This paper investigates the discursive construction of surrogacy in the Spanish press. The headlines have been selected from the most prominent online newspapers in Spain (El País, El Mundo and ABC) in the period from Jun 1st  2015 to May 31st 2016. The theoretical and methodological framework is based on critical discourse analysis and appraisal theory. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of linguistic resources and discursive strategies was brought about to reveal relationships between discursive options and ideological positions. The objective here is to describe and explain their grammatical, discursive and social aspects as an evidence of the power exercised by the media in its discourses.

This article analyzes historically the process of Americanization of economic science and management, especially in Mexico and Latin American, and, in the framework of accelerated globalization processes, the gradual homologation of these disciplines to US models that matures through the 20th century and culminates in the 1980s. The concept of educative Globamericanization refers to a “U.S. led globalization” of economics and management that marks the political rise of technocrats and money doctors, the persistence of elites and the success of Americanized postgraduate courses such as the MBA.

This paper aims to dwell on two female voices of modern Galician literature, Francisca Herrera Garrido (1869-1950) and María Mariño Carou (1907-1967), particularly on the poor visibility of her works in the contemporary cultural scene. The poets’ personal and institutional events serve as a good example of the difficulties that in the last century women have not only with emerging, but also with introducing themselves in the male-dominated fields of publishing and academy.

The aim of this article is to elaborate an analysis of the factors that, according to our hypothesis, have been decisive in the fact that, after democracy was established, women continued to be underrated as lyric authors, subordinate to an editorial system where male poets prevailed. Despite the social development and the rights acquired within the democratic system, female poets were still not as visible as male ones. The consequence is a lack of female names among the great works of the 80's and the 90's.

The study presented here intends to focus on the role played by the intellectual work of Carmen Martín Gaite in the path of women's self-consciousness, just returned to democracy in Spain. Martín Gaite, through her activity as novelist, essayist and translator of a diverse mosaic of literary works, builds a synergistic discourse of intertextuality that, along with the constructive power of memory in the creation of reality, gives us an alternative way, 'other', right of women's writing. The writing becomes a place, an 'elsewhere', physicaland symbolic at the same time, of female identity building, away from the traditional role imposed by men in the society and in the logos.

In many contemporary novels, there are references to the art, in every conjugation. The writer, when using words, tries to create a mirror effect between his or her writing and the instruments used as means of art. In many female writers’ works, art attains a main role, and very often is closely linked to sensibility, the territory where emotions take place. In some works, Almudena Grandes presents characters who have an intimate relationship with art, which reveals itself as a vivifying power, as we can see in Te llamaré Viernes (1991) and Castillos de cartón (2004), and in the short story “Mozart, y Brahms, y Corelli” (2005). In particular, female characters embody sensibility generating from art.

When the narrative converges with a world of monstrosity, the speaking subject and the object described would establish a dichotomous relation, consisting on words and silences that determine who has the right to speak clearly and who is going to be the subject of discussion. Historically, writers have silenced women throughout literary narrative, regarding them as an instrument to project the conjectures of the patriarchal society. The misogynistic mythology described them as a constant threat to social order, giving a bequest of controversial characters still included in the fiction of modern authors. Analysing the protagonists of select novels by Pilar Pedraza, a rewriting of their portrayals could be heightened, as the perspective of the descriptions of these terrible figures changes when a woman is the one to create fantastical narration.
