It is alarming the great impact the creation of our sorroundings builts upon the resources available, including that needed to modify the design, construction and operation of our buildings, by more sustainable practices. This presentation only begins presenting the problem, as part of an infinite search for solutions.

This essay analyzes the arrests regarding the 7 million dollar robbery on Wells Fargo deposits in Connecticut by the National Liberation group named, Los Macheteros. The essay analyzes the strategies used by the State against the defendants through the use of structures of control as presented by Michel Foucault. This, with the purpose to reinterpret some of the penal practices by the State, against crimes of political nature. The text attempts to demonstrate how punishment practices of the old regime apparently abandoned with modernity, were used to attend "crimes of political nature". Particularly with felonies where its questioned the legitimacy or the source of political sovereignty by the State via violent means.

This article presents the main results of an investigation carried out in the year 2013, in the autonomous community of Catalonia (Spain) about the reality of motherhood imprisoned. Semi-structured interview was carried out to women who had been imprisoned as well as those that are still. Inside the main results, one emphasizes that this situation generates a double condemnation: the penalty, for the committed crime; and social, for having breached the norms of the genre. Adding the stigma of having been in a space, which symbolizes the exclusion for those who do not adapt to social norms.

This article focuses on the analysis of the play by the Spanish playwright Alberto Miralles, ¡Hay motín compañeras! This play problematizes the status of women in confinement and the social media business. It also problematizes the entrepreneurship model and the logic of marketing. The article establishes a relationship between the model of Control societies by Guilles Deleuze and the foucaultian carceral model to advance a thoughtful line that addresses the question of How can something could happen to produce a turn to the hopeless situation of prison life in a society characterized as control societies?

This work examines the historical development of the Chilean new song movement and how it fits within Chile‘s twentieth century history. I chose Víctor Jara and Inti-Illimani as central figures in this essay, because both are paradigmatic of the most important aspects of a rich process of musical creativity. Both approach musical creation as an unceasing search within a political and social context of freedom, without giving in to commercial demands. The music was produced in a milieu, which, in spite of social and economic inequalities, had developed a democracy with a powerful dialogical capacity and where different social and political forces continuously presented their diverse perspectives about their national issues. This democratic habitat generated an innovative musical movement, a continuous search of new avenues, which changed Chilean music forever.

In this paper we will reflect critically on the prevailing criminal policy in our Western jurisdictions, mainly toward the model of incapacitation of the person in order to neutralize future dangerousness that may pose to society. This new model is often contrary to the most basic Criminal Law principles of proportionality and guilt, and the principles of rehabilitation and social reintegration in the prison context. Furthermore, we will investigate what is the role of the prison based on the new criminal policy, and how it has changed since its creation in the eighteenth century to our contemporary era. Finally, this work deals very critically on how the dominant paradigm and the mutation of jail from it are rooted dramatically in the penal and penitentiary reality of Puerto Rico.

This short article discusses the University of Puerto Rico Law School‘s Enlace con Escuelas Públicas initiative, which aims to diversify the legal profession by offering workshops on various aspects of legal theory and practice to high school students of the island‘s public education system. In particular, the article offers a critical account of writer Aníbal Santana Merced‘s visit to one of the workshops given on the topic of prisoners‘ rights, in order to explore the emancipatory nature of the workshop and the initiative as a whole. It is argued here that Enlace con Escuelas Públicas provided a space for discursive and affective ties to be developed between the figure of the inmate and the students of the public school system.

This essay addresses the socio-economic conditions which induce youth from marginalized areas to delinquency and violence. It presents the mistaken and unsuccessful strategies employed by the State to deal with the problem, such as long periods of confinement without offering effective and useful tools for rehabilitation. In addition to this, a strong stigma prevails over former prisoners when they seek employment. These difficult circumstances often lead to recidivism. In light of these challenging settings, the essay presents the results of various higher education prison programs. Finally, it recommends a comprehensive system designed to achieve the integral development of the human being while in confinement.
