The article studies the different links that South American travestis / trans women constitute, once they have consolidated migration in the AMBA. In this way, it contributes to gender and migration studies through findings that expose the different sociabilities that South American transvestites and transvestites constitute, as well as the forms of socialization that affect these processes. Through a qualitative approach and the application of grounded theory as a method, a theoretical sample was developed consisting of 41 in-depth interviews that allowed reaching theoretical saturation. In this writing, it was found that migrants, after completing the migration, and as a result of socialization, build links in different spaces (areas where prostitution is practiced, night sociability and in political organizations) that fluctuate between cooperative attitudes, hostility and indifference. In particular, godmothers, friends and fellow activists are the main agents of socialization and with whom they constitute ties of a different character. Keywords: migration; travestis / trans; socialization; sociabilities; AMBA

This article presents the use of local resources present in rural and urban environments, and their transformation into biofertilizers, to achieve significant learning in various areas from an interdisciplinary perspective, especially those related to nature and the environment. Effective tools are proposed for students with limited access to technological resources, as in this case, the elaboration of organic fertilizers. The reality imposed by the pandemic is projected, forcing the educational sector to face new challenges, which together with the existing ones, leads to propose educational strategies adapted to this new reality. It also highlights the importance of the role of the teacher in the process of using locally generated organic material, both in urban and rural schools.

La cultura en Cuba y en el mundo (2003), is a book that brings together conferences by Alejo Carpentier, from 1964 to 1966. The purpose of the article is to detect the meanings of Americanidad and Cubanidad in this work, in addition to exposing the findings of a criticism reading that allowed the identification of its biographical meaning, visualization of sociological relations and its link to the cultural policy of the Cuban Revolution. Carpentier’s discourse was organized from the logic between narrative-music and the universal, particular and singular philosophical approach, where there are similar characteristics such as: the theory of contexts, epic, real, marvelous, baroque, time, use of words and folkloric. In addition, the emergence of a creator-anthropologist is recognized, which originates a national and political consciousness of the intelligentsia. In a general, it is concluded that “americanidad” and “cubanidad” express a national identity arising from the Conquest and colonization.

Among the problems faced by migrants in Santiago de Chile is access to quality housing and habitat, particularly in the first years of their migratory experience. They also face difficulties of coexistence, discrimination, and xenophobia in public spaces, neighborhoods, and work. We approach these aspects from the notion of urban proof that refers to a tension of historical and structural nature that confronts individuals with common challenges in relation to their life in the city, to which they must respond from their experience and personal resources. Through a qualitative study, we seek to know how these tensions manifest themselves for a group of migrants and the ways in which they face them. The results confirm the presence of early housing vulnerability, racism, and discrimination, while the main supports are the migratory project, together with withdrawal into the domestic space and "bearing" discrimination.

The city of Esparza, established in 1574, was the administrative headquarters of the area between the Tárcoles and Tempisque rivers. In this region lived Spaniards, indigenous, blacks, mestizos and mulattos. Our objective in this article is to analyze how the process of miscegenation developed in the 18th century and to determine how the population of mixed origin evolved and what was the specificity of inter-ethnic relations in this area. For this reason, are analyzed the variables of legitimacy, illegitimacy, endogamy and exogamy, based on the systematization and processing of the data obtained from the sources. Parish records, together with population counts and other judicial, economic and ecclesiastical documentation, constitute the main sources for this article. In this way, we want to contribute to the knowledge about the dynamics of miscegenation, in a specific population of the Province of Costa Rica.

The article reflects on oral productions and their resistance in the Colombian Caribbean. It is motivated by the idea of decentering aesthetic and political relations that have been privileged in terms of literacy and that have made memory processes and verbal arts inherent to the speech forms of populations invisible on the margins of an aesthetic and literary canon, from the place of the Oralaloteca as an experience of a research and archive group. We start from the extended and disseminated ideas for the treatment of orality in dialogue with some of the oral pieces that have been collected over 17 years and that are systematized in the Oraloteca corpus. The results of the study aim to reflect on the multiplicity of the verbal arts of orality, taking into account the “letrado” prestige that has prevailed in the academy and seeking interdisciplinarity to contextualize and understand the dynamics of the Colombian Caribbean region in its oralities, recognizing its aesthetic and political values.

This article analyzes the most relevant or controversial topics during the Central American Pedagogical Congress , , held in Guatemala City in December 1893. The five states of the isthmus (Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica) sent representatives to the pedagogical forum, in which nine educational topics of regional interest were discussed. However, the study of the debates among the participants, of the opinions pronounced in a personal capacity and of the reports of the commissions appointed for each topic, reveals that five topics delayed the interest and discussion of the participants, namely: the political union of the Central American isthmus, the education of women, the civilization of the indigenous, the training of workers and secular education in schools.

This article is part of the research that aims to question, based on qualitative documentary analysis, the notion of national identity with which Pelusín del Monte –character of the Cuban puppet theater– is indicated as a national icon, based on which, the statement that patrimonialized it was argued, through the investigation of Freddy Artiles (1946-2009) embodied in a doctoral thesis (2002). More specifically, a counterpoint is exposed on the uses of the popular term for an ontology of the puppet, and its use in the declaration of the character as a national icon. The expressive traces of the coloniality of knowledge and the coloniality of being are pointed out, inscribed in the academic gesture and in the very evolution of the denomination of popular, constitutive of the structures of feelings on which the cultural project of modernity stands.

This article analyzes the novel The Dragon can’t Dance, written by Trinidadian writer Earl Lovelace. It focuses upon a concept of paramount importance in the history of Insular Caribbean: the concept of Caribbeanness. The article will explore the relational dynamic in the society of Calvary Hill and, complementing the work with bibliography from important authors in the history of Caribbean identity configuration, it will analyze the consequences that the process of European colonization had upon the construction of a Caribbean identity, taking as its articulating axis the racial question and finally concluding that the uprooting is a factor of which all the characters in the novel are victims, making the consolidation of a shared identity difficult.
