In this article we will delve into, and focus, upon a specific aspect of Eloy Fernández Porta’s thinking as displayed in his essayistic production: namely, his criticism towards thinkers and sociologists who portray human relations from the humanist perspective. In order to accomplish this task, we will begin with an introduction which reflects upon the aforementioned author’s essayistic genre. Furthermore, we will determine the constituent of Fernandez Porta’s opposition through an exposition of the fundamental theses of said thinkers, whom he faces. Only after this will we be able to display, for one, the concrete objections directed towards each one of the theses. Moreover, we will illustrate the general framework from which Fernández Porta perceives capitalism, as well as the subjectivity and manner in which, through the doctrine, he criticizes humanist philosophers and sociologists from a globalist perspective.

The cinematographic work of the author Orson Welles composes a deep reflection on the idea of simulation. From his debut feature, Citizen Kane, to his latest fiction film, The Immortal Story, his eleven movies reveal the repeated presence of various symbolic objects that demonstrate this: projectors and cinematographers, masks and veils, reflections and mirrors, lights and shadows, or scenarios, that accompany the diegetic description of fallacious simulations or indeterminate representations. Through the formal analysis of different sequences, we intend to define the position that Welles exercises in his cinema towards the ideas of truth and falsehood, as well as the metadiscursive nature of his textual operations.

The novel My Name is Red by the Turkish Nobel Prize Orhan Pamuk, reveals the setbacks of the late 16th century Istanbul, in a workshop of miniaturists who face the Western painting’s influence, particularly the so-called Venetian Renaissance. A disjunctive exists between the Islamic pictorial tradition, which seeks the world’s representation through the eyes of God, but without pretensions to usurp his place as the unique and incomparable creator; and its anthropocentric European antithesis, which looks for the exact imitation of reality. This article examines the encounters and disagreements between both cultures and their aesthetic canons present in Pamuk’s text, concluding that more than a conflict with the neighboring culture, it is within itself, in an East-West exchange that remains unequal until our days, where the definition of themselves is sought from the other and from which the History of Art has not been alienated.

Historical novel is the best way to recover ancestral customs and this play, “Nahima: A long story about my mother” (2013), written by Edith Chahín, a Chilean of Syrian origin woman, offers that. This fictional play revives the life lessons that recall the travel of a generation of Syrian immigrants to Latin America, between 19th and 20th centuries. Important to say is that the novel catches the reader´s attention because of its realism and all the detailed descriptions and the traditions of the dream home country. All these, make the book be a compilation of uses and customs that will remain thanks to writing. Taking side for uprooted families, the author leaps to criticize the politics of the Ottoman oppressor, due to the wars and problems that caused to Syria, provoking the exile of entire generations, included her parents´ one.

There are in the autobiography a series of elements that try to be understood as verifiers of the events that occurred, in order to prestige the fiction with the truth. In these elements there is a positioning, that of the voice of the narrator, and the achievement of the facts of being understood as experiential by the author and the prism from which they are observed are keys to understanding the position of the author himself before the work and sociopolitical reality. In a social scene so marked by political discourse, literature and language reappear as elements that can remain in their pure state, without being contaminated. This article aims to shed some light on the prominence that autobiography has in current literature and how language is key to understanding the author's true intentions

This work analyzes the symbolic and personal reworking made by José Luis Puerto in his book De la intemperie of the structure used by Dante in his Divina comedia by distributing four thematic blocks that have the same number of poems and that end with one that repeats the same title, "(anhelo)". Being a resource that structures the entire work, a study of it is also provided.

In this paper I will analyze how in the piece La ira de Narciso (2016) by the Franco-Uruguayan writer Sergio Blanco there is a theatrical construction structured from the narrative and from the presence of the Brechtian theater as part of those unspecific forms (Pedrosa et al., 2018) the contemporary, thought from the self-fiction and that bifurcation of criticism and theory within the same piece, of the author’s life, with the life of the character and death, that is, of that intersection between the gesture and the deletions that the text presents as a draft, configuring a performative text (Kingler, 2008) in its structural and thematic hybridity, unfolding between the new aesthetics and the literary reinvention linked to the convulsive times of excess visibility and spectacularizing of the private.
