveyed throughout the text and enable the transition from one enunciative voice to another one. The aim of this study is to analyse five expressions which provide a high degree of objectivity to determine, firstly, their meaning, and, secondly, to offer possible equivalents in Spanish. In order to do so, we have studied a corpus of judgments from the French Cour de cassation and from the Spanish Tribunal Supremo on the same subject and pronounced in the same period of time

Resumen
In numerous countries professionalization in the field of public service translation and interpretation has been linked to the existing accreditation practices. This is how the authorities establish the academic requirements to enter the profession, in addition to the skills and competences that any professional wishing to work in this field must possess. In this article a critical analysis of the professional accreditation systems that exist in Spain for legal interpreters (both sworn interpreters and staff court and police interpreters) is presented. This analysis will be carried out on the basis of a series of considerations regarding translation competence assessment as highlighted by the specialised bibliography in the field. It must be noted that existing accreditation schemes in Spain are mainly built up on translation-focused tests.

Resumen
It is known that the translation exercise has always been important in the development of the human knowledge. That is why we have considered interesting to analyse the French and Spanish translations of Edgar Allan Poe’s Tales. The aim of this contribution is the study of temporal cohesion in a cognitive approach. We have chosen three Tales of Edar Allan Poe: Berenice, The Oval Portrait, and The Masque of the Red Death. In a first step we’ll find the three markers still, again and then among the three Tales and in a second step we will compare the translations (French and Spanish ) of these markers with the original text. We think that these markers are polysemous and that they have a prototypic sense which is temporal and outlying senses like focalization, consequence or intensification. This polysemous characteristic provokes sometimes confusion among the translators

Resumen
This paper offers a theoretical basis that justifies the benefits provided by the pedagogical use of subtitles in foreign-language education in general, and in the enhancement of oral comprehension skills in particular. Also, a series of elements relevant for the practical use of this didactic resource are explained. Since each type of subtitles (subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing, bimodal subtitles, traditional subtitles, and reversed subtitles) offers diverse didactic possibilities, it is essential to be familiar with them. Similarly, the teacher and the students’ roles must be well defined to achieve an efficient flow of the pedagogical tasks that make use of this resource. Finally, the possible benefits and limitations of this pedagogical use of subtitles need to be known in order to adapt it to the different didactic contexts
