The aesthetic value of the System of Transcendental Idealism has been scarcely recognized. It must be considered the relevance of this work, and how easy has been the recognition of beauty in other works of Schelling. The general tendency, absolutely justified, has been to look for beauty and art in those text clearly devoted to this topic. In this article it is shown and analyzed the decisive aesthetic value of the System: how the whole work, its whole structure, base and develops the definition of beauty we find just in the last lines of the text: «The infinite expressed in a finite way is beauty» (SW 465).

The way in which the most vanguardist art has approached the relation with everyday life, breaking the barriers between art and life, has had a tangible influence on our current behaviour in lights of Mass Media, especially television and Internet. Nowadays, our relationship with day-to-day life develops, to a great extent, in the Internet world, which constitutes a space for socialization and profiling our identity. The values that accompany the way in which we establish the link with everyday life have been undergoing changes that nowadays could be considered as ambivalent: vital artistic gesture and a part of neoliberal mechanism of transparency. The overview of this relation, including voices from various sources, leads us to a conclusion, not at all devoid of controversies, regarding our identity and our life as an artistic creation.

This article aims to look into the practice of estrangement that Gómez de la Serna carries out in The madrilenian Flea-Market (El Rastro, 1914), practice that will be essential in order to understand one of the key vectors of the (subsequent) surrealistic Objectology. Such practice involves at least eight practices or possibilities of undoing that concern the Limit (which discriminates and organizes into a hierarchy), the Future (ingenuous and dictatorial), the bourgeois familiarity of home (which imprisons and causes drowsiness), the useful functionality (which trivialises), the false ideality (of prestiges of the city), the property (of our things), to oneself (practice of release) and the text itself. These practices constitute a massive although serene estrangement, with a clear projection of poetical, existential and metaphysical transcendency.

During World War, and in the years before and after, a large number of art and literature is dedicated to the exaltation of conflict, its justification, its lament. This literature and this art is therefore in all strata of society: from sentimental series, tales and comic books, war stories of grand consumption or guidebooks of the battle field, to novels and poems of great authors; from popular cartoons to works by renowned artists. All have a common denominator: the terrible impoverishment of language, on the one hand, and the other, the conviction by some intellectual elites that there is nothing to say, in any case. In the world of imperfect nihilism that results from all this appears a great responsible factor: the avant-garde, that sees in war the performing of some of its fantasies, all related to the will of destruction.

Theses pages serve as a presentation of the German artist Konrad Klapheck, focusing on highlighting the most important aspects of his well-known series of «machines», particularly focusing on the imaginary,so close to Lautréamont, of «sewing machines». Klapheck, to whom André Breton dedicated in 1965 the last of the writings contained in Le surréalisme et la peinture, has developed since the sixties a work of difficult stylistic allegiance. In reference to the statements made by the artist in La machine et moi (1997), its relations with the motif of the Sphinx and explorations inquired by Gustave Moreau and the element of estrangeness cultivated in the reproduction of everyday objects from a strong sense of identification with the machines.

This paper discusses the contribution of the early twentieth century avant-garde art to the conception and implementation of military camouflage techniques during the First World War. Some issues are analyzed, such as the cubist origin of mimetic camouflage designs (called Disruptive Pattern Material), the role played by the artists in the ideation of numeorus trompe l’ oeil for military purposes and camoufleur condition as an artist - soldier, a subject divided between functionality and aesthetics. All this serves as a foundation to support the thesis that the war context served as a field test for techniques, desires and art forms of the historical vanguards.

In this article, both the novel and the film Un homme qui dort by Georges Perec are approached. The philosophical and literary connections traced by the narrative are established, as the relation with the concept of everyday life as handled by the Situationists or Henri Lefebvre, as well as the search for a novel without a characteristic theme, a usual feature in Modernity and the concept of Russian formalism of estrangement as a procedure to transcend and overcome the instrumentalized experience of reality.

This article delves into the current vision of irony as an aesthetic category after it has failed as a strategy in postmodern narrative. The article analyses the concept of irony in relation to defamiliarization strategies in order to foreground the difficulties of both, irony and defamiliarization, in criticising contemporary society, a society that has become standardised and choreographed to the extreme. The example of e-games is presented as a showcase of the lack of interest in mystery in the new ludic scenario, where the appeal of the unknown has been replaced by the desire to remain within the uniformity of the «already felt».

The sociology of literature explains the conditions for the existence of literature in Belgium and its inevitable rivalry with the French institution. Between these two literary fields, we could remark the diachronic similarities, especially between Symbolism and Surrealism: their aversion to those constraints which imprison the individual, those against writing traces out of the path of a possible liberation towards a fuller life. The sociology also highlights the differences, which are crucial, between the Surrealism of André Breton and that of Paul Nougé.

Taking as the starting point the Bretonian proposed «physique de la poésie», we analyse the conditions of emergence of the different variations that meet the Surrelist practice of Surrelism object, from the Boule suspendue (1930) of Giacometti, until the sculptures created by Miró in the fifties, focused on the construction of objets à fonctionnements symboliques by Dalí, the fundamental writing of Breton about the «Equation de l’objet trouvé» and the celebration, in 1936, of the founding exhibition at the Galery Charles Ratton.
