The article aims to understand the structure and sense of the speech emanating from female leaders and intellectuals from the «feminist tsunami» in 2018. On the basis of a press review from March to September 2018, we carry out an analysis of the discursive framing process, which was built in order to back a structural and sociocultural change in higher education as well as in the country, including social relationships and practices such as institutional regulations and laws. The results show that, in addition to its coherence, the main discourse strength of the movement refers to two main effects: firstly, its ability to go beyond the boundaries of the feminist struggle and link to broad demands of the Chilean cycle of politicization (cultural resonance), and secondly, an inscription from daily experiences of citizenship (narrative fidelity).

Abusive relationships are those permeated by violence in an institutionalized way. We aimed to understand the meanings attributed by a group of young academics from Manaus to an abusive relationship. It is qualitative research. We carried out a focus group with eight participants and eight individuals using a semi-structured interview. Data were analyzed through the analysis of meaning cores. As a result, we built four nuclei of meanings: 1st) Jealousy; 2nd) Controlling Behavior; 3rd) Violence; 4) Experiences of the Victim, which showed that gender norms sustain a violent relationship, which is mediated by jealousy, control behaviors, and attempts at social isolation.

Kids and teenagers are an important group inside detached condos, spaces which have been open to more people in Santiago during the last decades. For this reason, the present article characterizes the urban identities and representations of upper-middle class teenagers living in detached condos in Peñalolén. The findings show that even though there are many common elements among these identities, they are not homogeneous. It was noted that the detached condo where they live is less relevant than expected; in addition, they socialize in different contexts to a greater or lesser extent, leading therefore to several levels of reflexivity on them and their environment.

The essay explains to what extent children’s rights can contribute to counteracting adultcentrism and what understanding of them is important in this context. It pays special attention to children’s participation rights, particularly political participation and the right to vote. Since adultcentrism also has an impact on future generations, it finally addresses the issue of intergenerational justice and outlines possible solutions to represent the interests and rights of future generations.

The present article aims to describe the modalities of youth labor market segmentation in Chile in 2019. The results show an asymmetric, unequal structuring of the youth labor market in relation to its national, adult equivalent, placing itself as a space where working conditions linked to insecurity, temporality, instability, and low incomes prevail, an issue exacerbated by intragenerational conditions of gender, education levels, and household incomes. These structures and their implications for their life trajectories, as well as their role in the functioning of the productive order, are discussed in the conclusions.

We live in convoluted times; the global pandemic forced us to confine, suspending our daily social interactions, and implying serious transformations in all spheres of life. Inequality increased and precariousness deepened. The structures of modernity, such as family, school, and work, are in crisis and uncertainty permeates the diverse life experiences of youths. In this context, we met Maritza Urteaga in an online interview to speak about her career in research and epistemic proposal that nourish the field of youth studies. In the text, we will approach her biography, which guides both her questions and her concerns about youth practices and conditions in Mexico and Latin America, as a situated place. We will run through her main research topics, methodologies and reflective processes that allow us to understand the transformations and continuities of societies from the heterogeneous ways of being young in contemporary cities, and the way which young subjects are affected by the structural conditions crossing them, among others those related to social position, gender, ethnicity, age, geographic origin, but at the same time the way they affect young individuals from their agency and creative capacity, and their ways of creating collectivity from their acts and feelings.
