Introduction: The family, the oldest of human social institutions, marks the individual in his or her different stages of life and constitutes an environment favorable for the improvement of his or her identity. Objective: To determine the type of family and emotional intelligence (EI) in nurses of a public hospital in Peru during pandemic care. Method: The study is a cross-sectional study with a census sample of 80 nurses who worked in COVID-19 hospitalization of a public hospital during the month of May 2020 and who had at least 3 months of seniority. After informed consent, a survey was administered with the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24) in its version adapted and validated to the Peruvian context. Its reliability reached a Cronbach's alpha coefficient greater than 0.8. Results: The predominant type of family among nurses is nuclear (56.3 %) and EI is predominantly low (36.3 %); the low level of the emotional perception dimension (43.8 %) stands out, while the dimensions of understanding and regulation of emotions present a predominance of excellent (36.3 %) and adequate (41.3 %) levels, respectively. Conclusions: EI should be considered when designing health policies for human talent management and when training in health services.

Objective: To know the perspective of education professionals about the difficulties faced in the school education of children and adolescents with chronic diseases, considering the aspects of vulnerability. Method: Descriptive and exploratory study of a qualitative nature. Data collection was carried out in a city in southern Brazil. The participants were fifteen education professionals who, in their daily routine, assist children or adolescents with chronic diseases. Data was analyzed through thematic analysis and interpreted through the concept of vulnerability. Results: Three themes emerged: programmatic vulnerabilities experienced in schooling and caring for children and adolescents with chronic illness; individual vulnerabilities experienced in the relationship between the family and the school and its influence on the schooling process; and social vulnerability and the schooling process of children and adolescents with chronic diseases. Conclusion: There is an evident need for an accurate look at the dimensions of vulnerabilities experienced, involving the availability of human and material resources, to minimize adversities and limitations in schooling, aiming to address individual demands of students, their families, and educators.

Introduction: Humanized care requires the interaction between scientific knowledge and values, generating the need to particularize care, which is an essential activity in nursing. Objective: To analyze the perception of hospitalized users regarding the humanized care they receive from nursing professionals. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional research was carried out, which included hospitalized users in the Clinical Services of Medicine, Surgery, Private, and legal representatives of patients under 18 years of age in Pediatrics, of a public hospital located in the south of Chile, with a sample of 377 participants. After the application of informed consent, it was applied a sociodemographic characterization as well as the instrument Perception of Humanized Nursing Care Behaviors - Version 3, with transcultural adaptation for the Chilean population, which was complemented with other data pertinent to the objectives of the research. Results: It was found that most of the participants recognized the nursing professional by the uniform, and despite some differences in each service, they reported satisfaction with the care received (84.6%). Aspects such as age, length of hospitalization and recognition of the nursing staff showed a statistical relation with satisfaction. Conclusions: It is necessary to implement strategies to strengthen the perception of humanized nursing care, being these aspects a contribution to the construction of an organizational climate and culture that evidences this perspective of care.

Introduction: Pediatric chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a serious health problem that affects the life of the adults and generates psychosocial impact on the family network. Objective: To reveal the representations and perspectives of primary caregivers of children with chronic kidney disease. Methodology: Study with phenomenological design administered in 9 informants, collection of information through in-depth interviews, category analysis, triangulation by researcher, safeguarding the rigorous criteria of Guba and Lincoln, and respect for the ethical principles of Ezekiel Emanuel. Results: The meta categories “living the disease”, “highly demanding disease” and “support networks present” emerged. Discussion: Coping with the disease is threatened by physical fatigue, uncertainty, and alteration of support within and outside the family structure. A similar result is found in the base study. The management of the child is carried out by the mother in almost all the activities associated with its treatment. Conclusions: Women provide care invisibly and continuously. It is necessary to make it visible as a social problem, to establish policies with a gender perspective that determine corrections of inequities that cultural stereotypes provide, as well as to make visible the need for greater nursing intervention as support for informal care.

Introduction: Pain is the main reason for seeking healthcare in an emergency service. Nurses have a crucial role in promoting and intervening in pain control as they are professionals with a privileged relationship with people. Objective: Describe how the nursing team assessed and recorded pain in the minor’s area of an Accident and Emergency service. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study. The pain assessment records of 105 people were analyzed. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics. Results: Pain was assessed in 53 episodes (50.48 %). The Numerical Rating Scale was the most used instrument (43.81 %). The characteristics of pain were described in 39.05 % of the episodes. In 1.90 % of the attacks, there was a record of pain reassessment after implementing pharmacological measures. Conclusion: Pain assessment was underreported in the different dimensions described in the study. Thus, it is essential to define strategies for the education and training of nurses on pain assessment.

Objective: Describe the scientific evidence of the implications Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) in health management. Method: Systematic review in electronic database using DeCs descriptors. Results: Thirteen articles were analyzed, resulting in ten categories of analysis. HAIs contribute to higher mortality rate and financial costs of hospitalization related to higher: average number of days of hospitalizations; increased spending on antimicrobials, diagnostic and complementary tests and invasive devices or procedures; length of hospital stay in intensive care units (ICU); possibility of readmission and development of other complications. Conclusions: HAIs have direct and indirect repercussions on patients’ lives as they represent a threat to the safety and quality of care. Prevention programs and infection control measures are considered effective in reducing the incidence rate of HAIs and consequently in reducing costs.
