The study “O Enfrentamento à Transfobia no IFPA- Campus Belém: percepções sobre a Resolução 363/2017” aimed to investigate the level of knowledge of the Campus Belém community about the institutional policy to combat transphobia at the IFPA. We sought to understand how the Social Name Use Policy is implemented in practice and what is the community's knowledge of Resolution 363/2017-CONSUP-IFPA, that guarantees this right. In addition, we investigated the perceptions of teachers, students and administrative technicians about Trans students. It was a quantitative and qualitative research with documental, bibliographic and field searches, through the application of questionnaires. The literature review was based on contributions from authors such as (2000), Peres (2009), Rios (2009), Alves e Moreira (2015), Bento (2002), Junqueira (2009), Lima Neto, Cavalcanti e Gleyse (2018). As a result, there was a significant lack of knowledge of the Resolution 363/2017 and the urgency of continuing education for the servers on gender identity, gender and sexuality, as a strategy to guarantee a human, critical and citizenly formation for all the subjects of Vocational and Technological Education.

This article presents an experience report applied at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará (IFPA) Campus Abaetetuba, and it aims to present a proposal for management instruments with a view to improving results in teaching, research, extension and innovation in vocational training. The study has a qualitative approach, within the scope of a case study and action research, during the period from 2013 to 2018, and a documentary and bibliographic research were used to achieve the results. By analyzing the reality of professional education at the IFPA Campus Abaetetuba, it was possible to propose four management instruments, which were incorporated into the organizational structure of the Campus through the approval of resolution number 267/2018 by the Superior Council of the IFPA. They are: I - Forum Permanent Integration (Working Groups – GTs, centers, areas of knowledge and technological axes); II - Environments of Integrated Practices - APIs; III - Office of Community Practices – EPCs, and IV - Junior Center for Innovation and Scientific Development - NIDCJ. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that the four management instruments constituted important actions for the construction of an institutional identity within the scope of the IFPA Campus Abaetetuba, as well as having the potential for (re)application in other units of the federal network.

In this article we analyze the focus groups carried out with quota students enrolled in the integrated high school of Instituto Federal Fluminense Campos Centro campus in 2016, in the courses of Industrial Automation, Buildings, Electrotechnics, Informatics, and Mechanics. As methodological support, we applied the French Discourse Analysis for the possibility of demarcating the implicit elements in the quota students' answers. Through the relationship between neoliberalism, individualism, and meritocracy, moreover the sociology at the individual scale of Lahire (2005), we argue that the discourse of quota students as responsible for “success” and “failure” are decisive to naturalize the deep school inequality among students enrolled in the system of quotas and those from the private school system. This way, the hegemonic neoliberal ideology grounds and legitimizes the (re)production of social hierarchies and inequalities not only of origin but also of destinies.

The present research deals with the history and memory of the implementation of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pará Campus Abaetetuba, in order to investigate how the implementation of Integrated High School (EMI) took place, in the process of implantation of this Campus. Therefore, we carried out a research with a qualitative approach based on bibliographic research, documental research and oral history. Regarding the theoretical and methodological framework, Gil (2002) was privileged with regard to documentary research, Alberti (1996, 2004, 2012) and Portelli (1997, 2006) about oral history and memory; when discussing Integrated High School and Technical and Vocational Education and Training, we are based on Frigotto's, and Ciavatta and Ramos’ premises (2005). The research allowed us to identify several structural problems, in addition to deficits in didactic resources in the initial years of implementation of this educational space, as well as the effort of teachers and technicians to guarantee integral education to students, human formation for professional qualification, also for criticism and social transformation. Thus the protagonism of the student movement in the demand for improvements was identified.

As a result of a research carried out with young students of the Integrated Technical Courses of Itaperuna campus at the Instituto Federal Fluminense, this article discussed the importance of quotas in teaching, and raised questions regarding the challenges that Law nº 12.711/12 posed to the permanence of quota students in the respective institution. Based on 22 interviews, the survey found, first, that a good part of the interviewees had a positive perception of the quota law, seen as an important policy of inclusion and historical reparation. Second, we observed that many of the participants understand that only guaranteeing access with quotas is not enough, as it is also necessary to create effective conditions to ensure the permanence of these students. Finally, among the challenges pointed out to permanence, racism stood out, something that is present in everyday school life and that negatively affects the life of black students, especially quota students, due to the disadvantages arising from racial inequality in the country and the condition of socioeconomic vulnerability.

The presence of iron and manganese ions in the well water end up generating problems in the water quality that compromise its domestic and industrial use. To avoid this, it is common to use expensive technologies that end up not being as efficient as they should be. This study presents an alternative mean by using natural biosorbent materials that, in addition to presenting a great efficiency in the removal of ions from their high levels of organic matter, such as cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, also have a high adsorption capacity due to the presence of functional groups in their structure. The research focuses on the efficiency of green coconut shells in the removal of iron and manganese metal ions present in well water collected at the Polo de Inovação do IFF. For this, analyses were performed to determine the concentration of these metals by the Atomic Absorption Method in the input samples and in the samples after the passage through the filter containing the biosorbent. The concentration in the retention of iron and manganese ions was high, 87.85% and 66.81% respectively, for the 2.0 mm granulometry of the biosorbent material.

Based on Gramscian concept of Integral State and the theory of social justice by Nancy Fraser (2001), using intersectionality as an analytical tool, the retention and success policy in technical and vocational education and training at the Instituto Federal Fluminense (IFF) was investigated, and how it addresses the inequalities of class, race and gender. The documents analyzed recognize that there is inequality of opportunity in access to education and that quotas with criteria defined by Law 12.711/2012 (BRASIL, 2012a) are necessary for the democratization of education. It is observed a contradiction between the recognition of inequalities in opportunities of access, present in the three documents analyzed, but the non-recognition of them in retention, with the absence of actions and indicators that allow the diagnosis of inequalities in dropout, permanence and completion of the course among student groups with cuts of race, class and gender, also between quota holders and non-quota holders. It highlights the different ideologies in dispute for hegemony within the scope of civil society in which IFF community and its institutional policies are inserted. Measures are suggested to improve the planning, execution and evaluation of IFF's student retention policies with focus on social justice.

This article presents a research whose objective is to analyze, in the light of the Federal Constitution of 1988 and other legislation, the application of revenues from the minimum percentage of taxes on the maintenance and development of education in municipal networks of the Middle Paraíba region of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the context of the pandemic of COVID-19, in the financial year of 2020, in which school units were closed due to social isolation adopted as a prophylactic measure to contain the spread of the virus. We collected, systematized and analyzed the reports of accountability of municipal governments and other budgetary, accounting and financial documents available on the websites of the Audit Court of the State of Rio de Janeiro and the transparency portal of the governments. As a result, it was found, among other elements, that in most of the municipal governments analyzed, part of the education resources was applied illegally, for example, with the expenditure of foodstuffs. Furthermore, the presence of various payments for services and acquisition of materials was verified which raise doubts about their effective execution, given the context of social isolation and, therefore, of schools closed for classes during most of the year 2020.
